@@user-wt5if6rx8m Yes. But maybe White isn't strictly abusive but overbearing and overprotective. Maybe White Diamond isn't even aware that she drove Pink away in the first place? You could also compare their relationship to that of Connie and her own mother. There's definitely a recurring theme with mommy issues here that's for sure.
@@izzymcgee2527 Hmm well yes now that you mentioned Connie I see what you mean. It really might be foreshadowing, even letting her mum play yellow diamond the "dismissive mum figure" (at that point) on Stevonie's dream might play a part in it
You all seem right. But we really don't have anything to look upon for relationship status of pink and white. We'll have to find out in this and next month! ... on holidays.. too bad I have so much work before it though :(
White - Denial Yellow - Anger Blue - Depression Pink - Bargaining Together - acceptance? *(E) Steven - Acceptance* (Others have pointed out that Steven would be Acceptance rather than my original suggestion, and I totally agree!!)
Theory: I think White has future vision. Or she is just extremely smart. In any case she forsaw Pink faked her own shattering. Her plan was to get pink going back to homeworld just like steven did so pink could realize that the rebellion and the war, her little game, was a terrible idea so she would stay forever. That's why White sabotaged the diamond attack. If the gems weren't corrupted, her plan wouldn't have worked. What white diamond never saw was that pink would fall in love with greg and eventually gave up her form to give birth to steven. That's why she doesn't understand that steven is someone different.
I also thought she had future vision or something like how did she know she was gonna come and not act surprised i mean why are yellow and blue shocked while they could ask a sapphire to tell pinks future and if they did why didnt they trust the sapphire
If she has future vision, what is the purpose of a sapphire then? There would be no need for them in any of the diamonds court if she could just see into the future herself.
White = Mom Yellow and Blue = Older sisters Pink = New baby EDIT: Also the only thing i question is why would white attack the planet with an attack that would destroy everything (Or corrupt everything) if she completely obsessed over pink? Is she taking part in the "Game"? The way white spoke made it sound like she knew that rose was pink diamond all along... But i just dont know why she would attack earth with that blast... An attempt to get pink back? I'd like some answers please Rebecca!
Maybe the relationship between Sadie and her mom could be foreshadowing of this too. Especially in the episode where Sadie wants to sing at the festival but ends up yelling at her mom because she's kind of over protective and, in a certain way, obsessed with her fame/success, wanting her to look/ be the absolute best
This is especially interesting since, not only did Steven (who's kind of the "new pink diamond" if you will) do the performance for her, but the lyrics of the song Sadie was going to perform heavily mirror pink diamond: "I can't help it if I make a scene, stepping out of my hot pink limousine" (homeworld originally was lead to believe she was shattered right as she walked outside her hot pink palanquin, which is not only a parallel to limousine but also closely rhymes with it) "Well, everybody needs a friend, and I've got you, and you and you, so many I can't even name them, can you blame me? I'm too famous" ("you and you and you" could be Pearl, garnet and bismuth, but the others could all be the other crystal gems who were unfortunately lost in the war, but it could also mean the gems assigned to pink diamond's court, which could go with the "I'm too famous line" since she's royalty & her subjects would follow anything she said) "Haven't you noticed that I'm a star?" (the roundtable has made another theory speculating pink diamond could have been created from a comet/shooting star, which would also explain the star motif she chose for her rose quartz form) I'm sure there's more I'm not quite picking up on here but still, the parallel seems more interesting when you think about it honestly??
Nintenderp 64 that could be. Pink has the same cut as white’s diamond. Maybe she always knew pink was too strong to be shattered. Maybe not as powerful as the other diamonds...yet
When Steven is going through the sketches of how Pink was created, you can see White’s character had a plain face before Pink was created. Then when Pink was created her facial expression changed to happy
@@jasonbelstone3427 i think steven will initiate acceptance of change within the diamonds. pink might not never come back as part of the lesson. essentially, she killed herself (to give life to her son) and this is all that her life left.
@@kencalvelo6007 It's not only the diamonds that have pearls. They can belong to many aristocratic gems. Sapphire pretended to have one in the human zoo episodes, remember?
@@abubakrakram6208 Yes, though CG Pearl is described as "fancy" so she definitely isn't any Pearl. She is White Diamond Pearl! The only question is how meany Pearls WD has? Still, CG Pearl in fact can give us some insight in WD personality. And it in fact suggest that WD may have in fact obsessive tendencies, as we do know gat CG Pearl is like that.
@@kencalvelo6007 You are aware that Pearls are one of few gems what can change they colors in order to fit they current owner? She has pink heir because she was owned by Pink Diamond. But it is safe to presume that Pink told her that she can chose own colors.
Wow! I remember Rebecca Sugar saying the premise for the show was that Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl represented different kinds of moms/parenting styles - maybe White represents another...
White is completely obsessed with pink diamond. That’s why she didnt help out during the war and didn’t make her self available as an ally towards pink and yellow and blue were addressed. That’s why she has no sorrow when seeing pink for the first time in thousands of years after thinking she was dead.
I mean I think there could be interesting parallels between our pearl and white diamond. If White’s obsession with pink is true we could compare that to our Pearl who became obsessed with rose “none of you could understand what we had” “I was the one she told everything”. Wouldn’t it be interesting if White thought “her pearl is too bad of an influence, we need to give her something to provide structure. Something like me.” Hence our pearl with her gem conveniently placed on her head. White could have been so obsessive that she made sure that Pink had someone like her with her even when she was out of White’s reach.
Felysha Valentine that makes sense. Plus our pearl doesn’t really look like she belonged in Pink’s court. Even in the flashbacks. She looks like White Diamond /trying/ to initiate Pink’s design.
I can hear the "After All" animatics slowly becoming "Mother Knows Best" animatics The one I have seen is spot on with this theory and the characters it presents for these two. Let's gooo
Actually a point that you made that pink diamond was all over the place in her earlier days actually mimics that of Steven in the beginning of the first season. That time when no one liked him because he never took anything seriously. When he constantly said that he wanted to be a part of the Crystal gems and look for all the corrupted gems!
It seemed that Blue Diamond was also obsessed with Pink Diamond for the way Steven was in tears the same movement of Blue Diamond in Steven's Dream episode
I have a theory of the family dynamic. Pink the child blue and yellow the parents (because they seem more lovey dovey/touchie to each other then just sisterly love to me) and white the grandmother. White is the grandmother that is abusive to her kids but plays a nice facade to pink being the darling grandchild. It explains the nickname as it's something grandmothers do. She acts differently to the child then the grandchild and wants everything perfect get way. And just cause the abuse doesn't happen to you doesn't mean you don't notice when it happens to those you care about.
White didn’t abuse Yellow and Blue and the ya used Pink, White abused all 3 of them she just had Yellow and Blue enact everything. Also just because someone is intimate doesn’t mean romance. They ain’t parents
So our pearl was white diamonds pearl but was reassigned to pink diamond? Wow. That makes sense. I love it! After all White Diamond and our pearl act so similar. Our pearl is over protective of Steven. Go back and listen to the songs Do it for her and in the real way.
Maybe it was because of PD's power over organic life that fascinates WD. That would also explain why she isn't red diamond and is smaller. She was an accident and because of this her power can effect humans and other organic life. This would also go with your theory of PD was made from something that cant just be ordered back or recreated and it could've been something new so when a red diamond was implemented it deformed and became PD. (And a side note. PD and WD have the same gem shapes which could mean that they were supposed to have the same power level. [That's a side not because the least amount of evidence supports it]).
It TOTALLY makes sense. Not only that, the Crewniverse wanting to touch on the idea of abusive parents makes sense too. Steven has ONLY known his parents through Greg, and Greg is a loving, caring father. This new abusive mother dynamic might serve as really good development for Steven
Yakob esp since i bet steven doesnt know how to act when people do bad things to him while claiming to love him. to him, love is always pure and can never be bad.
What I think went wrong with the Diamond attack: Yellow Diamond holds control of the physical form. Blue Diamond, a gem’s emotions. And White, their sanity and mind. So that leaves Pink to control the actual gem...but she wasn’t there. Now with that being said, if this is true then Pink Diamond has a dark power, the creation and destruction of the gem. What do ya think bout that, is it plausible? So some might ask “Well if the Diamonds knew about that attack then wouldn’t they know what would happen if Pink didn’t help?” Well to that I point at White Diamond! She presumably knew that Pink was alive all this time because her reaction to pink coming home. So what if white told them it would work perfectly fine without Pink? I mean she seems to be the boss Diamond, so they would listen to her. What if white knew Pink would survive it if it was just the three of them?
Well pink diamonds are one of the most mysterious and rarest diamonds , it could actually explain why she is so small they didn't find enough resources for a pink diamond since it's very rare (and they probably were on hurry they couldn't wait to collect all of the resources).
Noah Padgett She made that because she’s a diamond and she needed to make her shattering believable, no one said she’s limited to diamonds. Btw not just for you but for everyone, I know the Gems she makes have no sentience.
I feel like white and pinks powers there would be reversed because of what steven can do in his sleep but. Really either could be true because of the healing steven can do. Now i think of it. All the diamonds may be able to astral project since we see steven directly interact with the diamonds thoughts. With them as physical beings while the others steven just could jump through. I'm rambling sorry. Just woke up lol
It all makes sense now! It's true that blue and yellow never truely cared about pink because they always ignored her requests and never really listened to her. But on the other hand white was always overprotective of pink and never misjudged her! All she wanted was the best for her starlight but in a "different" way. She never really considered how pink felt but just decided to do what she thought was best... No wonder why pink doesn't even miss homeworld at all!
I get it now, In the episode, "Familiar" Steven sees Yellow and Blue and entertains them. Yellow was confused about how White Diamond would want to let Pink in her head, who had one colony that failed, while Yellow had several successful colonies. This concludes the diamonds were really close to Pink, especially White. White Diamond loved Pink Diamond and was probably annoyed when she really wanted a colony. White knew with Pink Diamond's sweet heart, that she wouldn't destroy Earth, and if white diamond can see through pearl's eyes or could see through the future, she must've planned to semi-permanently corrupt all gems on earth. She knew the other diamonds wont accept Pink and she would have to go back to homeworld to entertain the diamonds again. However, maybe, White Diamond must've just assumed everything, but didn't expect Pink to give in and take a new form as Steven, Heck, like the other diamonds, they don't completely believe Steven is different from Pink, but if/when they do I guess that connects to White Pearl being sad
Can't it be possible that White Diamond is just Omnipresent?? WD spoke to Steven as if she saw everything that happened, from Pink wanting a colony, to Pink turning to Rose Quartz. It can be that WD was aware the entire time of Pinks plan to be Rose, hence the diamond attack. The attack could have been to amuse Yellow and Blue....I say that because Blue and Yellow are the only ones involved with Pink colonizing Earth.....with the two YD and BD reporting back to White on how she was doing....BUT WD KNOWS EVERYTHING because she sees EVERYTHING
Yeah, and I think she knew exactly what Steven was but didn't bother to humor him by referring to him as anything other than his gem type, because through her eyes , Steven is, for all intents and purposes: The Pink Diamond.
@@JToaster well that would depend on how they work with an omnipresent character, they can be double edged swords for sure but if done right, we could be in for some interesting episodes
Well maybe White Diamond gave her White pearl so she could always watch over Pink Diamond in her stead. While Pink Pearl reminded her of Pink Diamond so she kept her.
I've always had this thought that white cares for pink more than yellow or blue since white and pink are the same as yellow and blue are. If u look at pink's diamond and White's diamond they are pointed on one side and flat on the other and blue and yellows diamonds are the traditional diamond shape like a child would draw on not a crafted one. And u can argue what a real diamond looks like but what if white was the first gem and to help rule made blue and yellow but not exactly like her and when pink was mad she was made like white and that's why white is so crazy for her
It's quite probable that White Diamond is obsessed with Pink and her activities...especially if she's responsible for Pink's considerable upgrade between the Jungle Moon period and when she was given overlordship of Earth...but I'd be wary about speculating on how much White knew about or believed in Pink's fate after her alleged shattering, since presumably PD in whatever form remaining on Earth would be obliterated once The Cluster emerged as designed. So, either The Cluster was kept as a secret between Yellow and Blue Diamonds alone, or White really did believe that Pink had been assassinated and wouldn't be coming back. (Yes, there is also the possibility that White, having knowledge of Pink's wormhole-creating powers, would think that Pink would simply use them to escape planetary annihilation.
Steven: We're here to make a ca- White: Oh dear! This one must've escaped from the zoo. *waves her hand and sends a group of gems to carry Connie away* Steven: O_O ...SHE MESSED WITH MY CONNIE! SHE CAN'T BE REASONED WITH GUYS!
It’s funny how mad people got about the movie for changing white into a clingy grandma when looking back it’s pretty strongly suggested that she might’ve been like that towards pink from the very beginning.
I wonder if we are to interpret Pink using a star as the insignia of the Crystal Gems as a symbol of her “graduation” from White, a symbol of her growth and excision from who seems to be shaping up as an abusive, overbearing mother figure. It could also be a nod to her birth from a shooting star/comet, but I feel like it’s more powerful for Pink to have used her nickname from White, perhaps a nickname that came to encompass all of White’s toxicity, excessive protectiveness, her obsessive love, etc as inspiration for a symbol of her rebellion from Homeworld and, maybe more than anything, her rebellion White Diamond herself. I like the idea of your theory a lot, Vox. I think White as a villain would be far more frightening if there is nothing she wouldn’t do because of her love of Pink, no length too far or atrocity too terrible to commit, that she wouldn’t dismiss as necessary to keep Pink “safe,” as opposed to White being dismissive, uninterested in Pink, and bent only on keeping the status quo of Homeworld. Plus, like you mentioned, White Diamond representing denial in the stages of grief, would match well with Yellow’s anger, and Blue’s depression/sadness. I’d assume Pink represented bargaining, and by the end of the series, the final stage, acceptance, will be reached by the Diamonds and Steven.
5:48 I like how you indirectly showed us how inconsistent the scaling of the Diamonds are within each episode they appear in. Then again, Sugar can always say they are gems; made of light and can change their scaling whenever they please.
This... this actually explains why Rose never went to White for help healing the corrupted gems. She probably _knew_ she couldn't heal them herself, but she was NOT EVER going to look for a way to bring White into the picture again, as Rose _or_ as Pink (possibly because she was scared White would figure out that she was Rose, or because White already _did_ know Pink was Rose.)
I just realized that what could be used as back up evidence is the pearls. Since each of them generally mirror their diamonds personality. And Pearl used to be owned by white diamond. We know that Pearl is obsessive, over thinker, etc. When she's around Steven and Rose. So it only make sense that White diamond would have some of these traits.
Given that Homeworld likes to avoid confronting icky emotions at any and all costs, it'll be interesting to see a gem that is seriously emotionally stunted and had no basis to understand how messed up she is.
I thought the same thing! Maybe White IS obsessed with Pink. She's so obsessed, she would do absolutely anything for Pink so that she couldn't cause any trouble. Maybe the reason why Yellow and Blue was so afraid of White Pearl/White Diamond when Steven and Connie fused is because they were too scared of what White might do to both of them. And if something bad happens to Pink, White might punish Yellow and Blue for not being responsible of looking out for Pink. It's like a mother in-charging two of her older daughters to take responsibility of their young sister that the mother is obsessed with. White's obsession with Pink might've turned Pink into a spoiled brat when we first saw Pink Diamond. (she was all demandy and shit.) which really sickens Yellow of Pink's drama and fame. As for Blue, she not only really loves Pink, but wanted her to rely on Blue. Blue never wanted to get punished by White so she decided to play nice with Pink so she and Yellow would be safe from White's punishments. After Pink has "grown up", she realized she can't get away from White. So she faked her death as being "shattered" so the people on homeworld knows that she's gone. After that, she disguised herself as Rose Quartz and start a rebellion to escape from homeworld. Until now, we don't know what White might do to Yellow and Blue after she saw Pink (Steven) fused with Connie. They both might get lectured, punish or something worse. But, we'll never know... (sorry if this sounds dumb and I hope you guys understand. XP)
That explains what Yellow said in Familiar: "That's so unfair!I have hundreds of succesfull gem colonies, but you get to see her because your one colony is a failure!!!"
@@dusksunsetio6042 Garnet used to belong to Blue Diamond. Their is a good chance that Steven can't use his status to protect her unlike everyone else. Amethyst and Pearl are technically Pink Gems and Connie is an organic from a Pink colony. They could all be considered his subjects following his orders. Most likely Blue Diamond is in charge of Garnet fate on homeworld. From what was shown in the promos Blue does not respect Garnet at all. She had already threatened to shatter them once for fusing. Now she let's them fuse only out of respect for Steven. So Garnet is not in a very safe spot right now.
@@qazwsxedc562 From legs to here from homeworld, garnet says and I quote "Steven...will be fine.." I think she sees her fate coming already, and it isn't good. As well, the way she left the cat with greg is in such a particular way, like she won't be coming back to take care of the cat, not simply watching them over for a vacation.
My theory is that White babied Pink because she was the youngest (which made Pink childish), which, like mother and daughter, the “mom” gives the child a nickname. After her staged shattering, she went into denial and became detached. When she found herself to be correct, she was excited, which was her arms are stretched out, welcoming Pink. White was excited and finally felt something other than FAKE happiness, excitement and TRUE happiness.
I think white could also be extremely interested in how pink is a “defective diamond” and is studying what happened to her, as she is not a gem but not quite a diamond.
She might call Pink starlight because she came from a star. At Comic-Con, Rebecca said something like Steven was Rose, Rose was Pink and Pink was ---. I think she was a star because of the drawings in the promo for diamond days and also because the Crystal Gem symbol IS A STAR!!!! Hopefully this makes sense XD 💖 Some more foreshadowing probably
This theory makes sense because when yellow said " we will be lucky if she ever speak to us after this" maybe by us she means blue and yellow because they maybe convinced white to give pink a colony .Also Rebecca Sugar said that Pink diamond's behavior is influenced by white diamond and when yellow diamond said " if you dont want to be in a bubble for the next few milenials" maybe it was an exageration because the situation they were in legs from here to homeworld in the ship it was like the little sister did something wrong and the older sisters are trying to defend her little sister.
Oddly enough, this makes perfect sense. If you think hard enough, you realize - Pink would have represented acceptance. The four main reactions to the death of a loved one would be to - Deny - White Grieve deeply - Blue Hide everything - Yellow Accept and understand - Pink... How fitting.
Ok let's talk villains the only thing that separates "Heros" and "villains" is how society sees that individual but as seen from one side they may consider their actions heroic while the rest of society finds them corrupted it's all a matter of point of view to put this into example the gems of home world dont know anything or very little of humans and may consider the action of the diamonds destroying earth as "the right thing to do" and if the humans fight back they are considered the enemy of the diamond authority while humans see the people trying to destroy their plant as "bad people"
and the Funny Thing is! Real Actual People were like I'd rather live in a Zoo! f*** Earth! Pearl and Garnet are Wrong! and People seemed to have change their Minds Real Quick ! ! ! !
than Bismuth can't be too Wrong for trying to put Blue and Yellow in Bubbles! and trying to use the Breaking Point to try to Defend somebody else's Planet 🙄😏 ! ! ! !
but were Humans always considered the enemy to HomeWorld Gems and most of the Diamonds!? but than tame them like they're some kind of Animals or Something! and the only planets they're afrering are the ones that have Organic Beings on them and want to try to Destroy as many as Possible ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
YES! I've been saying this since she appeared! the animations of Whites eyes was very specific(i went through frame by frame to find a specific shot) and I can say for a fact in my mind, that she was happy, to see what she assumed was Pink, back.
I think it may be more like all of this has happened before. I think that white diamond definitely preys on pink diamond, consistent with the abusive relationship dynamic. I think that pink diamond has tried similar attempts at escaping white, and we’ll get a sense as to her passed efforts, and how they ultimately failed, in the episode “Escapism”. I really feel like Steven is pink diamonds ultimate escape. White diamond may be able to control the minds of gems, but does this power extend to organic life? If not, then Steven really is the best escape pink has from white diamond!
I think that Pink's purpose is to amuse and entertain the other Diamonds. If you look at Pink's drawings all the Diamonds were serious/bored until she was created, which shows all of them smiling (except Yellow, but she's always annoyed.) They see Pink as a child.
Pink pearl may have never even been given to Pink Diamond, her creation intended, white diamond would have wanted to see this pearl before handing her over to pink. And after having a look at this pearl she knew she could never let pearl with pink. Pink probably knew about the pearl being formed for her, but would have been told that pearl would serve her purpose, but was not "perfect" for pink. Another pearl (our pearl) would have been formed to serve all diamonds, this would give her more of a submissive personality, and would have been handed to pink in the hopes of her learning to be more submissive
Another reason for White to be obsessed with pink is the restoration power she has, at the current gem's strength Steven can heal cracked gems and revive dead organic beings BUT imagine what those powers would be capable of if pink was at yellow an blue's level or even White's, the gem would likely be able to heal corruption without the need of all 4 diamonds, fully repair shattered gems(with some side effects), and could most likely restore entire planets(like homeworld).
Good analogy of the situation coming up about white diamonds obsession with pink. I actually ever thought about it that way. EXCELLENT JOB on the charity event your hosting. You guys are the best!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Had a thought while listening to this one and had to comment. What if "White" Pearl wasn't abused because she was a bad influence, but because she was acting/being used as a proxy for Pink Diamond? If Pink is so precious to White Diamond (could totally see that as possible) but she was badly behaved, White wouldn't want to risk harming her precious baby, so when she needed to teach her a lesson she'd take out the results of bad behavior on someone much more acceptable to dish it out to: her Pearl! It's a classic Whipping Boy situation: can't harm the Princess so I'll punish this proxy that she is very close with and make the Princess watch, then she'll regret her actions via empathy/sympathy (another example of "bad" gem behavior?) but not have a scratch on her! It didn't occur to me as a possibility though until the idea of White being obsessed with Pink came up. It happened with RL royalty, and the Diamonds are gem royalty, so couldn't the same idea possibly occur to White Diamond?
Edit: read some other comments about why White would go along with the Corruption attack if Pink was so precious to her: the same reason! She knew (?) that it wouldn't affect Pink (or that she would protect herself) but would have to watch all of her Crystal Gems become corrupted, mindless monsters as a result of her actions. Maybe it was playing a little fast and loose with Pink's safety, but I think it's been discussed already that White isn't on the most even of keels...
White is completely obsessed with pink diamond. That’s why she didnt help out during the war and didn’t make her self available as an ally towards pink and yellow and blue were addressed. That’s why she has no sorrow when seeing pink for the first time in thousands of years after thinking she was dead.
It's probably because of Pink's destructive powers, that Yellow and Blue wasn't that aware about but White did since Pink was supposed to be Red. Like the Homeworld got cut in half by Pink (I think), then White Diamond took the credit. Since White probably don't want Pink to be feared. So White gave Pink a colony right away and adored Pink so she won't probably cause any trouble.
What I was thinking is she was trying to live thru her which is an obssession but instead of being "oh i cant leave bc i might miss pink" was off for me. It was more like "oh pink... Still playing soldier. So what are you doing now, pink? Oh, I'm just DYING to know..." Pink's rebellion was expected knowing how spoiled she was, and white anticipates it knowing full well that her emotions were pink's greatest fault. Being her greatest fault, white then took advantage of this and decides to play her own game. We just happen to be the new unwitting "king" on the field...
I have an idea... is it possible that all diamonds(except to white) was an part of white like the pearls inside pearl??? Like, it seems that white is detached from all emotion and the other diamonds are full of it, but... for what??? Maybe because she was trying to eliminate the weakness inside her.
We won't truly know what their relationship was like until the show explains it, but here is was I think. We saw memories of Pink begging Yellow for attention only to be dismissed and ignored for her childishness. Well if White cares about her so much that she gave her a little nickname then I think she gained Pink's favor. She gave Pink the attention that she wanted and although sheight have also Pink to be immature and young she might have listened to what Pink had to say. I think White was the one to allow Pink to gain her own fleet and planet. Yellow didn't trust Pink with that power, but no one gets in the way of White Diamond's little starlight's happiness. Pink might've found White to be scary and powerful like the other diamonds, but she probably respected her and liked her too. Pink used the star theme for her outfit as well as the outfits of all her rebel members so she must have liked the nick name.
The reason white diamond it's up sets with pink diamond is she wants to use her healing powers to bring back some kind of ancient weapon to life or something along those lines
I think that Pink Diamonds arrival via a comet, shooting star, whatever it is... That is what cracked the weakened homeworld. While homeworld would have been weakened from all of thr gems it would not have shattered. This was their planet, where they came from. The planet would have been strong enough to support and grow life. I also theorize that Pink Diamond is able to shift forms and simply being reborn from her gem produced Steven, who will grow into Pinks power and abilities. Ny theory for this comes from the fact we have seen her as a pale child, a mother, and a dark skinned female preteen version of Steven
White Diamond's obsession with Pink gives off more of a "Truman Show" vibe than a "Mother Gothel" one. It's her precious, innocent little creation whose life should be perfectly planned out.
Okay so we're perfectly on the same wavelength on this in relation to the Pearl dynamic... Now can you talk about the culture influences in relation to each Diamond and possible meanings surrounding it? What I mean is- Yellow's Extraction Room has a Mayan/Aztec look, Blue's Bathhouse has Indian influences in the arches of the doorway and (admittedly tame*) erotic carvings above the entry which are similar to those of an ancient temple, and all we know about White is that she has 20's esque makeup design and the lines and structure of her heels have a heavy Art Deco vibe.
White is completely obsessed with pink diamond. That’s why she didnt help out during the war and didn’t make her self available as an ally towards pink and yellow and blue were addressed. That’s why she has no sorrow when seeing pink for the first time in thousands of years after thinking she was dead.
The thing I think that really backs this theory up is the fact that the show has touched up on relationships of various kinds before, both healthy and abusive, which you can see the history of on this very channel if you really want to do the research. We've discussed the cycle of abusive relationships through the Lapis Lazuli and Jasper arch, we've discussed the feelings of exclusion a friend may feel when a new boy comes around, how it feels to have someone who was unbearingly open to you suddenly close off in favor of someone else in the case of Greg and pearl, how it feels for someone to mock you about your past and continue to torment you when you're trying to heal in the case of Greg and Amethyst. We've had resolutions eventually play out and they all talk and express themselves after awhile, which is healthy. Even Greg has the episode where he actively wants to be the primary caregiver again before he realized it was better for Steven to grow up with the gems. Greg has always been giving Steven a healthy amount of independence but with their town having the inhabitants it does, why wouldn't he, but he's not overbearing. However, this gives them the chance to discuss the worshipping parent. She may have been in denial but as you said it's almost as though she's elated that she's back, and she's eager to see what her diamond does. She gives me the impression that she knows her child is just experiencing something and then she thinks Pink will always come back and things will become fine one day since they're immortal till smashed. Perhaps she realizes the fact that Pink is breaking out of the norm with her emotions and how she broke away from the typical gem mind set, or the predictable mindsets of the other two diamonds (After eons, it's highly likely she knows what does what to whom) so she's seeing what could essentially being the kid with ADHD that attempted to do her job like the others then got too interested in the planet. Kind of like me on my current No Man's Sky world.
Yellow diamond in pinks ship: *_And were the ones to blame_* My sister said *_Maybe white diamond cares about pink bc the way she looks and they thought she’s not perfect, at the same time white calls her starlight because she came from a shooting star and that’s how she was made_*
To add more stalkerness to white diamond; what if roses room is controlled by white diamond, or someway involved with her. That would also explain how she knew pink was still alive and also steven
This is crazy!! That would explain her spoiled child behavior from Jungle Moon. Because White Diamond favors Pink Diamond so much, Pink feels she's just as important as the other Diamonds. Pink basically ran away from home because of her overbearing parent, aka White. I'm sure she cares a lot about Blue and Yellow, but because of White's obsession, Pink felt more at home on Earth with the Crystal Gems than on Homeworld with the Diamonds. This is a lot to take in =_=

That's true, besides...
White Diamond is a monster
I also thought she had future vision or something like how did she know she was gonna come and not act surprised i mean why are yellow and blue shocked while they could ask a sapphire to tell pinks future and if they did why didnt they trust the sapphire
If she has future vision, what is the purpose of a sapphire then? There would be no need for them in any of the diamonds court if she could just see into the future herself.

It could be.

White = Mom
Yellow and Blue = Older sisters
Pink = New baby
EDIT: Also the only thing i question is why would white attack the planet with an attack that would destroy everything (Or corrupt everything) if she completely obsessed over pink? Is she taking part in the "Game"? The way white spoke made it sound like she knew that rose was pink diamond all along... But i just dont know why she would attack earth with that blast... An attempt to get pink back? I'd like some answers please Rebecca!
Maybe the relationship between Sadie and her mom could be foreshadowing of this too. Especially in the episode where Sadie wants to sing at the festival but ends up yelling at her mom because she's kind of over protective and, in a certain way, obsessed with her fame/success, wanting her to look/ be the absolute best
Apricot Cornet makes sense
Also Connie's mom😕
This is especially interesting since, not only did Steven (who's kind of the "new pink diamond" if you will) do the performance for her, but the lyrics of the song Sadie was going to perform heavily mirror pink diamond:
"I can't help it if I make a scene, stepping out of my hot pink limousine" (homeworld originally was lead to believe she was shattered right as she walked outside her hot pink palanquin, which is not only a parallel to limousine but also closely rhymes with it)
"Well, everybody needs a friend, and I've got you, and you and you, so many I can't even name them, can you blame me? I'm too famous" ("you and you and you" could be Pearl, garnet and bismuth, but the others could all be the other crystal gems who were unfortunately lost in the war, but it could also mean the gems assigned to pink diamond's court, which could go with the "I'm too famous line" since she's royalty & her subjects would follow anything she said)
"Haven't you noticed that I'm a star?" (the roundtable has made another theory speculating pink diamond could have been created from a comet/shooting star, which would also explain the star motif she chose for her rose quartz form)
I'm sure there's more I'm not quite picking up on here but still, the parallel seems more interesting when you think about it honestly??
This especially goes with the Haven't You Noticed I'm a Star song!

White not wanting to miss Pink's return is incredibly cute to me.

What I think went wrong with the Diamond attack:
Yellow Diamond holds control of the physical form.
So some might ask “Well if the Diamonds knew about that attack then wouldn’t they know what would happen if Pink didn’t help?”
Well to that I point at White Diamond!
She presumably knew that Pink was alive all this time because her reaction to pink coming home.
So what if white told them it would work perfectly fine without Pink? I mean she seems to be the boss Diamond, so they would listen to her.
What if white knew Pink would survive it if it was just the three of them?

But on the other hand white was always overprotective of pink and never misjudged her! All she wanted was the best for her starlight but in a "different" way. She never really considered how pink felt but just decided to do what she thought was best... No wonder why pink doesn't even miss homeworld at all!
She probably meant don't Care about Humans ! ! ! !
@@fairymairah She cares about human, you fool...
I get it now,
In the episode, "Familiar" Steven sees Yellow and Blue and entertains them. Yellow was confused about how White Diamond would want to let Pink in her head, who had one colony that failed, while Yellow
had several successful colonies.
Definitely...
She either wants Pink to be like her, or the uniqueness of Pink fascinated her too much and she just wanted to analyze it
Can't it be possible that White Diamond is just Omnipresent?? WD spoke to Steven as if she saw everything that happened, from Pink wanting a colony, to Pink turning to Rose Quartz. It can be that WD was aware the entire time of Pinks plan to be Rose, hence the diamond attack. The attack could have been to amuse Yellow and Blue....I say that because Blue and Yellow are the only ones involved with Pink colonizing Earth.....with the two YD and BD reporting back to White on how she was doing....BUT WD KNOWS EVERYTHING because she sees EVERYTHING
I like the theory that White can go through CG Pearl's mind to know about this
Joshua S I don’t not like this idea but I feel like they wouldn’t make a straight up omnipresent character

Was foreshadowing on how white diamond treats pink!!
Great theory vox!
Well maybe White Diamond gave her White pearl so she could always watch over Pink Diamond in her stead. While Pink Pearl reminded her of Pink Diamond so she kept her.
that is exactly what i was saying
White and Pink Diamond are more than lovings gems that are so mysterious
It still makes me think what Rebecca meant by "WD problems are different", as if her was in another whole level of conscience
Steven: We're here to make a ca-
White: Oh dear! This one must've escaped from the zoo. *waves her hand and sends a group of gems to carry Connie away*
Steven: O_O ...SHE MESSED WITH MY CONNIE! SHE CAN'T BE REASONED WITH GUYS!
It’s funny how mad people got about the movie for changing white into a clingy grandma when looking back it’s pretty strongly suggested that she might’ve been like that towards pink from the very beginning.
Good point.
XP)
Woah...I like this angle.
Not a villain that hates, but loves...too much...in the wrong way...

@@pyrorenegade1287 Nooooo my baby!
Good Theory ! ! ! !
The four main reactions to the death of a loved one would be to -
Deny - White
Grieve deeply - Blue
Hide everything - Yellow
Accept and understand - Pink...
How fitting.
I'm WAY more excited about the start of Diamond Days now, being able to see the fallout of all of this is going to be amazing!!!

“I wouldn’t want any of the gems to end up like White Pearl”
Hehe... yeah, about that...
One things clear it’s basically a toxic parent/ favorite child type relationship.
I think that Pink's purpose is to amuse and entertain the other Diamonds. If you look at Pink's drawings all the Diamonds were serious/bored until she was created, which shows all of them smiling (except Yellow, but she's always annoyed.)
They see Pink as a child.
If your right Steven Universe just got a whole lot darker
All I'm gonna say is just look at the gem placements. (on the pearls) in it will all make sense.
This has to be my most FAVORITE theory from you pre this arc. Some valid points!!
Well she's her mom (more obsessed than blue more strict than yellow *white* )
It's probably because of Pink's destructive powers, that Yellow and Blue wasn't that aware about but White did since Pink was supposed to be Red. Like the Homeworld got cut in half by Pink (I think), then White Diamond took the credit. Since White probably don't want Pink to be feared. So White gave Pink a colony right away and adored Pink so she won't probably cause any trouble.
yellow and blue diamond is Pink diamond`s Big Sisters while white diamond is creepy creepy controlling controlling helicopter parent
So WD is neither a female nor genderless
She is a helicopter
Mind blown
What I was thinking is she was trying to live thru her which is an obssession but instead of being "oh i cant leave bc i might miss pink" was off for me. It was more like "oh pink... Still playing soldier. So what are you doing now, pink? Oh, I'm just DYING to know..." Pink's rebellion was expected knowing how spoiled she was, and white anticipates it knowing full well that her emotions were pink's greatest fault. Being her greatest fault, white then took advantage of this and decides to play her own game. We just happen to be the new unwitting "king" on the field...
how dare you organic being
WHITE DIAMOND
Welp [ I just walk away to my Ship ]
Stay TF out of Earth.
Fine
I’ll colonize ur nan
Stay away from this planet you are as bug as a metero
I have an idea... is it possible that all diamonds(except to white) was an part of white like the pearls inside pearl??? Like, it seems that white is detached from all emotion and the other diamonds are full of it, but... for what??? Maybe because she was trying to eliminate the weakness inside her.
4 days till new eps didnt realize omg
I mean... Who can't get enough of Pink? She's so joyfull and care-free.
Austric the reson why white calls pink starlight is because she came from a comet that traveled through the stars
Awestruck you mean?
@@caramelllllllll yes i ment
I think that Pink Diamonds arrival via a comet, shooting star, whatever it is... That is what cracked the weakened homeworld. While homeworld would have been weakened from all of thr gems it would not have shattered. This was their planet, where they came from. The planet would have been strong enough to support and grow life.
I also theorize that Pink Diamond is able to shift forms and simply being reborn from her gem produced Steven, who will grow into Pinks power and abilities. Ny theory for this comes from the fact we have seen her as a pale child, a mother, and a dark skinned female preteen version of Steven

*"Oh Starlight, what are you doing crawling in here?"*
I know its unoriginal dont come for me
White Diamond's obsession with Pink gives off more of a "Truman Show" vibe than a "Mother Gothel" one. It's her precious, innocent little creation whose life should be perfectly planned out.
Im surprised there was no Kevin jokes in the whole video.
Lol I pressed read more to read "read more"
Good try tho
Lolar Moon haha yea
Nice try, but you failed.
Oh god! If you're right, it would be VERY CREEPY 😶
White is completely obsessed with pink diamond. That’s why she didnt help out during the war and didn’t make her self available as an ally towards pink and yellow and blue were addressed.
Yellow diamond in pinks ship: *_And were the ones to blame_*
My sister said *_Maybe white diamond cares about pink bc the way she looks and they thought she’s not perfect, at the same time white calls her starlight because she came from a shooting star and that’s how she was made_*
*Wow, just a few months ago “Pale rose” was the shooker.*
What if the shooting star hit homeworld there for breaking it (Idk)
To add more stalkerness to white diamond; what if roses room is controlled by white diamond, or someway involved with her. That would also explain how she knew pink was still alive and also steven
Nice theory keep up the good work
This is crazy!!
This is a lot to take in =_=
Who would win a fight between
Frieza vs white diamond
That's not even fair lol
frieza will beat her ass!!
Frieza lmao don't play silly games like this
Frieza
President TH-cam I mean it seems it would obviously be Frieza as anyone would say, but we technically have zero idea what WD can do.
Maybe white was jelous and curious because white diamond doesn't understand love at all
I just have to say it all the diamonds are a virgin except pink diamond.
Don’t hate me for this comment😅
Ever since I learned that Vox bullies that poor little boy with cancer I can just never see him the same way again
I know you shouldn't hold things against yourself but seeing him so chipper and so free of guilt makes me so sad. That little boy DIED after APOLOGISING for something he was given permission to do
Early squad where you at?
I just thought..
Blue and Yellow, nor' any other gem recognized our Pearl as "Pink Diamond's Pearl". Maybe gem's (even Blue and Yellow) didn't know Pink got a new Pearl, explaining why nobody is like "Wait.."
