    I love to hear English phrases like “Bob’s your Uncle, Fannie’s your Aunt”. Cracks me up and makes me want to watch/listen to your Vlogs even more. Fun sewing patterns as well. Thanks Kate!

    This was so much fun! I found I needed a reminder of the original as you were comparing your finds to the original. Maybe a reduced size picture in the upper left?
    Thanks for the wonderful video!

    Great sleuthing!
    There is one more important detail in the red dress worn by Rebel Wilson. All of the skirt gathering is folded into deep inward facing pleats near the button placket.
    Because it’s under the tie it’s impossible to tell if it was sewn this way or styled this way. It’s a wonderfully flattering way to place the extra fullness in the skirt when gathers wouldn’t be flattering. Not only does it flatten out the gulf but it also creates a strong vertical line down the center of the body!
    The skirt look can be hacked with any of the great choices you picked.
    Excellent video!!!

    Yey! Thanks so much for featuring my request! I have since made the Roscoe dress and love it. However ended up cutting it shorter. Will write a review for your site x

    Love this video! The Rebel Wilson dress is similar to the Hot Patterns Metropolitan Jermyn street shirt dress which has a twist rather than a tie at the front but could easily be hacked.

    I love th see detective videos you do! You inspire me to hunt for patterns that match ready to wear looks, even if I'm not making the garment. It's just fun! 🧵♥️

    It would be great to go back and forth with the style you are looking for in a pattern..by the time you explain it I forgot what 5e original one look like..you did a lot of work thank you

    I have saved all my patterns from when I first started to sew. If it is possible to get this vintage pattern off auction website or Etsy then a vintage vogue Ralph Lauren pattern 2615 is a dead ringer for the jacket pattern you asked for suggestions for. You would just need to do short sleeves. I’ll think about the other as I think I know a pattern. What about the sewhouse seven dress for loose dress with big tie fastening belt?

      Helen Fleet thanks Helen! I’m the person who sent this one in. This pattern is perfect (with some minor alterations). I picked it up from an Australian vintage pattern seller in my size so I’ll be making this one soon. Thanks again for suggesting this pattern!!

      I loved that too, I think it has a horizontal seam just on the bust line which was a detail I really liked. I think the linen really made it too.

    Ingrid’s pick - the mustard linen dress - could check out the terrace dress from Liesel and co. Pretty close coz I had the same, pic pinned on Pinterest. But loved the other choices esp iconic patterns dress, such a unique and fashionable shape.

    Spotted this the other day whilst doing a bit of a vintage pattern search; For the short jacket at the end ; Simplicity 5642, A pattern from the '70's, There's an esty shop that has this pattern if you'd like to take a look , Sweet Peas and Pearls. Loved your video! xx

    I think you could definitely hack the BHL Anna for that dress at the end! Has the kimono sleeves and a similar neckline and you would just have to hack it to add a placket

    A pattern suggestion for the dress (at the end of the video) is the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Sorrel dress which has the same folded back detail at the neckline as the photo. It has the button down front and pockets!!

    Love the video! For the cropped jacket at the end, Burda 6801 would be a good starting point with the ability to give it a closer fit if desired. It would require adding fullness at the sleeve cap and perhaps shortening the sleeve a bit more. It appears the sleeve hem in the original photo uses a narrow elastic rather than a cuff or band -- an easy modification.

    Great vlog! I love this series, it’s so fun to see all the pattern knowledge popping up. The Sew Over It Lea dress from Issue 2 of the Lisa Comfort magazine is also pretty similar looking to the first dress.

    • @ali21pei
      @ali21pei 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      *well mostly similar, you’d have to change up the skirt a bit from being paneled to a gathered skirt with pockets, but it has the wider full length button up placket

    • @ali21pei
      @ali21pei 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      * you could definitely adapt it with the Jessica dress skirt front MimiG, you would maybe just need to adjust the placket width to make them match

    For the navy jumpsuit I’d find a fitted vest pattern and superimpose it to the jumpsuit pattern in the video. Then just extend the back zipper all the way up the back of the jumpsuit. I have a 1969 (yes!) McCall’s 9643 pattern that used this technique adding a skirt instead of pants.

    Brilliant again Kate! The collar on the dress for Penny (?) made me think of Jennifer Lauren’s Laneway, but Orr would need combining with a shirt dress pattern.

  • @cherriesnhoney

    that was awesome, nice work on pattern matching...for the stranger things character dress, i think the bhl anna can be hacked at neckline and add a gathered skirt. also i think decades of style has a similar pattern. waffle patterns has a shawl collar blazer that could also be hacked. you can leave collar off and cut the sleeves. also, the pants you listed, rebecca page just released the piper pants. paperbag waist and i think a few different versions for leg styles but the pleating and fullness at top looks very similar. thanks for doing the research and look forward to next episode:)

    Also the last dress is a lot like the Shelby dress from True Bias, just with a more fitted skirt and a tie sleeve. But I thought the bodice was more similar than the Kew, as that one has the the shoulder gathers

    For the first one, for Alice, the Megan Nielsen Darling Ranges dress is perfect - buttons all the way down as well 😊. I think someone else already mentioned the Wiksten Shift dress for Ingrid. The last one maybe vogue v8333?

    • @anniegrumbles1544
      @anniegrumbles1544 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bridget McVennon-Morgan I agree Darling Ranges would be very similar. Sew Liberated also recently posted a hack to her Hinterland Dress to be a v-neck. It has the full button placket but also set-in sleeves like the inspiration image.

    For the jacket check out Silhouette patterns #1516. Its a copy of an Armani jacket and also would fit a LOT better than the one in the picture which seems to have all sorts of things going wrong what with all the side wrinkles. Just shorten/change the sleeve.

    The blue dress... The one with the gathered skirt? (From Emma)It's an almost identical dress to the Ellis and Hattie from merchant and mills. Same neckline, same skirt. Oversized too. Would just have to adapt the sleeves!
