Keith's backstory episode in season 3 was the one that resonated the most with me. I'm not sure how many people considered it filler, but to me, it was one of the most riveting and thematically rich, particularly at the end when Carla tells Keith that Eren is special just for being born.
There is no filler in aot, Keith’s backstory also helped set up the return to shiganshina arc as we get the revelation that grisha comes from beyond the walls. It also gave us the “everyone is special” quote which gave Eren hope in the battle.
Taken outside the context of the story, that episode is the best, reminds me of blade runner 2049, if Keith had more screen time, he would have been one of my favourites, still he is an amazing one.
Filler people say? I think that was the moment the season was building to. The entire season Eren is having a real identity crisis, which culmulates in that amazingly composed scene, such an emotional high when Carla gives her answer while the music changes and then shows Eren emotionally reflecting on that. Genius
@Ernie Strother why do people always want someone they like to be special? Every life is already holy on its own. By that I mean something else than "special", though. I think Shadis shows some uncommon qualities early on, like sabotaging Eren's gear so he doesn't throw his life away, but before that he was just a man eager to show how different he was from the rest. And even the sabotage might have come from a very cynical outlook on life. That doesn't really make you special. But I do admit he really becomes a special man when he sacrifices himself without the need for recognition
One of the most unappreciated characters in the show, especially as he gets older. A background character who showed the way for the other characters to follow
It's really cool that Isayama considers Chapter 71/Bystander his favorite chapter. I think Bystander and Chapter 69/Friends are the two chapters that encapsulate Isayama's primary messages throughout Attack on Titan as a whole

Magath and Shadis conclusion was one of the most surprisingly profound moments in AOT for me and it’s because of what both figures stand for individually and what the moment meant as them being a duo.
One my most appreciated characters in this anime. I truly understand on a level of how he feels. Wanting to be more than he's able but isn't able too be. And it hurts him, but finding comfort in understanding what he can do even if he understands things are out of his reach he still stands strong even when the world may beat him down
Keith: you aren't born special but you have the potential to be Niccolo: you aren't born evil but you have the potential to be Eren: You are born free and you have the right to fight for it
Phenomenal video. The apotheosis of Magath and Shadis' conclusion is as powerful as it is quiet to the people they did it for and you splendidly explained it. The only history in which you have to be a big figure is the one you can only write yourself, your life.
The best part about a secondary character is that if done right you get 100% of the character development with only 1/10th of the screen time. Commander Keith Shadis is living proof of that.
I have no clue how you do it but your voice is so aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to listen to. Sometimes I haven’t even watched a series but I’ll watch your video because I know it’ll be good
7:00 hits harder after knowing that the jeagarists would eventually create the new eldian army, perhaps they did in fact, one day rise up, and maybe that’s what started the next cycle of war…also interesting to think about how floch goes down in history, how this group of which he pretty much was the leader of, would move so far into the future, I wonder how he is remembered
It's safe to assume during those years Floch was remembered as a hero during the era of the Yeagerists. He accepts the flow of time and gives himself to the decay. But he knew his time would come and bring clarity to his thoughts and give purpose to his forgotten soul and all he needed to do was to hold on.
