YAY! I've been waiting for the Kate ride review because I own one of these beasties. 👍 Agreed about the throttle, it is quite a strong spring so you need some hand strength to keep the throttle open. Disagree on the clutch lever. Mine is a stock clutch lever and friction point is excellent, and nicely adjustable around the middle position. Your clutch or clutch lever is setup wrong. I've been riding for many years and this bike is the WORST EVER for pushing around, especially on wet grass lol. But, it is one of the nicest bikes for handling and cornering, really sweet, and sharp too. I wanted to say that they have decoded the ECU flash now, and the throttle maps show the ECU will not give the bike full throttle until 5000 rpm. That is the reason it feels so calm and beginner-gentle at lower revs but then becomes a wild beast above 5000. Moore Mafia has a couple vids on the busa ECU. Good to see you riding it in mode A! Thanks for the review, cheers from Australia. 😎
So, regarding the cluch... I think I put it down to the bike being used at an event day at Elvington (like a drag strip in the UK to those unaware). Lots of launching and I'd imagine lots of clutch slipping, i think it took a beating. I'd love to ride a demo that hadn't been on this day and see if it felt any different and we had adjusted the clutch to as close as it could be. But it really did make it pretty hard for me to ride which was a shame as I loved the bike!
@@UsernameKate ... I think it might be related to your Suzuki custom clutch lever? That might have different geometry to the stock one but really they should have got that right in the design. There is a mechanics adjustment down on the clutch itself, maybe someone fiddled with that when they installed the new clutch lever. I guess you tried all the 5 clicks on the lever adjustment knob? I would advise anyone, who owns the 2022/23 hayabusa to get rid of the OEM windscreen and get the Zero Gravity double bubble screen because the OEM screen put the wind right at your chin level but the Zero Gravity double bubble will put the wind at the top of your helmet ! This applies to anyone who is 5'4" tall to 6'2" tall !!!
I did replace the stock light smoke windscreen with the double bubble Zero Gravity, but made mistake of going full dark smoke , looks cool , but no good sight thru at night if you tuck in behind it !
I have the Gen 3 in White and the Gen 2 in white/black. Both bikes are phenominal in terms of performance but the Gen 3 has more mid-range power.......mostly where we mere mortals use it ! The ride by wire throttle is the reason for the 'stiffness' on the throttle grip. You will get used to it and when you turn off the cruise control its a forward twist to cancel it hence the multi-function throttle grip. Glad you love the Gen 3. Its a fabulous bike
I'm new here so I know this is way late, but you stopping to give your wrists a break tells me everything I need to know about this bike. As far as me riding it that is. I've always wanted to try it sometime but I don't ride sport bikes because my wrists get tired easy. Still I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Kate really enjoyed this blog as I love the look of the gen 3 and thanks for your honest comments on the clutch etc and hope your feeling better soon take care and be safe
Back in 2013 I had a ride of mates 2011 Hayabusa for a couple of hours (he rode my 2012 VFR1200f) and we rode through traffic and later highway and mountain twisties. I found it a much smoother bike in traffic, just as good in the twisties and it definitely had more power than the VFR when you gave it the berries. The only downside for me was a more forward leaning seating position than the VFR and as I was age 51 back then I did start feeling discomfort. Still though, a truly great bike. PS: It's so very good to see you back riding again Kate.
Glad you got to experience the mighty busa! And unfortunately, I still can't ride. But I filmed sooo much when I was taking my health for granted and I had about a 2 month backlog! 💪

Hi Kate, enjoyed your little run on the Busa, a few years ago I had two new ZZR1400 this sort of hyper bike really was under rated in as much that they are happy when you potter about on one, but give it the beans and warp speed comes very quickly, and even though they are long and low they can still hustle. But eventually the riding position and my aging frame led me down the GS route. Hope you get a chance to give it the beans safely, without losing your license. Thank you...

Cracking review and nice riding. I have a 2006 Gen 1 Busa (prefer the basic fully analogue dash TBH), bought it last September, 18 months after passing my test (aged 49) and a few thousand miles on a K4 GSXR600, i'm absolutely in love with it, the weight is a bit of a bind when moving it about (i'm not huge at 5'7") but small price to pay for the lovely ride, the weight makes it feel very stable and planted when on the move. The "big Gixxer" comment was spot on, i fitted a 1" bar riser to mine which made a big difference.
Good review! Had exactly the same issue with clutch lever as well as finding out the suspension settings were completely wrong (for anyone!) after picking my new bike! Don't you just love dealers and their PDI protocols.................!! Agree with all your points except having one as sole bike 🙂 - but still had to adjust mine to help this ancient body - bar risers, lower pegs and taller screen for comfort - 4 into 1 exhaust and carbon wheels to help lighten the weight - absolutely love it, so easy to ride slowly or making progress and with a bit of luck should see me out!
That bumpy road is the longest continuous gradient in England. 968 feet of climbing in 5.5 miles ( Oliver Collinge Climb). Usually full of MAMILs in summer attempting it in the opposite direction to you. Great review.
Nice one Kate 👍 hoping to see Your review as I pick up mine next Wednesday I'll take note About the travel of the levers And the Clutch bite many thanks Ps they pull out in front of you as well here in Tasmania 😲
I think I put it down to the bike being used at an event day at elevington (like a drag strip in the UK). Lots of launching and I'd imagine lots of clutch slipping. I'd look to ride a demo that hadn't been on this day and see if it felt any different and we had adjusted the clutch to as close as it could be.
Great review, I have a Gen1 Hayabusa, ZZ-R 1100 & a FZR 1000 and the Busa is significantly more heavy to manoeuvre around the garage than the others. Lovely balanced bike on the road though, I'd love a Gen 3 to join the fleet!
Back in 97 I bought a ZZR1100 and my mate bought a Busa. One day we decided to have a roll on competition from second gear up Wrotham hill in Kent, which back then was a popular stretch of road for speed testing. Within seconds of the nod, my mate was just a blip in the distance. My ZZR might as well have been a 250 superdream.
Fair play to you , your enthusiasm for biking reminds me of how I felt years ago ( kids ago)🤣when I last rode , Er indoors has given me the green light for a bike one day soon , fancy a Duke 125 or 390 , really can’t wait 🥳🥳🥳💨💨 Keep up there great work Kate 👍
Next time you get off at milnrow, head towards Huddersfield instead. There's some nice twisty roads and a big straight. Plus a great place to stop and enjoy the view, while enjoying an ice cream in summer.
Great ride Kate! She's a big beast and that sound track is awesome. I have a the last gen2 ( less tech) and also struggle pushing her around. Her weight is most apparent on steep slopes and I dropped her last week on her right side whilst stopped on a hill at a junction( off camber) as did the rider in front !)
Proper bumpy is that road down to Mytholmroyd, not the best but does get the suspension tested, once down into Hebden take the road over to Wycollar.. nice road, as they mainly are around there…
I have the same gen 3 Hayabusa in silver. I lowered 2” in rear which helped me balance it better, added a full Voodoo exhaust system (dropped 40+ lbs of weight from stock), Zero Gravity double bubble windscreen and most recently did the ECU flash and dyno tune. Not sure if y’all have the ECU flash update yet in Europe?? but we have it in the states. The flash helped the throttle response since it’s a ride by wire system it takes some force lol - Amy
I put a Puig windshield on my '23 and found that I can go 75 mph without getting my head buffeted around as with the stock windshield. It was good up to 65 mph. I also bought the eBay aluminum foot pegs which drop about 1.5". Now I am not so scissored-up on the bike, being 5'9". Bar risers will give me another inch or so of decompression and then touring will be feasible. Very good review; thanks.
Excellent feedback. I am the same height and find the stock screen aims the windblast straight where I crack the visor open. Also fancy the lower footpegs and bar risers. Apart from that this generation of the Hayabusa is by far the best.

Your health problems are constantly on my mind I do hope you get it sorted very soon 👍🤗👏👏👏
Your 100% correct on the 2 issues about the bike clutch engagement it is to long and throttle stiffness is the same for me, I fitted some moto cnc bar raisers and honestly it sorted out the throttle feel god only knows how but the clutch is the same but I’m used to it now after 1500 miles great review as always as my mum used to say firm but fair reviewer 😇
Ah glad it's not just me with those difficulties! A lot of people said I was wrong about the clutch but I'm only reporting on what I feel and what my experience of it was. Glad to know I'm not crazy... 😊
Crag vale is a bumpy old road, I cant imagine it being much fun on a sports bike. Hope you can get back out on the bike soon! Keep up the great work :)
I stumbled onto your channel Had over 25 motorcycles over the years decided this year to buy myself a beginner bike again 250 ninja Love your channel I will keep watching
Stupendous machine, always was. However, in an era when most motorcycles seem to have been designed by a challenged six-year-old with a transformers toy fixation, the Hayabusa still easily wins the “styled like a sack of goats” award.
8:51 Is your hand that far down because the clutch is too heavy to use if your hand is closer to the controls? The only reason I ask is because I have long man fingers and big hands and my thumbs wouldn't reach from there either. My hands are normally positions further up on that band on the grips.

I don't think I've ever seen such large cans!
Not even on the gsxr? Haha
@@UsernameKate Ha, well played 🙏
That bumpy road is the longest continuous gradient in England. 968 feet of climbing in 5.5 miles ( Oliver Collinge Climb). Usually full of MAMILs in summer attempting it in the opposite direction to you. Great review.
Interesting!! And thanks!
Wowser what a beast! Hope you feeling better💪
Heyy, no change unfortunately!
You definitely have balls to ride a bike like that
🤣 it's a scary as you make it lol
Nice one Kate 👍 hoping to see
Your review as I pick up mine next Wednesday I'll take note
About the travel of the levers
And the Clutch bite many thanks
Ps they pull out in front of you as well here in Tasmania 😲
I think I put it down to the bike being used at an event day at elevington (like a drag strip in the UK). Lots of launching and I'd imagine lots of clutch slipping. I'd look to ride a demo that hadn't been on this day and see if it felt any different and we had adjusted the clutch to as close as it could be.
Wish me luck Wednesday 🇦🇺
Lovely machine 😍 I'd have one in a ❤️ beat!
I remember when this thing came out in the late 90's because I was riding in the 90's...lol. The MOST motor.
💪
Great bike but not for me I need to keep my licence 🤣🤣 great vlog Kate 🏍🏍👍👍
Haha!
Next time you get off at milnrow, head towards Huddersfield instead. There's some nice twisty roads and a big straight. Plus a great place to stop and enjoy the view, while enjoying an ice cream in summer.
You look so badass on Hayabusa! 😎
Like a pea on a drum haha
@Usernamekate Not at all Kate, more like a fighter jet pilot 🤟 Second crush after highway to the danger zone in top gun 😜
Ahh it's easily done!! Hope there wasn't too much damage? 😬
Amazing looking , bikes not bad either
Haha cheers
Another good job done by the wonderful Kate 👍
Cheers John boy!
That bike is crying out for the Autobahn!
“I’m not a crackpot” 😂😂😂 love it!
Proper bumpy is that road down to Mytholmroyd, not the best but does get the suspension tested, once down into Hebden take the road over to Wycollar.. nice road, as they mainly are around there…
Ah thanks for the tips and I never really venture down there!
Niceee!! That sounds BADASS! interesting, I didn't know that about the ECU!
40 lbs sheesh!
You look at home and your best when track biking :-) Cheers from the US!
I love the track rocket man! 🚀
Love seeing tiny girls ride the busa !
Nice job on the vlog.
Trips me out watching you ride on the “wrong side” of the road haha
Awesome video as always Kate
Thanks Eli 😊
"sweet baby jesus and the gazelles" 😂🤣
absolutely class bike🥰....one for the autobahns.....was the mill behind you at 21:10 the one that caught fire ? saw reports. Have spent loads of time in this area in the past. ... really appreciate your "test" rides as they show you what it's really like. Your health problems are constantly on my mind I do hope you get it sorted very soon 👍🤗👏👏👏
this is my fav bike to date. I love my silver gen 3 😍
Glad you love it!
Thanks Kate for sharing with us. Pls I would like to see more of ur rides. How much does the bike cost in UK brand new
£16,999 😁
That thing would scare the crap outa me😲😲
Nooo, you'd be fine!
Hi Kate, thanks for the fun ride on the big bike. If you owned one of these maybe you'd get muscles like Xena! :>)
Another great vlog Kate... thank you 👌
Thank you for taking the time to comment! 😊
Hi Kate, saw that Liz had sampled this but hadn’t seen your take on it. Really nice review 👍
Thank you! 😊
Great video.. I love my, Baby Whale 😂🤣
Love your commentary and honesty❤️😅
Thanks Cosef! 😊
Now i want to make this clear i have never ridden the Hayabusa. Friends of mine have . Just the weight of it is a problem.
A bloody lump 🤣
She push it around then said.."SWEET BABY JESUS"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😁😁😂😂😂😂😂😂
Don't forget the gazelles! 🤣
Hayabusa is the best motorcycle in the world.
Mmm bit of a sweeping statement considering the company it keeps
Nice little ride we go that way from oldham usually for cake and coffee.yes your right road is a bit lumpy bumpy till hebden
Ohh, any café recommendations up that way?
@@UsernameKate we use the watergate tea rooms next to the car park
Sorry for the late reply we have been on the exact route today
Thanks Nigel!
Fantastic review of hayabusa ..familiar here in the subcontinent like Gixxer .apart from Suzuki the manufacturer...truly world class 👍🇮🇳
Thank you!!
Crag vale is a bumpy old road, I cant imagine it being much fun on a sports bike. Hope you can get back out on the bike soon! Keep up the great work :)
Me too musty, me too! And thanks! 😊
I stumbled onto your channel
Had over 25 motorcycles over the years decided this year to buy myself a beginner bike again
250 ninja
Love your channel I will keep watching
Nothing wrong with that! I hope you love it
Super review Kate 👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks!!
Stupendous machine, always was.
However, in an era when most motorcycles seem to have been designed by a challenged six-year-old with a transformers toy fixation, the Hayabusa still easily wins the “styled like a sack of goats” award.
I had a Gixxer tho K6, loverly bike but my back couldn't take it. Just as well as I would probably have got a ban on it, the power was so enticing.
Addictive that power!
Mercury motel rough as toast ahaaa.great review btw
🤣🤣
8:51 Is your hand that far down because the clutch is too heavy to use if your hand is closer to the controls? The only reason I ask is because I have long man fingers and big hands and my thumbs wouldn't reach from there either.
My hands are normally positions further up on that band on the grips.
