  • Believe it or not, we've never had the Hyabusa on the show so we thought it time to rectify that. But the interesting thing about the 'Busa is not what it is, but what it could become. Mat explains.

    It's cheap, it's fast, it's comfortable, it looks different and it has a really torquey engine. Five good reasons to buy one.

    I've never understood people calling Hayabusas ugly. They're the most beautiful sport/super sport bikes out there. They're much better looking than all those indistinguishable angular bikes with their ass-ends sticking up I the air.

    learned my lesson i traded my 2011 busa in for something different a le sparkle green 2014 zx14r and traded the zx in two years later for a new 2016 busa,there are qualities i liked about the zx(its super smooth trans and clutch and inst layout)but the busa is near and dear and just fits me like a glove in (every) catagory. i could never quite forget about the bus the whole time i had the 14:(,i just love the rawness of the busa the fit the look,love the look of it and its awesome reliability when run through the ringer time and time again.no matter what comes and goes as far as motorcycles in my garage the busa will always be a stable mate until my riding years are done.

    A bike with an extremely powerful engine, high comfort, able to reach near 300KPH, big, with great fuel mileage, durable, with a sick muscular look that reminds of a 90s anime mech and cheap to the point you can find them used at 4-5 K.

      Are you saying you are spinning the wheel constantly , which contributes to tyre wear? I agree - it needs traction control, to give more confidence in over throttle especially on imperfect road surface, but i dont think it will increase the tyre range.

    I love my Busa. Don't get me wrong but it is probably the best bike that I have ever owned.
    This guy has a few things wrong....
    1. For this size bike the brakes are completely inadequate!
    2. For people weighing over 100 kg or people riding pillion often The suspension is way too soft.
    3. There is no battle through corners! The Busa just glides. I think his opposite lean angle May have a lot to do with his struggle on turns. Haha
    4. Gear shift between fifth and six can be and difficult. False neutrals occur on occasion. I think that this is only due to lack of use of six gear.

    • @mark3evo
      @mark3evo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i agree with the above ,i am 102kg and have done the following mods
      ohlins ttx36, upgraded front forks, brembos upgrade, mapped to 195 at wheel , quick shifter, reallly pleased with the handling she really does ride around the curves, oh and the tyres of choice are contisportattack2k

    • @rolandsv8
      @rolandsv8 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) i agree - its definitely the case with pre- Brembo brakes. They are describing the latest modification with ABS Brembos. It should be better than before
      2) Suspension can be adjusted, but for my average guy's 80 kg its perfect- tight , but comfortable.
      3) it handles well on the road and in real life corners. Only the tightest corners on track could give it problems
      4) i Have had 3 Hayabusas- 2 1st gen, and 1 2nd gen- none of them had any problems with gearchange. From my experience the only weak spot is wheel bearings

    • @shortybigfella
      @shortybigfella 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rolandsv8
      Yes A few years ago now... I built a custom/Harley with Busa Front suspension and rear wheel assembly/brakes. After probably about 15,000 km the front will bearings collapsed! Luckily it was in traffic and I wasn't moving too quickly. I tried to forget about that now when I am riding my 2011 Busa at much higher speeds.

      I prefer any sport bike before 08. That's when they starting adding stuff like power mode selection, traction control, this n that.
      Honda CBR 1000rr still doesn't have all that, I believe.
      The 600rr also I believe. Honda is still about rider control - the way it should be.
      All that stuff I believe adds weight to the bikes, power mode selection I still don't understand.
      If I buy a 1000cc bike...I want all 1000cc power, sure ... you could always keep it turned off, same like traction control...but that stuff just adds cost and weight to the bike.
      But...if I get a great deal on a newer bike, I'd never turn it down! ;)

      We used to feel the same way, but the systems these days are so good that they don't stop you going quickly and can provide a useful safety net for the unexpected. Even the most experienced riders can benefit, especially on the road.
      At the track a couple of the latest superbikes have TC that is so effective you can actually use it to go quicker. You can effectively set something like a 1299 Panigale or R1 to let the back end step out a certain distance (spin up and slide) before it starts to rein everything in so you don't fall on your head.
      We crusty old farts sort of agree with you in principle, but in reality everybody will benefit from these systems, no matter how skilled they may be.
