OH my word! Thank you Kate! First for pronouncing my name correctly (people usually pronounce it like north or South Carolina and I drives me slightly mad 😅) secondly for finding the perfect pattern (Simplicity S8990) it is so lovely! And yes, the photo was taken from the TV and it was a bit rubbish, so I’m sorry about that, and you did a wonderful job with the rubbishy photo I provided. So thank you, thank you, thank you! Fab selection, as usual xx

I say the clothing is a character alone, as you need to stop the image, just yo take in it s greatness.

the last dress looks just like the Laura Ashley dress I had in 1976. There is a vintage McCall’s Laura Ashley pattern 3309 similar that sometimes appears on Etsy or eBay, just need to have a ruffled neck and leave those shorter bat wing sleeves open, bringing them up a bit closer to the bodice to hide a bra and adding a few more gathers for the pattern version. Mine had no buttons either, it had a back zipper. It was a soft floral voile with a solid voile lining except for the sleeves which remained unlined with thin flat lace edging on the sleeves, and around the bodice edges and neck line. So pretty and flowy.

Mustard pleated dress... look at Elbe Textiles Page dress. It has centre front placket, but definitely has those pleats!

Great picks! There is an old Butterick 3601 pattern from the early 2000s that is similar to that mustard-colored dress you showed at the end. It's a maxi-length dress with tucks on the front (although not nearly as many as the inspiration picture).

Also, I'd recommend Common Stitch's Wattle-Fern dress for Allison. It has three tiers, the right shape for the top half, and the back isn't too low.

The mustard dress could be done with the vogue 9075 as a base and sewn in a pleated fabric.
For the first dress of the video, the Canopée by Clematisse patterns would be absolutely fabulous.
I love watching these videos of yours, it gives so much inspiration.

The last dress pattern you were looking for has a very good version of it called "the Heather dress" free pattern from Mood sewciety. All it is lacking is the tiny neck ruffle and a little sleeve length-just extend out the side ruffles for sleeves- easy. Wish the original pic showed the ends of the sleeves but they look like they would be basic.

The picture of the coat instantly reminded me of Butterick 6423, a Lisette design which is probably out of print by now. The collar looks exactly the same, the body not nearly as full as the pattern suggestion. I've held onto this pattern and finally got some wool to make this one!

For the mustard dress perhaps she could make the many darts before cutting the fabric , the using a simple straight dress pattern....

Hi I can't offer a pattern suggestion for the sweet little floral dress at the end, but I will say that it has a very japenese kimonoesque feel about it. I would look in some of the japenese patterns or the oragami style clothing patterns coming from asia that are becoming more and more popular. But ya i think this one is going to have to be something where you put several patterns together to make it.

The final dress... you could try adapting the Belemite dress from Marilla Walker... you’d have to play with the skirt and sleeve panels, but there is the same yoke detail at the front.

For the pleated, mustard colored couture dress, what about hacking a vintage 1980s sewing pattern like Butterick 3327? Maybe if you got rid of the shoulder pads, altered the sleeves a little, and lengthened the skirt?

Greetings from Cincinnati, Ohio! I enjoy all your videos so much. Perhaps you can help me with my years-long search for a pattern for The Perfect White Shirt. I want a shirt I can wear untucked and layer under jackets and sweaters. I’d like the shirt to be fairly “traditional” with details that make it unique (e.g., pin tucks or a empire waist seam or something?). I’d like the shirt to be comfortable, but not a shapeless tunic. I’m 66, 5 feet tall, and size 14 US.
Would it be a good idea for sewists to post their #perfectwhiteshirt? I’m also struggling to find the right fabric... too sheer? too stiff? too white? not “drape-y” enough? or just right!

I love this,it really gets you thinking and hours later, I'm still looking for patterns. For the following garments I think these patterns would help, with simple tweeks : The white checked blouse -- Simple Sew The Peter Pan Blouse. The mustard Jasper Conran -- Butterick 3601 2002. The last one ---Vogue 9328. I hope this helps. The problem after watching this is I want to make all of them .x

For the top with the big collar and frills, S.O. Sew dressmaking just showed a pattern on her channel by Lysimaque called the cyclamen, I checked out their website and it looks pretty spot on 😊 P.s, if anyone hasn’t looked at the S.O. Sew Dressmaking channel please do, she uses more Indie patterns and fabrics that are different and interesting which I personally love because a lot of dressmakers seem to be doing the same thing which can get a bit boring!

When I looked at the wedding dress I was thinking a hack of a bodysuit for the top and a wrap skirt for the bottom. The top looks very fitted and a wrap skirt would give that slit. I don't have any actual patterns but there are lots of both bodysuits and wrap skirts out there.

    • @kazuritribe
