I'm excited to get my hands on one real soon myself. It's fantastic Yokomo are doing vintage rereleases and I hope we see more. It has sold well from what I can see even at the £££ UK price. I was planning on running a 10.5T brushless motor in my for vintage carpet racing.
It does seem like it’s sold well or the pre orders have all been spoken for so far , hopefully yokomo will do a good few batches of the kit as well. I hope the transmission will take a 10.5 , you would of thought given it’s got modern oil gear diffs and a beefy slipper clutch it will take it , just found it a little odd the manual stating 17.5 brushless or 21t brushed motor as recommended motor limits. Look forward to seeing your build when you get one Gav , it’s a nice build:) cheers
It certainly sounds like a Yokomo, quite the distinct whistle from the belts although for the sake of historical accuracy the 870c that was actually sold was not really the car that won the 89 worlds that car was very much a Masami Snr prototype which was how it was back in those days. Looks awesome though.
That’s right it’s not exactly a replica that won the worlds. Infact it like a tribute to the original release as there’s a lot of stuff that’s not interchangeable from tbuu it a buggy with the original . Still I think it’s a very cool Release. Cheers for watching ;)
The 870c as sold is a replica of the car yokomo debut at the 87 world's in romsey, hence the 870 part, the world's car is very different and they havnt marketed this as that car so don't get your comment m8?
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 cool I have one being built by Keith from Rcicons because I also have hand problems. Cannot wait to feast my eyes upon it 😂. Keith is a Godsend.
A very nice Model you have here Andy. It really does seem to be a smooth runner. Love that mustard yellow color contrasting with the red wheels. It really looks sharp! Thanks for sharing Dude!👊🏼😎👍🏻
Ha ha, enjoy the burgers, Andy, well deserved after being out in the cold filming! Yeah, it's a cool buggy! At first I wasn't very hyped about it, but recently as I started seeing a few videos, it's quite nice! Still not something for me, but great to watch videos with, ha ha. Have a good one, buddy!
Don’t get me wrong the kyosho worlds mid is lovely but not having as much experience with yokomo I thought I’d give them a try out especially with it being a vintage kit
Cheers Paul, it is a dear bit of kit and that’s why I chi’s the yokomo over the optima worlds so far I’m not disappointed either , cheers for the support ;)
Cheers ;) that was one of the reasons I went t for it as well , I haven’t built any Yokomo’s before. I use my 40mhz radio as I like my stick controls plus it goes with the more vintage looking cars. At some point I’ll update it but it’s not broke so it’s all good for now
Fantastic cars to own n drive,I have an og that I've run at the big vintage races here in the UK fir last 4 years,10.5 with a little turbo n boost is no issue, car is fairly strong and drives like a dream on astro. Hope you enjoy running yours m8,if you need any advice, you know where I am 👍
Hi Colin cheers for checking the video out. Good to know that the OG model has comfortably run a 10.5, so really the new version should cope no problem, yokomo must just be protecting themselves. Yep so far so good, very much liking it, drives so nicely even out the box. Cheers again and I’ll be sure to message you if I need some set up tips (sure I will ) take care mate
I think I would like to build one but did not want to spend so much just to say I built one. I don't have any attachment to the Yokomo buggies, they just were not a thing here growing up so I know little about them. It does look like it runs very well and I have heard from others as well it was a nice one to build. It just did not appeal enough for me to spend that much for one.
Cool buggy man! I’ve been thinking hard about this but it’s quite pricy for my liking. I’m really not pleased with that 17.5 turn motor limit. At the price the trans should be able to handle the power. Ultimately I still believe that the Kyosho Legendary series buggies are the best bang for the buck. They are vintage but can handle and insane amount of power, have a slipper clutch and mostly metal bits.
Nice one Adam , definitely to expensive but thought it was worth getting, as you don’t know how many chances there will be to get one. Drove beautifully on the short grass, I’ll Be trying it indoors soon as well
I chose the Kyosho 60th first because its limited. I'm thinking the Yokomo 870c Re Release will still be for sale till mid summer late fall and that will give me time to purchase mine. I own an original 870c that needs work so still on the fence if I will even consider buying the Re Release 870c. Told myself I was only collecting vintage 2WD buggies and already own two 4WD Yokomo Masami clones :) Nothing makes me more happy than vintage RC cars. I'm part of a local Mustang club and enjoy classic RC more because of the fond memories as a kid looking over magazines and racing 2WD buggies in the early mid 90's with a Losi XX buggy..,
Love it Andy, fingers crossed mine lands up this week, been delayed due to flooding. Interesting to see why they give the motor limits 🤔 i’ll hopefully find out next weekend, 10.5 going in and we are running on carpet. See if i can kill these diffs 😂
Excellent Andy it flys.. been looking forward to seeing your running vid what a great buggy always loved the Dogfighter since being a kid and seeing them in the magazines ❤ Pete
Too overpriced and poorer value what for what you expect to get for your money in 2024 . Not the components of parts you expect for a £500 only kit in 2024 , not when you can buy a RTR 8th scale HoBao Hyper VS2 for either under £500 or just over £500 , depending which ampage ESC version you choose . There is absolutely no excuse to ask for an overpriced £500 price tag for a kit of those type of component parts that it contains . Just because it's a smooth running belt drive kit , does not make it worth £500 asking price for just a kit .
Cheers for the comment. I’d agree with the fact it’s to pricey , but I don’t think you can compare this kit to a Hobao hyper RTR , aimed at totally different rc audiences on the whole. My comment referring to smoothness wasn’t justifying its price tag just merely how nice and smooth the car and drive train was. Cheers for your feedback much appreciated
Looks great Andy. Glad you were able to get your hands on one. Such a great buggy.

The car will handle a 10.5 easily especially with gear diffs,I've run a 10.5 in mine fir last 4 years with no issue with ball diffs

That's a lovely buggy pal. A lot better looking than modern ones.
I completely agree ;) I think
The. Yokomo is pretty odd looking , but has why it looks so cool
Looks awesome Andy hope you keep this one.
So far it’s being kept, I’ve been racing it at my local clubs vintage class. So no plans to move it on as I really like it as well. Many thanks 🙏

Mines otw. 10.5t going in like all my vintage cars!!
Enjoy the build ;) watch out for driveshafts breaking, seems to be a weak point
Really nice build and buggy! Like the colour too!
Cheers Paul , the colour seems to have been a bit of a hit with people, I do love it myself. Very nice buggy to drive love it so far ;) take care
That looks great Andy! Aerial tube for your 40MHz radio is an apt retro look too. Enjoy and hopefully see you soon.
Looks really nice Andy👌Good choise of paint for it👍
Cheers for that, again I’ve been really lucky with the paint colour, obviously I like it but lots of other people have as well

I think the mustard and pink looks really good. Nice build, looks really smooth.

Looks great. Id think Id pick this over the Kyosho as well. I want one!

Awesome build mate looks cool a tad expensive for me unfortunately keep the vids coming look forward to the next one 👍

andy great video wow your yokomo is fast!
Great color Andy! Better than box art imo. What channel are you on? Dont want to mix signals lol!
Cheers thank you, quote a lot of people have like the colour so I’m pretty pleased with that. Ha ha 😝 40.645 or something like that !
Goes lovely Andy! Very cool!
A 2 stick A.M. radio in a vintage yokomo. You, sir, know how to do it right!
Looks good Andy. I'm tempted to get one. I don't own any Yok's. What's up with the 75mhz?
Cheers ;) that was one of the reasons I went t for it as well , I haven’t built any Yokomo’s before. I use my 40mhz radio as I like my stick controls plus it goes with the more vintage looking cars. At some point I’ll update it but it’s not broke so it’s all good for now

Transmission will easily take 10.5t with turbo n boost, mine has for last 4 years 👍
Nice 😊 mine should arrive any day. Definitely over priced but I also opted for the yokomo over the Kyosho. Looks like it drives beautifully

What brand motor does it have? How much rpm?
Love the colours . Looks great pal
I dig the color you went with Andy nice job sir 👍
cool rc and great run
Be nice if it had all the real team worlds gear on it.
Cool buggy.
Looks great
Way over price though sadly imo
I’d agree on that , it’s a beautiful buggy but the price seems to be wide of the mark
