“Waiting On a Miracle” is one of the few Disney songs written in 3/4 time; representing how she’s “out of time” or out of the loop/groove her family is in, feeling like an outsider who wants in to make it 4/4. The most beautiful Disney song I’ve heard for sure!

"We Don't Talk About Bruno" is literally the "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" of the Encanto soundtrack, just absolute pure musical bliss that you can't get enough of 😂
@@reddd3109 the only song in Moana that stood out to me was Shiny. But I’m excited for The Little Mermaid remake because he wrote new original songs for that.
PLEAAASE watch the whole movie, its absolutely incredible. it celebrates colombian / hispanic culture and shows generational trauma in an understandable way,,, it's such a beautiful movie i love it
So, if someone wants to know, all the songs are somewhat inspired by Colombian rhymes and instruments used in the different regional Colombian music (which are very different from one another, we have LOTS of different cultural heritages and backgrounds, thanks to the African-Indigenous-European mixtures): Family Madrigal: Vallenato (from the north - Atlantic coast) Waiting on a Miracle: Joropo (from the east - Llanos Orientales) Surface Pressure: Champeta (it was Dominican and Puertorrican but got popular here around 20 years ago, kind of the antecessor of Reggaeton) We Don't Talk About Bruno: Salsa (it is Latina in general, but most famous here by the music created in the city of Cali, and the actor who does Félix is a recognized salsa Colombian singer) The songs obviously have the "Disney" touch and their own progression, but I imagine Lin Manuel-Miranda seized the chance to add a little bit of Colombianity to each of them as well, trying to show the richness of our cultural diversity (which is also shown by the variety of characters from very different regions living together in the same town)
Before Luisa all strong women were in tv anyways considered ugly or gross or weird so the fact she is drawn in a beautiful and natural way makes her my favorite character in Encanto
i still haven’t seen Encanto, because it’s already not in the cinemas or something (at least at my place), and we didn’t make it in time because my brother broke his arm and me and my mom didn’t want to go without him for obvious reasons :( Idk where to watch it now, but it seems really fun and interesting.
@Margaret Yankson well, my mom had to stay with him, and we just didn’t want to go without him, since we usually go to movies together, and he would be upset because he missed it or something. But yeah, i should’ve specified the reasons, lol.
As the oldest of 16 grandkids, this film hit my heart in all the right spots. I associated with Luisa's pressure to hold everyone up as the oldest. Mirabel's love for her family is so relatable. You should have seen our pre Covid Thanksgivings. Basically weekend long slumber parties. I miss those.
After "Hamilton" and "Encanto," another great Lin-Manuel Miranda musical you should check out (if you haven't already) is "In The Heights" (which was his debut musical on Broadway).
This movie almost made me cry like, 5 times because of the relatability throughout the entire thing. My data was so confused, and didn’t see the message, but I did, and it hit way to close to home
i love the classic lin song where everyone sings overtop of each other like in "we dont talk about bruno" or "non-stop" or "96000" (from in the heights)
I enjoyed the songs, but the ending bothered me a little bit of the movie itself since it felt a little too personal for some of the moments (making me legit cry) and the way everyone (especially the grandmother) was just forgiven. But the songs are lovely!
The climax of We Don't Talk about Bruno is so well done. It could easily have been a mess with so many voices overlapping, but they distinguish them really well, so you can actually hear each line. This would have been very easy to screw up, but they didn't. Surface Pressure is also the song that convinced me to watch this movie and I have zero regrets.
Yes! You should definitely do a reaction video for the movie. The visuals alongside the music is just *chef's kiss*. Lin-Manuel Miranda worked on the music, and going off of his past works, it's no surprise that the music is amazing. The vocals are all amazing too. They just work together so well.
You mentioned how beautiful Abuela's voice is, and that's because her singing voice is done by Olga Merediz! She's best known for playing Abuela Claudia in both the Broadway and movie versions of In The Heights, and she is f***ing amazing, I adore her.
That part right after the scene where she dreams about being free of “the crushing weight of expectation” and she goes back to singing about the the pressure that will “never stop” hit me the hardest. That moment when you’ve been struggling with so much crap for so long that you’ve given up hope that you’ll ever make it through. That moment where you think, this is my new normal, stop dreaming of ever being happy again…
Everyone says we don’t talk about Bruno is the best song, but in my opinion, it’s surface pressure. What a fantastic performance that you can totally resonate with. I love surface pressure so much
I really loved watching Encanto. You could definetly feel Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical theatre background come through but also had classic disney written all over.
Nice. There's, i think, two more songs in the movie you should listen to. "What else can i do?" which is Isabella's song, and "Dos Oroguitas" which is a flashback song for Abuela.
Surface Pressure was the first song I watched from this movie, I watched it on a whim because I saw it in my feed and I didn't really know anything about the movie. It was so good, I thought the exact same things as you. "Her singing is fantastic, her character is awesome while being sad, and now I want to watch the movie"
dude, 120% definitely watch the movie. i think it's a musical masterpiece, and there's so many aspects of the movie that are beyond expectations, like the music, the vibrant visuals, the Colombian influence, it's all just magical. watch the movie and make a video about it, please
Hope you enjoy the movie! I loved it. Disney movies never leave an impact on me but this movie surely did. Everything about was so amazing It made me want to watch it again and again
It doesn’t matter how often I hear the songs of Encanto, it’s always so insane how I get goosebumps every time. Lin is absolutely irreplaceable, hopefully we‘ll get to hear more songs of his creation in the future. 🎶
Surface Pressure is my favourite, not just because it's real, but artistically is beautiful and real in every way. From the visuals to the music all of it is perfect. Honestly the way this film uses music and the world/character intertwined is so artistically beautiful.
Mate, highly recommend In the heights ‘blackout’ and ‘96000’ cause it has similar layering to Bruno and it’s written by same guy as this film and Hamilton, just saying
Literally nobody talks about how relatable Waiting On A Miracle is, especially as the youngest sibling wanting to be as good enough as your family. Like, little siblings would do anything to be as good as their siblings and I relate to it a lot.
Encanto works a million times better in context, purely because of the building of the characters (the beauty and the brawn do no wrong) and then later hearing from that character's perspective, because it's so much more of a slap in the face hearing Luisa freak out about pressure after seeing her as this strong character id love to see your full watch-through :)
You should watch Encanto! It’s really good! Also it’s a shame that the full music video for ‘We don’t talk about Bruno’ dropped the same day you posted this video, the visuals during that song is one of my favorites of the whole movie
Seeing the movie is a solid yes. This film represents Disney figuring out how to do CGI movies at the level of music and visual creativity of the 90s Renaissance.
8:40 as soon as I knew this was Lin-Manual Miranda's writing I screamed YO HE PULLED A NON-STOP ON US with everyone singing at the same time like uGH GORGEOUS
Context: Encanto is about the Madrigals, a magic family living in a magic house in Columbia. Minus Mirabel, every person born into the family has a unique gift. Mirabel discovers the magic surrounding her family is in danger, and that she might be the only one who can save them. Abuela had triplets with her desceased husband, Pedro: Pepa: Her feelings affect the weather Julieta: Heals with her arepas Bruno: Sees the future Pepa married Felix and they have 3 kids: Dolores: Can hear “A pin drop from a mile away” Camilo: Shapeshifts (It is unknown if he can shapeshift into animals) Antonio: Can talk to and understand animals Julieta married Agustin and they have 3 kids: Isabela: makes flowers grow Luisa: Can lift a whole church like it’s nothing Mirabel: No gift
As the oldest of three: Luisa’s song always gets me, and I know she’s not the oldest but I feel like a lot of older siblings in general can relate to that feeling Edit: Isabella has one of my favorite parts in WDTAB, everyone else is singing their part and Isabella starts out like that but then the panic starts to set in and she’s just saying “im fine” over and over, I love this movies representation of anxiety and the need to please your family
You should listen to "what else can I do" its my favorite out of all of the songs, this is the best Disney movie musical I've probably watched, the last movie that was this good would probably be the first frozen because of the rythem and lovley melodies, I love what Lin- Manual Miranda did with all of the music
Fun Fact: for many years In latin america Bruce Wayne was known as Bruno Diaz. In the venezuelan dub of the animated movies and shows, he is still named that way
Encanto is an amazing movie and I highly recommend watching it. As an older sister I heavily relate to Surface Pressure and What Else Can I Do because Luisa feeling like she needs to be strong all the time and Isabella having to be perfect her whole life to lead by example are things I’ve experienced in my own life, made me sob the first time I watched it
I just watched it yesterday, so this is still fresh for me XD Was crying 28 minutes in, could feel the pain That second song is interesting as Lin said it's a three beat song (or something like that) so she's out of sync of her family Also yes please! DO a reaction!!
We don’t talk about Bruno, and the fact that Lin Manuel Miranda worked on some of the music makes it SOOOO much better (btw he plays Hamilton if u don’t recognize the name)
With Luisa's song "Under the Surface" not only she has to carry the weight of her family figuratively and literally, she also has to carry the town. Luisa is so responsible.
For Mathew: Mirabel (the one who you said was ashamed of her gift) No, she does not have a gift and the rest of her family has a gift but the weird thing is that Abuela (grandma in Spanish) has no gift either so that’s funny but when Mirabel said Morning Abuelo you might’ve wondered why he was not there it’s because he died when Abuela was young not really young tho
Would love to see you check out Centaurworld music! (With the video clips if possible) The singing is amazing and there's a variety of different kinds of songs! Some are silly and some are really heavy. Definitely worth the watch for someone who appreciates music. Plus the singer you liked form the MLP movie is the main character so you'll get to hear her again!
Bruno’s gift is Prophecy. He can predict the future and would tell others what would happen. But, people started blaming him for the futures that came. Blame the prophecy, not the prophet

"We Don't Talk About Bruno" is literally the "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" of the Encanto soundtrack, just absolute pure musical bliss that you can't get enough of 😂
Lin Manuel Miranda writes the best musical soundtracks in my opinion
indeed. he also wrote the music for Moana, which is my favorite disney musical of all time!
@@reddd3109 the only song in Moana that stood out to me was Shiny. But I’m excited for The Little Mermaid remake because he wrote new original songs for that.
PLEAAASE watch the whole movie, its absolutely incredible. it celebrates colombian / hispanic culture and shows generational trauma in an understandable way,,, it's such a beautiful movie i love it
Bruno can see the future and he predicted a lot of bad stuff, and his family started beliving that he was causing them on purpose
So, if someone wants to know, all the songs are somewhat inspired by Colombian rhymes and instruments used in the different regional Colombian music (which are very different from one another, we have LOTS of different cultural heritages and backgrounds, thanks to the African-Indigenous-European mixtures):
Family Madrigal: Vallenato (from the north - Atlantic coast)
Waiting on a Miracle: Joropo (from the east - Llanos Orientales)
Surface Pressure: Champeta (it was Dominican and Puertorrican but got popular here around 20 years ago, kind of the antecessor of Reggaeton)
We Don't Talk About Bruno: Salsa (it is Latina in general, but most famous here by the music created in the city of Cali, and the actor who does Félix is a recognized salsa Colombian singer)
The songs obviously have the "Disney" touch and their own progression, but I imagine Lin Manuel-Miranda seized the chance to add a little bit of Colombianity to each of them as well, trying to show the richness of our cultural diversity (which is also shown by the variety of characters from very different regions living together in the same town)
Encanto was a surprisingly really good movie!! The feels were real and the songs were a vibe!
Before Luisa all strong women were in tv anyways considered ugly or gross or weird so the fact she is drawn in a beautiful and natural way makes her my favorite character in Encanto
Please watch the movie...it is physically impossible to relax seeing you don't know the story.
And that’s why coffee is for grownups.
@@justyourlocalnerd8629 I understood that reference
@@nalugermanyxd5941 *smashes coffee cup* ANOTHER!
lol
@@TeamEmmett7799 Lol, all of your references come full circle.

Mathew: "What's this magic?"
Mirabel: "This is our home!"
i still haven’t seen Encanto, because it’s already not in the cinemas or something (at least at my place), and we didn’t make it in time because my brother broke his arm and me and my mom didn’t want to go without him for obvious reasons :(
Idk where to watch it now, but it seems really fun and interesting.
Disney +
The movie is in Disney+, I don't know if it's in Netflix though
@Margaret Yankson well, my mom had to stay with him, and we just didn’t want to go without him, since we usually go to movies together, and he would be upset because he missed it or something. But yeah, i should’ve specified the reasons, lol.
As the oldest of 16 grandkids, this film hit my heart in all the right spots. I associated with Luisa's pressure to hold everyone up as the oldest. Mirabel's love for her family is so relatable. You should have seen our pre Covid Thanksgivings. Basically weekend long slumber parties. I miss those.
Encanto is my current obsession so I’m so glad you’re enjoying listening to the soundtrack
We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure are my favorites!!!!
I enjoyed the songs, but the ending bothered me a little bit of the movie itself since it felt a little too personal for some of the moments (making me legit cry) and the way everyone (especially the grandmother) was just forgiven. But the songs are lovely!
I’m so glad he wants to see the movie as a whole, the visuals on Waiting On A Miracle are gorgeous
Im not usually a huge fan of disney movies but THIS MOVIE
Isabela is FANTASTIC
I love surface pressure so much
Surfaces Pressure and We don’t talk about Bruno are masterpieces
The artist worked on Moana as well, so it’s really funny how my 2 fav recent Disney movies and their songs had him involved in production.
I love Jessica darrow's vocals in Surface pressure. Easily my favorite though I love every song
Hope you enjoy the movie!
I loved it.
Disney movies never leave an impact on me but this movie surely did.
Everything about was so amazing
It made me want to watch it again and again
Warning: This Movie will make you Cry, especially if you're prone to crying. it is cute, sad, happy and so wonderful at the same time!
Luisa is definitely my favorite character (second being Camilo-) and I love Luisa’s song as well, all the songs in this movie are just so good-
Same
It doesn’t matter how often I hear the songs of Encanto, it’s always so insane how I get goosebumps every time. Lin is absolutely irreplaceable, hopefully we‘ll get to hear more songs of his creation in the future. 🎶
Honestly I think you should react again but with the visuals, ESPECIALLY, “waiting for a miracle” is breathtaking
I’m honestly super glad they don’t have a high note in mirabels song, I’m sick of high notes I can’t reach when I’m singing
Literally nobody talks about how relatable Waiting On A Miracle is, especially as the youngest sibling wanting to be as good enough as your family.
Like, little siblings would do anything to be as good as their siblings and I relate to it a lot.
Encanto works a million times better in context, purely because of the building of the characters (the beauty and the brawn do no wrong) and then later hearing from that character's perspective, because it's so much more of a slap in the face hearing Luisa freak out about pressure after seeing her as this strong character
id love to see your full watch-through :)
YES!!!
these songs are absolutely wonderful and amazing!!
glad you're listening to them! :D
8:40 as soon as I knew this was Lin-Manual Miranda's writing I screamed YO HE PULLED A NON-STOP ON US with everyone singing at the same time like uGH GORGEOUS
A lot of the songs seems so happy from the melody but i end up crying at the end of them because they’re actually very sad in lyrics
Fun irrelevant fact:
My Highschool A cappella group that I am in is currently arranging We Don’t Talk About Bruno for a performance and I’m so excited
The entire score is beautifully done. The film will not disappoint. I was engaged throughout.
Context:
Encanto is about the Madrigals, a magic family living in a magic house in Columbia. Minus Mirabel, every person born into the family has a unique gift. Mirabel discovers the magic surrounding her family is in danger, and that she might be the only one who can save them.
Abuela had triplets with her desceased husband, Pedro:
Pepa: Her feelings affect the weather
Julieta: Heals with her arepas
Bruno: Sees the future
Pepa married Felix and they have 3 kids:
Dolores: Can hear “A pin drop from a mile away”
Camilo: Shapeshifts (It is unknown if he can shapeshift into animals)
Antonio: Can talk to and understand animals
Julieta married Agustin and they have 3 kids:
Isabela: makes flowers grow
Luisa: Can lift a whole church like it’s nothing
Mirabel: No gift
i’d be lying if i said i haven’t watched this movie everyday since christmas
Same
Same
As the oldest of three: Luisa’s song always gets me, and I know she’s not the oldest but I feel like a lot of older siblings in general can relate to that feeling
Edit: Isabella has one of my favorite parts in WDTAB, everyone else is singing their part and Isabella starts out like that but then the panic starts to set in and she’s just saying “im fine” over and over, I love this movies representation of anxiety and the need to please your family
In the venezuelan dub of the animated movies and shows, he is still named that way
I will absolutely watch a reaction to the movie by you, it's awesome and you always have something interesting to contribute :)
Encanto is an amazing movie and I highly recommend watching it. As an older sister I heavily relate to Surface Pressure and What Else Can I Do because Luisa feeling like she needs to be strong all the time and Isabella having to be perfect her whole life to lead by example are things I’ve experienced in my own life, made me sob the first time I watched it
I just watched it yesterday, so this is still fresh for me XD
Was crying 28 minutes in, could feel the pain
That second song is interesting as Lin said it's a three beat song (or something like that) so she's out of sync of her family
Also yes please! DO a reaction!!
This soundtrack is so god damn good. I listened to it on 10-hour loops before watching the movie at least 6 times. It is so freakin good!
Lin Manuel Miranda wrote the music for it. Of course it’s got a hip hop feel to it /lh
The voice of both Mirabels are amazing (Portuguese and english) i'm never tires of listening
What else can I do is my favorite song from this movie, hoping you'd react to the rest of them!
Yes! Good! Agree! My favorite song is probably Fragile Things(but mostly Wammawink's verse) but Love Is A Spark is also really good.
Funfact: in "We don't Talk about Bruno" the style of layering various singing voices at once is called a Madrigal!
Never listened to Tally Hall?
- Ruler Of Everything
- Good Day
- &
- Cannibal
- Banana Man
- Welcome to Tally Hall
Bruno’s gift is Prophecy. He can predict the future and would tell others what would happen. But, people started blaming him for the futures that came. Blame the prophecy, not the prophet
His reaction to We Don’t Talk About Bruno was like the same as mine, I literally learnt the lyrics off of memory XD
6:11 hearing Peppa and Felix sounding like chipmunks is the best thing ever 😂
You wanna know how the songs of this movie are so fire? Lin-Manuel Miranda poured all his talent into this movie's songs and had none left for Vivo.
Did you know mirabel is voiced by Stephanie Beatrice, the person who voiced VAGGIE in Hazbin hotel
I can't unhear it
"I can't overstate how good this is" is exactly how I've been describing this song to everyone that will listen to me rant about it
that mashup at the end of We Don't Talk About Bruno make my ADHD brain go SSKRRRT
Under pressure is my favorite song, it really shows the stress of being the responsible sibling of the family.
(Like me! I'm the older brother!)
