I’ve ridden other bikes, but having touched every bolt and fastener on that little 300 makes me love it even more. It’s not super fast, but it rips corners with the fastest bikes on the road. I come from a different "Hayabusa" angle. Even at an older age, I am at best an amateur motorcyclist. I don't do twisties - or go too slow through them- and I rarely go over 85MPH. But I bought one to join the club, the prestige factor and all. My friends would say, "You're going to kill yourself on that thing!" My answer to them was, "Every motorcycle has to be able to do 3 MPH and a 600cc can do 150MPH easily." But the truth was, my 'Busa was complete overkill, and it was too heavy for me. I love the icon, but my next bike will probably be a 600 or 750. More than enough for me. But I love them and always will.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been debating on getting a Suzuki Hayabusa as my first (and only bike)…thing is so many say it’s a bad ‘newbie’ bike because the way things can go tits up so quickly, and instead say it’s better to build up to it….my problem is, I don’t want to own 3 or 4 bikes before I get onto a Hayabusa - I’m not rich and not getting any younger. I’m not wanting to get this bike to be a speed freak on the public roads…just owning run and riding it 5mins into town and back is fine for me….so knowing there are others who have chosen this route (I.e go straight to the bike they want) is helping to sway me….
Sadly our UK test isn’t that easy. I think it helps I’m a car driver and have driven for so long - in effect I can go down a different route ‘test’ wise compared to say a 16yr old starting out on a scooter/moped….but I think I still have to take something like x3 different tests.
….ps how fckn expensive is biking gear man!!! 😂😂😂

I truly belive as long as you take the msf and utilizing basics, you can stay on any size bike because you're learning and growing with THAT bike. My wife started on 300 and 3 months later got a 012 zx14

He mentioned sg like "it was my first bike, not counting dirt bikes". That's probably part of the reason he is alive. Most people wheelie the first time they try to slip the clutch on a dirt bike. Cool interview, really enjoyed it

I mean people memed Hayabusha about it's stupid power, but it is ultimately a sports tourer with comfortable big body. If you use it slowly, you can munch miles, and Japanese did it exactly that way.

Not a big deal, my first bike was a gsxr1000. A 300cc bike can be far more dangerous than a super bike if you can't control your right hand properly.

I'm a big guy 6'4" about 255 and I'm thinking of getting a stock busa for my first street bike. I've ridden everything from a 600 to a gold wing and think I'd fit better on a busa than a liter bike or smaller

I started riding in late August to early September bought a gen 2 busa without knowing how to ride yet. My uncle teach me for 2 days first in his gen 1 till I got the hang of it which was quick cuz I drive manual then I jump on mine till the end of the first day the second day he gave more tips and third day I was already taking the class in person for my endorsement I got it and by the weekend I was already riding legally. There’s not a single day when riding that I don’t feel joyful and excited to be riding I love the bike. Be safe out there guys.
