After Eren hits his head after failing his ODM test, he eats lunch with bandages over his head. His head begins to steam which would be comedic effect in any other anime, but is actually his head healing.
@@sanp2032 During the training, when he’s trying to master odm gear, he eats shit and bangs his head, and as we know he already has his Titan at this point so his head is healing and that’s why steam is coming off of his head.
I thought that was weird too when I first saw it, I thought it was anger at first because of what they were talking about but pushed that aside because even when he wasn’t mad he was still steaming.
@@patrickazzarella6729 Did you read the title of this video? Of course we know the meaning of Berthold's words now but we didn't know that back then, that's why it's called a foreshadowing
@@classycorgi9860 right... as if he wasn't the sole reason the scouts found out that there were traitors among them... let alone how to pinpoint them...
I remember before the reveal there was always jokes among the fandom about how sweaty bertolt was, little did we know he was sweating from the exhaustion of carrying all his SINS
Its amazing that people still have the gall to call the Reiner/ Bertholt Plot twist cheap, when it had so much foreshadowing. Or then say it was predictable smh. “Ymir being a titan was also cheap” when in S2 it was foreshadowed as well.
Eric Yang A TH-camr said those things on twitter and Aot haters hid behind the tweet trying to shit on Aot( like they always do. Any time a tweet blows up; even if the person doesn’t even shit on it, but just says “its not for them” Aot haters swarm in with their “criticism’s”) Some Parroted the same the things as the YTr, while others just made dumb “criticism”s like too much talking = boring, or we don’t know anything” etc, likes its not a Mystery genre lmao. Or It has no character development etc.
It wasn't cheap at all, but it was really obvious. This is all fantastic and very subtle foreshadowing, but anyone can put together who's the Armored titan fairly easily just by going from the character designs. Still, I maintain that Reiner being the Armored was an intentionally obvious reveal, the power of the twist comes not from it actually being surprising, but from the viewer not wanting the obvious outcome to be true, by this point we've come to like Reiner, and don't want him to be a bad guy. So when the reveal comes it's less of a "WHAT", and more of a "Dammit." Bertholdt being the Colossal was way less obvious, but that comes mostly out of him being almost a non-entity in Season 1, and the Colossal's design resembling his human form way less.
I like how Ymir is basically just some random unrelated person, neither warrior nor Paradis "devil" that got insanely lucky to be at the right place at the right time to eat the leader of the first children shifters sent to Paradis.
And despite calling herself selfish, she felt bad about taking the life she stole, and felt she had to return it. So she pretended to be Ymir, then vowed to be selfish and only care for herself, but she really was selfless and caring to the end.
At 5:57, The can was labeled “herring”. Herrings are only found in the ocean iirc, which they haven’t reached during that point. Reiner and Ymir both made the mistake of identifying the contents of the can as it gave a hint as to where both of them came from. For the can itself and how it got there, someone theorized that the castle was a base of operations for both Zeke and Pieck and thats where they store their temporary supplies
Am I remembering this right that the wall attacks were the first ever mission by Marley into Paradis? I guess they have the dock on the south coast but... I'm pretty sure they stayed away from the walls because they were shit scared of the founding titan. It must have been Zeke's like when he left his coffee on wall Maria, unless canned food existed during the era of titan rule.
@@greasybumpkin1661 When the scouts arrived at the castle they did say that it was in use recently, they just assumed it was Mountain Bandits using the castle, but it's probably where Zeke was sleeping before he turned Ragako village into titans.
@@quetz6335 yeah, and when the moonlight light there path, they are surprise to see the castle. as far as I remember that was the reaction of nanaba and his fellow scouts. (Sorry for my english) If there is something wrong in my comment please check it, I appreciate it. THANK YOU
Herring do have freshwater family members that are also good eating, however the saltwater variants are far more relevant because of their ease of fishing since they are a schooling fish making them prime for canning due to ability to harvest abundant amounts. One thing I noticed not mentioned is the name of the castle and its reference. Utgard Castle is the name, Utgard being the anglicized name of a stronghold for the Giants in Norse mythology.
Lol same 😂😂😂 I remember very clearly when I saw the ep where Reiner and B turned into titans in front of Eren. It was so stupid because I looked away for two seconds and then all of a sudden there were TITANS and I was like-wait, WHAT???
@@johnsonken96 SAME. When the colossal Titan appears behind Eren on top of the wall in S1, I thought no twist could top that. Then the Reiner/Bertolt reveal, then Ymir jumping off of the tower HOOOLLY SHIT so many stunning reveals. I just caught up with the manga and they never stop. What a series God damn
@@saradebiase9949 I get the feeling that reiner's behavoir in episode 6 started from 5 when they saw the beast titan, his split personality or repressed old self came to the surface causing some confusion. in 6 he's talking about not having to deal with breaking down the walls if eren just goes with them, because the beast showed up, and he wasn't originally part of the mission, which means marley is now looking for them. As well, later in I think 11, bertholt was asking for anyone to find them to help them, he was talking about the beast titan or marley.
Probably why he lost it and just revealed their identities to Eren, as he realized they need to go back to Marley so they wanted Eren to simply come along.
I just realised that Bertholdt "stole" the story of the old man that commited suicide shortly after meeting him, Annie and Reiner, the one about the titans arriving at dawn, him opening the window and seeing a titan. It's almost verbatim. Wow.
in the first episode, Grisha also tells eren "you have no idea, its a nightmare out there" when mikasa tells his mom about him wanting to join the scouts to see outside the walls.
@@Rinrin-ms3lp he didn't, but he tells Eren outside the walls is a nightmare, he's not as against him seeing outside the walls though, but since he lived across the sea, he knows.
@@The_Ghost_Gaming Sorry but i reread the manga and rewatch the anime and he never said something like that, he just said to Carla "nothing can surpass a human's curiosity"
5:57 Not only is Reiner surprised she can read the language. She reads the fish is Herring, which is a saltwater fish, and thus shouldn't be able to be found inside the walls. 6:18 Connie has a hard time with what to call the Beast Titan. He doesn't straight up say it's a monkey because he doesn't know what that is. Since monkeys are a pretty exotic animal.
Eren says “monkey what’s that” confused by Ymir when she says monkey. But the English version changed it bad because Eren says “Monkey don’t be cute (or) funny”
@@dantdmfangamingrich9802 It's the former "cute" Which imo doesn't turn it into implying tht he knows what a "monkey" is. Since it can still be argued tht she isnt being serious about the situation and just throwing around silly nicknames. But I do agree it more or less eliminates the foreshadowing. In sub though he says "What's this about a monkey?" Which also can imply he knows what a monkey is and he still hasnt seen the Beast titan yet; But can also argue tht he doesnt know wht one is. But again, it eliminates the foreshadowing. The manga however, has the foreshadowing more correct but instead of saying "Monkey", its instead "Ape". Eren says "What's this "Ape"?"
5:57 There's another major foreshadowing from this scene : Ymir reads on the can that it contains herring, which is a saltwater fish, thus confirming the existence of the ocean beyond the walls !
That Utgard castle probably was Zeke and Marley's crew camp when they were scouting. Canned food isn't a thing inside the wall so it must have been brought from outside.
I remember first watching I first assumed that somehow there was a more modern civilization that once lived on the island and was somehow wiped out. Because they mentioned how no one knows how the castle came to be that it had some relationship to that old civilization.
Erwin was four parallel universes ahead of everyone else. It's a shame he died without knowing the truth behind the titans as he always wanted to know.

this story is a Masterpiece.. I can't even imagine how much thinking went into these subtle foreshadowings .. Isayama doesn't deserve the hate he gets for the last chapter...
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 yea i thoight eren was just gonna kill everyone and then hed have to die to undo the curse or something but the worm i think its good they never tell us what it is or where it came from makes it more intresting people say its the progenitor of life or something but idk there wasny really anything that bothersome to me sbout the ending besides what happend to eren or the way he went out
Imagine spending various years of your life, decades even, preparing one of the most mind-blowingly crafted stories ever, just to have people hate the ending of it. That must be devastating
There was also foreshadowing for season 4 when eren and Reiner in season 1 were training with the knife, one was meant to play the villain and the other defends after eren takes down reiner he gets back up and as he hands the knife to eren he says "it's your turn to be the bad guy"
@@HarrisBoe ? Bruh, they literally talked to the guy as refugees after they breached the walk. They didn't tell Eren and the others until they were doing scout training 3 years later. You need to read the chapters, the Anime made it too confusing.
@@Osama-KIN_TMZ01 I'm anime only and it was not confusing at all. The anime clearly states, that they breach, they talk to the old man, then they go the the refugee camps and join the army... So the other guy was just not paying attention at all, it was very clear that it is a flashback...
@@Osama-KIN_TMZ01 "the anime makes it too confusing" well aren't you just a prime example? there's nothing such as "scout training." it's clearly stated that they're cadets, not pre-scouts. they're training to become full-fledged branch members, hence not everyone from their class joining the scouts

Also to the other person, I meant the Anime rushed the whole flashback and it's a facts, and don't forget that they literally cut major parts of the timeskip, there's a reason it made many people confused, it may not seem like to you, but it is to many others.
@@tb124.gaming Yes, good for you. But you missed my point, I meant that they did cut a crap ton of content and rushed the whole flashback, it's a fact. Hence why I said "it was more confusing in the Anime", because of how much is packed and easily missed, they literally did the bare minimum for that flashback. So it may not be confusing to you, but it could easily be to many others. Especially with the scenes between the breach and refugee camps.
😩💀💀i thought it was historia .. because when the scouts were standing on the tall trees. ymir was aking to mikasa - "hey , anyone seen historia ??" And i sometimes get confused b/w jean and reiner too 💀💀i was so dumb
I'm a little surprised this video didn't include a part about Eren. One of my favorite foreshadowings is when Levi calls Eren a monster in season 1: "I can tell. He's a real monster, and not because of his Titan ability." It was so ominous.. and look at things now.
@@kigonkiganoaoa9848 Yes, but Reiner is suffering from PTSD from his part in killing so many people. He had developed a split personality disorder where he was flitting between the Warrior of Marley and the Soldier of Paradis. It's most obvious in the Forest scene after eren is captured where Reiner goes crazy and Bertholdt has to remind him that hes a warrior not a soldier.
Along with Marco's gear, there was another(subtle) foreshadow to his death: When the sergeant was addressing Marco, his shadow split Marcos' face in half.
Erwin's plan was an absolute banger! Come to think of it, each scout (or a group of scouts) had a different location of Eren. If the Female titan attacked the location, the identity of the Female Titan is narrowed down and revealed which is absolutely amazing. No wonder Erwin and Armin are the ones who deduct the identity of the titans
From the get go, Erwin knew crystal clear the enemy was humans, not Titans, and that they were in the corps, or at least fed information to from the corps. With those factors, he made a plan to expose the enemy this fuckin early. Honestly, the Eldians have no idea how lucky they are to have Erwin, their greatest weapon this early on, facing the threats and military might of Marley.
erwin and armin were that smart and they reiner and bertholdt just come out like “oh yeah we’re the two bigass, hella intimidating titans y’all have been so worried about and we’re gonna fight you know, glhf”
As a manga reader, Isayama has been foreshadowing from the very start in preparation for season 4. It's insane. Idk how this plot developed from only one person's brain.
5:57 THIS is the most mindblowing foreshadowing of them all. I still remember how shocked I was with this scene when S2 first aired bcs we just found out about Marleyan and Eldian being a race with their own languages in the manga at that time. This imo is the proof of how far ahead Isayama’s thought was for the endgame of the story
@@howeyyadoing9070 that and also that Eren's powers were more important for the traitors than destroying the walls for some reason. Another one is, in Defense of Trost, when he is about to stab Eren through his titan nape to try to bring him back to reason, he says to Mikasa: "Eren came out of the titans' weak spot, so there has to be some correlation between that and the true nature of the titans". My man was only behind Erwin in starting to figure everything out before everyone else
For Ymir's foreshadowing, in ep 11 when Pyxis explains Eren's ability to transform Conny asks Ymir if Pyxis is going crazy to which Ymir tells Conny to shut up and pay attention with sweat and a nervous look on her face.
Yeah, people seem to like that better but, for me, there's times that is so exaggerated that it kinda breaks the immersion for me because they look like stickers placed in a background painting. I prefer season 2's perfect balance of using them but not too much
Man I love stories like this. Stories where you start off so small with a very limited understanding of the world and slowly reveal more of it bit by bit, totally re-contextualising everything you knew previously. It’s such a joy to revisit earlier episodes with the knowledge we have now and noticing how many things flew over your head but seem obvious now.
5:10 I always thought (in hindsight) Reiner's reaction lowkey hilarious. He's like "wait a minute, did we break the wall? I feel like I would remember that- Bertolt did you break the wall without telling me??" 5:16 He's even looking at him accusatorily!
The most hilarious thing is how they initially treat the reveal. Reiner over there dropping the big bombshell yet the camera pans away like "you didn't hear or see that...here's hanji. Focus on her." It's hard to immediately take it and reiner seriously until eren says no. Up until then he lays out the facts like he was rehersing what he was going to say and ended up saying it all out loud.
I knew Reiner and beerhold were the armored and collosal from the start because reiner's face looks exactly like the armored Titan and beerhold sticks with him the whole time. This ruined the show for me
I think it’s both. Annie squished Reiner knowing full well that he could heal They needed to make it look as convincing as possible so they wouldn’t be accused of any blame. Also, the fact the it is well known that titan blood steams is a great cover-up for Reiner to heal so openly.
Another good one is when Reiner is asked by the instructor why he joined the scouts he says "To save humanity" not kill the titans, which is the wording used in the mission he was tasked with by Marley.
another really cool foreshadowing is when erin’s dad turned injected him with the serum and told erin to ‘use their memories to guide you’ explaining all the weird dreams and memories he had that he couldn’t explain
5:59 Adding on to what you said, the can of food by itself foreshadows SO MUCH that gets revealed later. It's a can of herring, which are an ocean fish. Meaning whoever caught the fish had access to the ocean. Plus, metal cans aren't accurate to the time period of the series, or at least that's what Isayama makes you think. Canning food for preservation and mass manufacturing aren't things the people on Paradis have invented (because the royal family intentionally held back technological progress as explained later in the series.) Canned food was invented in the 1800s in real life, and mass manufacturing really became a thing in the 1900s, which hints that this can was made by a civilization at a level of tech equal to the real world in the 20th century. Adding on the fact that the label is a different language, this single scene proves that there is a more advanced society with its own distinct culture somewhere out there that hadn't been revealed yet (cough cough Marley,) and that Reiner and Ymir are from that place.
These details are so well hidden because they can be interpreted in two ways. When you read/watch them for the first time it looks like for example the warriors are compassionate people who care about their peers or panic in some situations making irrational decisions. But when you read it a second time those moments become really obvious. Truly a well written piece of work.
Even better, the three Marleyan Titan Shifters from the beginning held some fondness for the people they were eventually going to kill and rampage. It is basically both a point of showing their humanity and the fact they are remorseless Titan shifters, which is the point of the their characters.
Another important point: At the end of the season 2 opening, we see the beast titan running with a whole plethora of animals that we know only exist outside the walls. This, tied in with Eren's confusion about monkeys, honestly should have been a very obvious sign that there was more than just what we now know as Paradis.
I’m pretty sure in one of the episodes they explained that Titans don’t pursue other animals like they do with humans. So I don’t think it’s really foreshadowing since we already believed wildlife was flourishing.
Bruh it was always really obvious that they were on Earth. Of course there are animals. That part represents the will to live and fight of all creatures
Reiner escaping the female Titan is still one of the coolest scenes in season one, even if it really meant nothing once the reveal happened. That music isn’t used in any other part of the show.
I think the biggest most obvious "foreshadowing", at least for anime viewers only, is probably the AOT Junior High anime (released two years before season 2 came out), which includes a lot of references & easter eggs of upcoming stories in season 2 & 3. Idk how that was allowed lol
in one episode of aot:jh (attack on titan: junior high) bertholdt says “are we doing it right here, right now?!” the same lines he said during the reveal
ngl it was a good video overall, just project your voice a bit more and you’ll be spot on but just stay comfortable and don’t force yourself to do anything besides that it was a great video fucking phenomenal
Yeah, i agree. You sound kinda dead inside talking about these clips. Just have a tiny bit more confidence in your voice when you’re reading your script and I think it will sound a lot better.
@@invaderzz Don’t take it to heart too much! I really enjoy your lower energy style of commentary, so many videos are exhausting to watch otherwise, it’s just preference!
I love how Reiner just walks to Eren and basically says "So, like I'm a titan and so is bertholdt. We were the ones who destroyed your home......so come with us" He says it so casually 🤣
When you’re a trusted friend and leader but you’re also the Armored Titan so you think a friendly approach will get Eren to your side because you really want this to be over
It’s because he was more or less out of options. 5:58 is actually a double edged sword, they both get exposed here. One because of Ymir being able to read the can of Herring, and the other because of Reiner’s reaction to the canned ocean fish that would be impossible to know about if they only had lived in Paradis. Reiner probably figured she’d expose him and Bertholdt so he made his move first. Really incredible how nuanced that scene is.
Yes because the world is still in war and chaos. We are living in peace and security but there are hundreds of millions of people who cannot say the same. Acknowledge them and what they are made to suffer. How can we sleep peacefully at night knowing that there are children, mothers, fathers, families living in fear and poverty?
Wow, Annie just casually explaining to Jean how they could ally with the titan and use it as a weapon "far greater than any cannon," which is exactly who SHE is to Marley. I've never seen a plot with so many LAYERS!
Bert- Bertholdt didn't know what to tell Armin and Eren so he told them the story the man who hung himself told to the warriors but as if he were the one in that memory and then said he didn't remember anything after because that's all the man told them. Then Reiner interrupts him to prevent Bertholdt from accidentally saying something Armin would potentially overthink and eventually figure out. Damn...
This is what happens when you write a story with the final episode in mind before you ever out pen to paper for the beginning. Truly so well thought out and executed
Yeah. This is the only show in which every new season changes they way I see the rest of the series. That's why I rewatched it so many times, I get more pieces of the puzzle with each viewing
The foreshadowing in this entire series is just stellar. I'd say that future writers should add watch this show and take notes. The foreshadowing, the world building, the execution and pacing of an arc - it's all on show here.
I’m so mad at myself. When I first watched aot I didn’t realise the warriors were their respective titans until the reveals lmao I was so dumb. Like the female Titan looks exactly like Annie how did I not notice ffs 😭
I suspected Annie but LITERALLY THIS IS MY THOUGHT PROCESS AT THE ARMOURED AND COLOSSAL REVEAL “I’m the Armoured Titan and Bertholdt’s the Colossal.” *bro what kind of a metaphor is that* AND THEN HE STARTED ASKING EREN TO DESTROY HUMANITY WITH THEM AND I WAS LIKE HOLLUP ONE SECOND HUH😭
I could guess the female titan but not the armored and colossal titan. I believe it just shows how amazing Hajime Isayama is at writing and it makes the show all the more revisitable. I can't wait to rewatch the entire show with all the knowledge I have about future events
i think its kind of a shame that some things are inevitably lost in translations like how was any translator supposed to know that there is a HUGE difference between soldier and warrior??
@@iantaakalla8180 At some point in the dub I think Eren or someone specifically mentions that the Attack Titan positions itself "In the Vanguard" or something along those lines.
I don't understand why the people doing the dub don't just use the same translation as the subtitles, with maybe minor changes to fit better. I've only seen a few scenes from the dub but they had some crazy mistranslations for no reason whatsoever
My new video is out: th-cam.com/video/D8K-IR8mA_I/w-d-xo.html I made some mistakes in this video, I've addressed them below: 1. You guys are probably right that it's Annie's blood at 4:16. 2. I deliberately didn't include the steam on Eren's head in episode 3. While it can be seen as foreshadowing, due to the comedic nature of the scene, I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously as foreshadowing. (If it matters, it wasn't in the manga either.) 3. I also deliberately excluded the easter egg of Annie, Reiner and Bertolt in episode 2. In my original script, I had included it, but I decided against it. However, I'll be doing an easter eggs video at some point, and I'll include it there. 4. "Annie realized that the Female Titan was Annie." I don't know how I messed this one up that bad lol. I also wanted to address the #1 critique I've seen people leaving: My voice delivery. I just wanted to say I know it's not great and needs a lot of work. Presenting has never been my strong suit, but I will get better. Please bear with me for a bit while I learn to improve. Again thank you everyone for watching, the feedback on this project has been awesome, and I appreciate all of the comments.
invaderzz 7:24 I think when we first saw this in the manga and anime , we are supposed to be tricked to assume that Reiner and Bertholdt wandered outside of the wall to go camping since they were kids or whatever and then they just went back to the walls well before wall Maria is breached which would validate Bertholdt's story . But then the reveal happens , and we know that the first story is stolen .
I really enjoyed your voice here I find that there are to many voice overs done by people who just hell and scream things at the Mike your voice seemed more intellectual
I remember watching it for the first time with my roommates and I called out a plot hole being that the beast titan shouldn’t know what baseball is because it hasn’t been made yet, how wrong I was…
These foreshadows are so crazy bc looking back it seems so obvious but watching them first time seems like it’s all just emotional stress, and friends helping friends,
In episode 3 of season 1 I think, after Eren gets a head injury and there’s bandages on his head, you can see steam rising from his head before he was revealed as well.
In season one, after Eren falls and hits his head after struggling with his ODM gear, you can see the stream coming from his head while they sit in the cafeteria.
7:04 I just realized that Bertolt got that story of seeing a Titan from when he first infiltrated the island. The guy who told him the story hung himself the day after
And that's just the foreshadowing for Bertholdt , Rainer, Annie and Ymir. Just imagine the foreshadowing for other awesome upcoming plottwist dear anime watchers and enjoy this friggin masterpiece of a show.
Three of my personal favourite details that weren't included in this part: 1) steam coming from Eren's head in episode 3 after getting injury from ODM gear training . 2) the warriors most probably didn't know about Eren being Attack Titan as according to information disclosed to them stated that only shifter within the walls is the Founding Titan. So, when Eren appeared, warriors most probably thought that he is Founding Titan and immediately shifted their focus towards Eren. 3) when ep1 begins, Eren is seemingly dreaming about a pure Titan eating something and some purple flowers getting bloodied. In these both scenarios, the Titan involve is Smiling Titan (Diana Fritz). (Eating scene refers to Carla's and Flower scene refers to Hannes' death)
He said he had the main points and the ending already in mind before writing the manga and the rest just unfolded itself as he progressed through the story.
How the heck can someone make a story like this? The existence of outside world , never in my wildest dreams I would have guessed it. I thought there would be a small village where outcasts from walls lived and eventually they found out how to turn into Titan as a defence mechanism and attacked wall as a revenge and grisha was one of their test subjects. I was so wrong .lol Also kudos to wit studio for making s1-s3 so epic.I've always admired how well they executed the scenes in anime.
11:57 Also, you forgot. Reiners map said eren would be on the right wing. That is the spot that annie attacks first, and brought all those titans with her.
The fact the Bertolt just rehashes the story of the guy that the warriors met when they came into the walls is amazing writing. He doesn’t even change the perspective he just tells the story to new people who haven’t heard it and Eren and Armin believe him.
Reiner and Bertholts reaction to seeing the Beast Titan makes me laugh bc what was probably going through their heads was "Oh shit, the brass is getting impatient"
AOT is the kind of series that apon rewatch is like a completly different show. Knowing what happens in the end, everyones mental state, and who knows what at what time really changes how you see every character and the actions they make. Also on rewatch it's cool to notice things like smoke coming out or Erens head during the acadamy training and all the Warrior stuff as well
One thing is that when Eren falls on his face during his ODM training, steam comes off his face. While you're led to believe this is just an effect for comedy's sake, its aweso.e to see this small detail
Also canned food isn’t a technology within paradis island so it hints that there’s an outside world that’s more developed. With its own language aswell.
Another bit you mention is that Reiner and Bertholdt are the only characters who mention their hometown but don't say it's name during the training arc.
7:16 now that season 4 is out, i can say this. when reiner asks "why are you bringing that up", i think he was talking about the old man's story, because bear-turtle stole it from him
Annie also said something along the lines like:" I wish all people would respect eachother and see them as equal". That line gave me goosebump when I watched it a second time knowing the 2-class-society they live in.
Saltwater fish, monkeys & baseball are all things that are mentioned by characters beyond the wall. We don't really notice because these things exist to us. But they don't exist to anyone inside the walls which is why these terms are met with confusion by the people inside the walls. This means that not only did isayama foreshadow the titan shifters (like Ymir) by providing this information, but also forshadows the existence of the outside world before it's reveal in S3 of AOT
I missed the fact that nobody on the island knew what a monkey was. That makes the beast titan even more terrifying
Oh shi🤯
The way I would've shit my pants as soon as I saw that
Lmao
Which is why they called it "beast", while Ymir and the warriors called it "monkey"

Its amazing that people still have the gall to call the Reiner/ Bertholt Plot twist cheap, when it had so much foreshadowing. Or then say it was predictable smh. “Ymir being a titan was also cheap” when in S2 it was foreshadowed as well.

Some Parroted the same the things as the YTr, while others just made dumb “criticism”s like too much talking = boring, or we don’t know anything” etc, likes its not a Mystery genre lmao.
So when the reveal comes it's less of a "WHAT", and more of a "Dammit."
Bertholdt being the Colossal was way less obvious, but that comes mostly out of him being almost a non-entity in Season 1, and the Colossal's design resembling his human form way less.
I like how Ymir is basically just some random unrelated person, neither warrior nor Paradis "devil" that got insanely lucky to be at the right place at the right time to eat the leader of the first children shifters sent to Paradis.
Tbh if anyone else involved on the mainland that was turned into a Titan ate Marco, this story would’ve probably shifted so much

For the can itself and how it got there, someone theorized that the castle was a base of operations for both Zeke and Pieck and thats where they store their temporary supplies

@OMP - oh about that
I think it’s both. Annie squished Reiner knowing full well that he could heal They needed to make it look as convincing as possible so they wouldn’t be accused of any blame.
Also, the fact the it is well known that titan blood steams is a great cover-up for Reiner to heal so openly.
It's crazy to think of how smart Armin was in season 1 alone.
Season 4 armin: *b o o m*
True but whenever I compare his intelligence to Erwin it ruins it
4:53 "Annie realizes that the Female Titan is Annie"
Ah yes, the floor is made of floor
😂
😂😂😂😂
Annie: Am I the baddie?
So real
Another good one is when Reiner is asked by the instructor why he joined the scouts he says "To save humanity" not kill the titans, which is the wording used in the mission he was tasked with by Marley.
another really cool foreshadowing is when erin’s dad turned injected him with the serum and told erin to ‘use their memories to guide you’ explaining all the weird dreams and memories he had that he couldn’t explain
So how much foreshadowing do you want?
Isayama: YES
Another important point:
At the end of the season 2 opening, we see the beast titan running with a whole plethora of animals that we know only exist outside the walls.

He sounded fine.
I love how Reiner just walks to Eren and basically says "So, like I'm a titan and so is bertholdt. We were the ones who destroyed your home......so come with us"
He says it so casually 🤣

I like how at 6:23 Reiner and Bethodlts face are shocked by zeke being at paradis island.
They were probably like "what the hell zeke"
@@cheezy_toenail1969 they were like in their heads" what the hell is zeke doing here?"
Ymir looks at them too, like 'how are these guys reacting to their superior being here'
When I first watched it I thought those reactions were justified. Maybe a bit more scared than some of the 104th but nothing to look back at.
They were scared and terrified because Marley sent another titan warrior to capture the Founding titan as they cant do the job themselves
Damn...

Well, there HAVE been times Reiner realized the armored titan is Reiner.

This is what happens when you write a story with the final episode in mind before you ever out pen to paper for the beginning. Truly so well thought out and executed
Watching the anime again once you know the whole story hits different. You can see it from a whole other perspective. And I fucking love that 🙌🏻
Yeah. This is the only show in which every new season changes they way I see the rest of the series. That's why I rewatched it so many times, I get more pieces of the puzzle with each viewing

Im at s4 and i dont get it lmao, can anyone explain?
The foreshadowing in this entire series is just stellar. I'd say that future writers should add watch this show and take notes. The foreshadowing, the world building, the execution and pacing of an arc - it's all on show here.
Some will end up being more successful, but others would completely spoil and ruin their own show lol
Too many azzpulls. You should stop commenting on writting.
I’m so mad at myself. When I first watched aot I didn’t realise the warriors were their respective titans until the reveals lmao I was so dumb. Like the female Titan looks exactly like Annie how did I not notice ffs 😭
It’s actually great cuz u got to experience this shocking feeling when they were revealed...
Dont feel bad I was the same
Although I suspected annie at first i think i didn't want to believe she was a titan so i brushed it off
I suspected Annie but LITERALLY THIS IS MY THOUGHT PROCESS AT THE ARMOURED AND COLOSSAL REVEAL
“I’m the Armoured Titan and Bertholdt’s the Colossal.”
*bro what kind of a metaphor is that*
AND THEN HE STARTED ASKING EREN TO DESTROY HUMANITY WITH THEM AND I WAS LIKE HOLLUP ONE SECOND HUH😭
I could guess the female titan but not the armored and colossal titan. I believe it just shows how amazing Hajime Isayama is at writing and it makes the show all the more revisitable. I can't wait to rewatch the entire show with all the knowledge I have about future events
6:27 that’s crazy oh my god
i think its kind of a shame that some things are inevitably lost in translations
like how was any translator supposed to know that there is a HUGE difference between soldier and warrior??
@jacobb3573 mainly because the season 4 plot twist....that's what it's about, I wont say it here but that's why it's called "attack titan"
Funnily enough, the title of the story/Eren’s Titan translates literally to “Vanguard Titan” so now I would like to see Eren as a titan play Vanguard.

My new video is out: th-cam.com/video/D8K-IR8mA_I/w-d-xo.html
I made some mistakes in this video, I've addressed them below:
(If it matters, it wasn't in the manga either.)
Keep up the hard work
u did a great job 👍🏼 u will get better

7:24 I think when we first saw this in the manga and anime , we are supposed to be tricked to assume that Reiner and Bertholdt wandered outside of the wall to go camping since they were kids or whatever and then they just went back to the walls well before wall Maria is breached which would validate Bertholdt's story . But then the reveal happens , and we know that the first story is stolen .
I really enjoyed your voice here I find that there are to many voice overs done by people who just hell and scream things at the Mike your voice seemed more intellectual
Really? I thought your voice was good but oh well it will get better with time I guess
I remember watching it for the first time with my roommates and I called out a plot hole being that the beast titan shouldn’t know what baseball is because it hasn’t been made yet, how wrong I was…
Lmao same here. I always wondered why beast titan threw stuff like a baseball pitcher.
While season 2 foreshadowing felt a little on the nose, everything is season one is super well hidden it’s actually amazing
4:53 ".....Annie realizes that the female titan is actually Annie"......caught me off guard there.
Lol.
She is like "Omg i was the titan all along"
@@erenakay8873 "why of courses I know her it's me!"
hmm yes the floor is made out of floor
These foreshadows are so crazy bc looking back it seems so obvious but watching them first time seems like it’s all just emotional stress, and friends helping friends,
In episode 3 of season 1 I think, after Eren gets a head injury and there’s bandages on his head, you can see steam rising from his head before he was revealed as well.
WOOOW
Oh yeah, I picked up on that when I was rewatching. I completely dismissed it as an anime trope the first time, and then I was like W O A H
Bruh I went back to rewatch ep 3 after I saw this comment and Holy shit.
why the fuck are y'all commenting this as if it wasn't mentioned in the video?
In season one, after Eren falls and hits his head after struggling with his ODM gear, you can see the stream coming from his head while they sit in the cafeteria.
7:04 I just realized that Bertolt got that story of seeing a Titan from when he first infiltrated the island. The guy who told him the story hung himself the day after
Isayama is a goddamn genius
And that's just the foreshadowing for Bertholdt , Rainer, Annie and Ymir. Just imagine the foreshadowing for other awesome upcoming plottwist dear anime watchers and enjoy this friggin masterpiece of a show.
Three of my personal favourite details that weren't included in this part:
1) steam coming from Eren's head in episode 3 after getting injury from ODM gear training .
No reiner only figured out in season 3 when eren clntrol the titans with his scream and he was like no please everyone but eren
Also for the third part it could also means eren eating his dad
I have a feeling that Isayama planned the whole story before he actually started writing it.
No shit
@@stalemilk926 Yes Shit
He said he had the main points and the ending already in mind before writing the manga and the rest just unfolded itself as he progressed through the story.
@@swampymender4400 *Shits Aggressively*
@K.O.G.Fanstarks1610 did you know the original draft of those ending?
I love how the first few seasons are just leaving you questioning, but once you get further in it answers everything which is why I love this show
that's legit what any show is supposed to do..
I was so wrong .lol
Also kudos to wit studio for making s1-s3 so epic.I've always admired how well they executed the scenes in anime.
I actually feel so stupid right now, like I didn't figure out anything, I wasn't even thinking that there could be clues
Bertholtd and Reiner looking at Zeke: "this was not the plan, dude, what are you doing, you want to get us killed? What the hell?"
I am loving that pfp and name
6:24, Reiner and Bertholdt’s reactions are essentially the face of “Oh god, we f**ked up, WHY IS ZEKE HERE???”
Eren: I'm gonna kill you, Titan! You with your glorious, golden locks, your amazing fighting stance, and your-- WAIT A MINUTE
11:57 Also, you forgot. Reiners map said eren would be on the right wing. That is the spot that annie attacks first, and brought all those titans with her.
Exactly
The fact the Bertolt just rehashes the story of the guy that the warriors met when they came into the walls is amazing writing. He doesn’t even change the perspective he just tells the story to new people who haven’t heard it and Eren and Armin believe him.
I ve never notice brethold ready to transform dammmn
Reiner and Bertholts reaction to seeing the Beast Titan makes me laugh bc what was probably going through their heads was "Oh shit, the brass is getting impatient"
AOT is the kind of series that apon rewatch is like a completly different show. Knowing what happens in the end, everyones mental state, and who knows what at what time really changes how you see every character and the actions they make. Also on rewatch it's cool to notice things like smoke coming out or Erens head during the acadamy training and all the Warrior stuff as well
seeing reiner in a survey corps outfit looks so weird to me, I'm just used to reiners new outfit in season 4 and the manga
"She must have been the one who brought the titans when the Armored and Colossal titans broke the wall."
Reiner: *inconspicuous distress*
One thing is that when Eren falls on his face during his ODM training, steam comes off his face. While you're led to believe this is just an effect for comedy's sake, its aweso.e to see this small detail
2:12 those 3 knew eren transformed because of the sound that they are familiar with. and the smoke.
Also in regards to the can that Ymir can read: she says it says Herring on it and Herring is a friggin SALTWATER fish, as in an OCEAN fish.
Also canned food isn’t a technology within paradis island so it hints that there’s an outside world that’s more developed. With its own language aswell.
Another bit you mention is that Reiner and Bertholdt are the only characters who mention their hometown but don't say it's name during the training arc.
7:16 now that season 4 is out, i can say this. when reiner asks "why are you bringing that up", i think he was talking about the old man's story, because bear-turtle stole it from him
god damn bear turtle
If you look really closely, you can see that eren looks like the attack titan
yo i have a theory...
what if titans ARE ACTUALLY PEOPLE

I think reiner looks the most like his titan, I’m shocked I didn’t notice the first time around. Bertholdt too tbh.
