Sometime around 1989, Gil Losi Jr told me that a little play in the steering was important for tracking on carpet. (those were the days of foam tires, though) Your video reminded me of getting to meet him. Great job. Keep it up!
Maybe you could drive ball studs into the holes where the steering rod goes in and use a turnbuckle and ball cups as the Ackerman bar. Not sure if that would improve the slop or just break things. Also doctormosfet TH-cam channel has a lot of good info like belt slipping stuff. If you weren’t familiar.
Yep I had the steering come loose the same way in my first final. You slowly loose steering until it almost totally goes. A simple fix but a pain but O guess that’s why it’s called a shake down run lol.
Yeah, was strange. Every lap i had less and less steering untill it would hardly turn 😂 now got locktight on it 🤞 top deck now fitted and hell its stiff lol
Nice update on racing this buggy. Really weird this bar between the steering linkages , very cheaply Tamiya entry level style 😮 Can't wait to see the result with the top deck. Take care 😊
Glad it went pretty well running the 870c :) I had the same problem in loosing a front wheels they will loctite next time it goes racing. Top deck ordered , should cure the belt slip was really pleased how well it went on track. I’ve got honey combs on mine per our clubs tyre rule and they have less bite than the fusions d so it it’s not as edgy. Keep Up the good work :)
Yeah, couldnt believe it when i seen the wherl pop off 😂 i knew exactly what it was 😁 it was great to drive and going to make a few changes to the set for the next outing 👍
Heavier oil (try 675) and softer spring (one rate down from where you are) is an effective way to start to minimize traction roll. Go up in oil and down in spring rate to taste. Do these changes before gluing side walls.
Ive no idea on spares, but drive shafts seem to be a possible weak point. Ive seen a few posts from people making spares allready and hop ups, but this will have to wait, ive gotta get 2 more cars upgraded 1st 😎
Can you let me know what length bolts you needed to buy as extras to fit the top deck please? I’ve got some parts for mine coming from lightening components. Thanks for another great video
Seems similar to back in the day when these raced against Optimas. The Yokomo on paper in terms of lower weight and such should be better than an Optima but the challenge was durability and steering geometry. The Optimas at least in the US seemed more competitive probably due to durability and being that they were more forgiving to drive
It was indeed, was great to drive, i’ll be making sure this gets a good run out at southport or bury when its summer, see how it fairs against new buggys and allways good to see you 👍
Nice you're fine with the outcome. Thanks for aharing your experiences.

Sounds like it lived up to its reputation Richard glad to hear you weren’t disappointed 👍👍
I didnt kill the diffs 😂 yeah was great to drive and hopefully better with the top ive just fitted 👍
Nice to see it sorted out. Really enjoy the race tuning updates.
Cheers, im still trying to figure out what works ect, but getting there 😁
I am glad it came back in one piece and hopefully that top deck helps a lot with the belt skipping.

My top deck and towers just arrived. It should change how it drives as it was super flexible before lol
@@RCKickschannel yeah was a bit floppy 😂 you need longer screws to fit in the layshaft, i robbed 2 out of the fan housing from the xr10 👍😂

Yeah, a little dissapointed but not the end of the world. Top decks fitted and i’ll have it out again in 2 weeks 👍

No springs that fit this car, but will prob swap them out at some point. Its my back up car for my mid that ive yet to rebuild 😂
Cool update and great to see these being raced Richard! How do you think spares are going to be 😮

Ive been told its just the 2 that hold the pully, i’ll be looking at what i have in my spares bin to see if any fit 🤞
I can confirm two screws from the fan housing of the hobbywing XR10 esc fit a treat 👌😂
That lad on race control hahahaha I'll tell him you called him that.
😂 had a compleate brainfart 😁
How do you rate these shocks? Would you replace them or do you think they are fine. Cheers!
@@StainedGlassEyeBalls i would replace them, not a lot of travel for off road use, but no spring kits is the big issue
@@lo2713 Ok thanks for the reply mate appreciated!

You my optima feels like a tank compared to this 😂 hopefully have them both out in a few weeks at are next club meet 🤞
@@lo2713the older Yokomo vehicles are are built like on road cars 🤣
Heard they a little more fragile than the originals tho ?
Yeah, drive shafts seem to be one, but im sure we will soon find out as they get more running 👍
Take a look at mine re the steering..
Seems like a sucess.
