How Mathew keeps surprising us everyday by saying "Oh i've never watched this" amazes me. I'm sorry but to me it seems like you've kind of been living under a rock for most of the early 2000s/2010s
more that people assumed I’m a lot younger than I am haha. I was a 17 year old boy when pitch perfect came out - it didn’t interest me in the slightest
fun fact: Cynthia Rose's actor wrote and recorded a demo of S&M, her voice is used as background vocals in the final song, so technically, she was singing her own song.
I loved your reaction to this. If you haven't seen it, I think you should react to the songs from the movie 'Hairspray'. John Travolta literally cross-dresses to play the mother and kills it. Careful, it's another movie that you would want to dance to all the songs. XD I recommend the songs "Big, blonde, and beautiful", "New girl in town", and "You can't stop the beat". They are my top three from the movie and will have you fanboying so hard. lol
I think you should just watch the entire movie instead and react to it. So much context gets lost when you just do the songs and like I'd love to see your reactions/opinions about the story and stuff. Not only with pitch perfect but also like a lot of other stuff that you react to.
If I remember correctly, the reason nobody backed Anna Kendrick's character (Beca) up wasn't because she wasn't part of the group, but that they were more used to more pop songs as opposed to rap, so they didn't know how to accompany her at first I believe.
I think they didn’t recognize the song at first. When Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy) joined in she had been looking like she had been concentrating but then had an expression of recognition as she started to sing along. Then others started to either recognize it or feel confident enough to join in
I think it's less that Becca liked rap and they liked pop and more that Becca liked newer music than they typically performed and also her production background meant she like switching and blending things up
Pitch Perfect introduced me to "riff-offs" and I have never been the same again. I want to participate in a riff-off before I die. I don't even need to win, I just want to participate in one. Side note: Riff-offs are much harder to do than they are portrayed in the movies.
@@mariakhan7986all the culture of Acapella in this movie was inspired by actual things in college singing groups you'll probably find a riff-off like contest somewhere if you look hard enough
Its so good. It was funny when it came out I was in secondary school doing music and the teacher asked if we knew what accapella meant and everyone in the room just went "it's pitch perfect" 😂and the teacher was like "erm what"
Oh my god!!! I hope you consider reacting to Pitch Perfect 2's Riff off!!! In my humble opinion, it was one of the most addictive riff-off's I have ever re-watched when I was a kid-- (And yes at 23:58, it is her doing the base line!)
The movie centrers around the Barden Bellas, a Acapella group of woman in a university. They have a lot of history and they aren't known for being that great. There's a acapella group of men who also is part is this university and they are most known and recognized. The problem with the Bellas are that they are too much in the past and they don't embrace modernity. We will follow Becca's (Anna Kendrick) journey in this group, who will try to bring modernity and help them win the Acapella competition.
At 8:30 "she's killing it too" yes that would be because Cynthia Rose is played by the musician known as Esther Dean she wrote that song for Rihanna you can also hear Esther in the chorus of super Bass by Nicki Minaj she is the entire chorus of the song
I, like you, was initially skeptical and assumed they would be a bit cringe, but then I watched all three movies. Now they are my go-to movies whenever I need cheering up, or just want some joy in my life. If you watch them all, you won't be disappointed. Also, you were surprised to see Elizabeth Banks, but she acted in and directed all three movies.
Also, I totally agree. I was a teenager when these came out, and I didn’t watch them until COVID. By that point, I was in my college’s a cappella group, so I was basically living the plot of these movies 😂. The first two are my comfort movies FOR REAL, and I’m definitely going to watch them tomorrow 😂.
The riff off: there is a general theme and one group start singing, and to get in someone else need to start another song going from the same word, maintaining the tenpo, pich and stuff (they do explain in the 3rd movie)
They're auditioning for an acapella group, someone's gotta do the "zoom zooms" and the "boom ch's" in the actual group, so they must also audition for that in addition to singing. So yeah, they are making those sounds individually in their audition in-universe. 13:20 They did match up. "I'm coming up so YOU > YOU dare look back". The matched word was "you".
Esther Dean who is the first singer in this video and who sings the Rihanna song is a songwriter and in fact she wrote that song. The riff off in Pitch Perfect 2 is probably the most random due to the addition of the Green Bay Packers (yes the real ones). There are so many more songs. You did a bit from each of the 3 here Did you watch Moulin Rouge yet? That was a lot of actors I didn't know could sing before that one
The person hitting all the high notes is Kelley Jakle and she is amazing - watch the love on top lock down cover and you can hear her take the lead at the end and it’s fabulous
11:20 he was singing "IT feels like the first time..." but she continued with "IT'S going down..." You have to match the word & start singing with the other team's last lyric
The Pitch Perfect series as a whole is just sooo iconic! You need to react to more from these movies, especially the riff-off from the second movie, their cover of Cheap Thrills by Sia, and the Treblemaker's final performance from the first one!
I can't wait for him to discover other songs, especially Das Sound Machine ^-^ not that I like them, but they are basically perfect it terms of execution...
Yeah pitch perfect had a lot of well known celebrities, they even had actual football players from the Greenbay packers singing! (And as a Bears fan… i found it hilarious 😂)
I literally love this movie! I have the whole first movie’s soundtrack downloaded. And some of the other movie’s songs, but they didn’t get the whole album treatment
Anna Kendrick singing Freedom 90s at the end of Pitch Perfect 3 solidified my love for her. Those high notes and vocal runs are so good you have to listen to it 😭
Pitch Perfect DOES get hella memed- but it's one of those things that's like, it got SUPER popular for a REASON. Additionally, I think it's kind of cool that it was one of the first HUGE films with a message about girls at college coming together to be a team. Like- it hasn't aged perfectly, but it's aged better than some films about girl experiences from the 2010s !!
The actress playing Cynthia Rose has an AMAZINNNNGGG voice! I watched this the year it came out with my parents and siblings and she was one of my favorites. Her voce and the way she sings is just so good in my opinion
Some context for The Finals: Anna Kendrick's character has been in a will they/won't they relationship with the boy they cut to, and he's a big movie person, with his favorite movie being Breakfast Club. She's not a big movie person, but after they had a huge fight she ends up watching a lot of movies he had previously recommended, loved them, and then added that song into the mix as an apology, which is why he's smiling and doing the fist raise.
the pitch perfect movies and especially the songs will forever be some of my all time favorites ive rewatched those movies so many times and i will never get tired of them, best combination of fun and singing i think about the riff offs from pitch perfect 1 and 3 at least once every 2 weeks and also the finale you watched haha glad you finally listened to the songs haha hope you check out more personal favorites, you havent seen in this: bellas singing cheap thrills any treblemakers performance bellas finale from the 2nd movie
You really need to watch all the movies. The context of the performances and the constant comedy is amazing. You’d love them. They get a little wacky but it’s all in good humor and they lean into it.
One more I can recommend reacting to are songs from a show called 'Galavant'. It's a fantasy-comedy musical tv show that makes reference to other musicals in some of its songs. Sadly it only got two season. Particular favorites of mine are: - Lords of the sea - Secret mission - A new season - Off with his shirt - Let's Agree to Disagree - Time Is of the Essence
I love Pitch Perfect!! Thanks for reacting to this! I recommend listening to more, especially from Pitch Perfect 2, has my favorites, and their cover of “Toxic” from the 3rd one. If you want more Anna Kendrick, I also recommend watching musical clips from the animated movie Trolls. She voices Poppy, the protagonist, and Justin Timberlake voices the co-protagonist.
You getting excited about music is just amazing. It’s always great seeing you get excited in these videos. One really underrated show with great music is Schmigadoon. It plays off of musical tropes, but each person in the cast of the first and second seasons can absolutely kill it.
NEED you to hear "da sound machines" from the 2nd movie, they are SO good ❤️🔥 When I was younger, i would literally just watch the 2nd movie just for them, especially for their cover of "COME ON"
I love the riff off from pitch perfect 2 the most then the first one. I start randomly singing them sometimes lol. You definitely need to watch the riff off from part 2
I'm SO glad you did this. The Pitch Perfect movies are all genuinely brilliant. And there are loads of great songs that you haven't seen yet so I hope there will be parts 2 & 3 at least of this. 😊
What I can now say with confidence is that you now completely understand everyone's love of these movies and the music in them. My vocal ensemble has been begging our conductor to let us do a Pitch Perfect song all year, and sadly we haven't, but as a female group there is a personal love between musicians with these pieces. Thank you for finally watching them and enjoying them as much as we do. Please stop living under a rock though haha (although it makes for good content)
The riff off in the second movie is my favorite, I’m sad you missed it! There’s a lot of other excellent songs in this trilogy too, like the World Finals in the second movie and Toxic from the third. Honestly, all the songs are top notch!
I would love to see you react to the music from Galavant. It came out in 2015 and only had two seasons. It is, in my opinion, quite underrated and has a really fun story and great music and I’d love to see what you think. Have a wonderful rest of your day 😊
There are so many more great performances in these 3 movies. I’d love to see a follow-up reaction! Try the Pitch Perfect 2 riff-off, as well as “Any Way You Want It”, the car show performance, the Kennedy Center performance and the World Championship - all from Pitch Perfect 2; “Freedom 90”, “Sit Still, Look Pretty” and “Toxic” from Pitch Perfect 3; and “Titanium” and the Treblemakers final in Pitch Perfect 1.
Hoping you do another one of these. Also found out about the music in the movies and I'm really liking it, but I can at least think of a few more you should listen: Flashlight, Toxic and Just The Way You Are/Just A Dream... maybe even Freedom! 90 and I've Got The Magic In Me Okay his reaction to who's singing the bass line in the finals is what I expected, Chloe doing the bass always makes me laugh for some reason
You should do more pitch perfect videos! The guys’ final song is super good too! Also I have recommended this in the past but Newsies the Broadway musical has really incredible music and talented voices
I'm so happy you reacted to Pitch Perfect! I highly recommend listening to more songs, there is one more riff-off in the second movie that just gets stuck in your head.
TH-cam recommended this to me, and I can say your reactions are absolutely amazing! Great to see a fellow Aussie on TH-cam doing well. Cheers from Melbourne!
when you commented about the whiplash from the changing i feel like i need to recommend checking out Marwan Ayman, he did a fully acapalla cover of "this is halloween" going through using 30 different styles. Its going to be pretty different to your normal i guess but its a fun one to check out. (He is in a group of 4 bass singers who all have insanely good voices and ranges)
you need to do a part 2 of this cause i’d love to see you react to more songs from pitch perfect (specifically the treblemakers final performance because in my opinion it’s more catchy and better than the bella’s!!)
I'd love to see you react to more from pitch perfect. I would especially love to see you react to the movies as well. Your reactions are always amazing, thank you for all you do!
Oh what a wonderful video!.. now I remember why I love this trilogy of films so much!. Please tell me there will be a part 2 of this video! ❤️ I've always been passionate about acapella music, so that must be why. 😅❤️
you should definitey check out the treblemaker's final performance. you'll get the ben platt singing you want. and lollipop from pitch perfect 2. or jut like more songs in general. you'd definitely enjoy them!! loved the reaction
If you love when the covers change the go lyrics with AMAZING vocals you should really go check out Lydia the bard's villain song series! I wish you'd do that SO MUCH! But remember it's important to read the descriptions to those!
The music in these movies is so fun!! I honestly think about some of their renditions and mashups more than the originals. And yes that finale was truly a masterpiece!
context for each clip because im a major pitch perfect fan: 1. in this first clip is when everyone is auditioning to get a place in one of the acapella groups at barten university by singing this song. 2 now everyone has their groups together and they are competing in a riff-off, where the acapella groups for fun compete. they get given a theme, and a group will start singing a song according to that theme. another group will have to take a word from that song and start singing a new song still fitting the theme. this keeps going until all other groups get cut out either by not matching the correct word or theme. also im pretty sure the reason becca wasnt backed up was because most the group sing and listen to more pop and werent sure how to come in with rap! 3. okay this is a big jump ahead as its in pitch perfect 3, there are 3 movies. they have graduated college and are coming togehter to do one last performance in their USO tour. they have just found their competition, Evermoist, and are doing a riff-off. (where they quit because the opposing team use instruments) 4. yeah, this is really jumbled we are now in pitch perfect 2. this is where becca gets a new job and snoop dog is doing a christmas song. in this scene the boss is getting bored of how basic it is. becca jumps in and starts singing another song creating a sort of mashup ! 5. wow would you look at that we are back in the first movie. the bellas have made it into the finals and this is their final performance! Also the reason the breakfast club thing was important was because jesse and becca were in a sort of relationship? idk it was confusing but then they got into an argument and back when they were sort of together jesse showed the end of the breakfast club because becca never watched the endings of movies. (and yes thats her doing the bass notes, in the movie she gets nodes and then gets surgery and with her messed up vocal chords she can hit the bass notes)
I don't know if you wacthed the entire movie or just the songs, but the evolution throut the movie and the references for other part in the movie, they make those covers even better
I watched this movie in theaters in 2012 I could not tell you what the plot was but that last song you listened to it stuck with me and lit never gets tiring to listen to
The comment about Ben Platt made me happy because I remember being so happy when i rewatched the movie and recognized him, in Dear Evan Hansen i agree I don't like his character very much but he's actually amazing in Pitch Perfect and also gets a song

TH-cam recommended this to me, and I can say your reactions are absolutely amazing! Great to see a fellow Aussie on TH-cam doing well. Cheers from Melbourne!
Me and my uncle cannot help but absolutely scream the songs from this movie
They're permanently additions to his playlist
when you commented about the whiplash from the changing i feel like i need to recommend checking out Marwan Ayman, he did a fully acapalla cover of "this is halloween" going through using 30 different styles.
I've always been passionate about acapella music, so that must be why. 😅❤️
Also YOU HAVE TO DO A PART TWO BECAUSE THE TREBLEMAKER'S SONGS ARE AMAZING NGL
You definitely need to listen to sit still look pretty from pitch perfect 3. I love it so much it might be my favorite from all 3 movies
''Mathew? Mad.'' so real, the girls deserved to win
WE NEED A PART TWO MATHEW PLEASE
4:36 lmao , not him having the same reaction as bumper in the background xD
I absolutely LOVE pitch perfect. You should definitely watch the movie. I would love to see your reaction to the full movie lol
They did it all separately but combined it together to make it into a song that's how they did it
5:16 It's the complete opposite actually!! Benji is the only Ben Platt character that isn't annoying, he's so sweet
you should definitey check out the treblemaker's final performance. you'll get the ben platt singing you want. and lollipop from pitch perfect 2. or jut like more songs in general. you'd definitely enjoy them!! loved the reaction
Would love to see you react to more Pitch Perfect songs! There’s so many good ones!
So glad you did this video pitch perfect is one of my all time favourite films you need to react to them soooo good
12:15 love the -beep beep- you did there 🥰
I love the Pitch Perfect films. You should watch them they're great. Especially the first one. I love the trebles final song in first film too.
This video definitely needs a part 2.
Your reaction is SO valid this film is brilliant!!
I am so glad you are finally experiencing this.
context for each clip because im a major pitch perfect fan:
1. in this first clip is when everyone is auditioning to get a place in one of the acapella groups at barten university by singing this song.
(where they quit because the opposing team use instruments)
4. yeah, this is really jumbled we are now in pitch perfect 2. this is where becca gets a new job and snoop dog is doing a christmas song. in this scene the boss is getting bored of how basic it is. becca jumps in and starts singing another song creating a sort of mashup !
5. wow would you look at that we are back in the first movie. the bellas have made it into the finals and this is their final performance!
There are so many good songs you missed. Please make another video with more songs from pitch-perfect
beca sung the song from the breakfast club because jesse told her to watch it so she was singing it to him that’s why he was so shocked
I don't know if you wacthed the entire movie or just the songs, but the evolution throut the movie and the references for other part in the movie, they make those covers even better
Oh I’ve been WAITING on this one
"Because I have been on the internet, funnily enough."
BARELY! Matthew. Barely.
We need more of the pitch perfect two songs! Especially the riff off and the finales of the worlds
My choir teacher hosts riff offs for the entire choir department and it’s soooo fun
