    Thanks for explaining what is happening in our body when we’re moving through poses. The importance of this is far overlooked IMO. The goal is a deeper awareness of our bodies and far too often instructors simply call out poses.

    Your reminders on getting us to keep the shoulders down helps me a lot! I've been practicing a lot of raise arms postures by lifting my shoulders up, I think it might be one of the factor thst contributing to my upper back sore or tightness. Just done the session, feel nice and peace. And feel my upoer back loosen up a lot!Thank you!

  • @rebeccakay6939
    @rebeccakay6939 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really great practice, thank you. I just wanted to add one piece of feedback. When you said Yoga *used to* be practiced by old Indian men etc you used the past tense. I would offer that by using past tense you are contributing to the erasure of the traditional yogis who are currently practicing and participating in a non-colonized yoga. As white folks practicing yoga it is so important that we honor and respect those who've created and cultivated the practice over so many years and those who have given us this gift. The traditional yogis are practicing all over the world today despite much of yoga media being white centered.

    I absolutely adore this sequence, its so good for my back pain, but I find that the lovely instructor talks too much 😬
    I relate to everything she says, It just feels more like a sermon than a yoga lesson. I still watch it cuz its so good, but muted.

    Hi there! Really enjoyable and relaxing poses. I love YogaTX and watch the videos frequently. My only issue with this class is the discussion of "old indian men doing yoga after eating rice bowls" which I thought was pretty insensitive. I think it's an important convo to have that actually Indian culture invented yoga and the white wellness movement colonized it, making it the predominantly white female practice that it's known for. I understand the direction you were trying to take it (all bodies are yoga bodies, etc) but it came off as racially tone deaf to me and perpetuating stereotypes.

    • @kaitlynanderson4440
      @kaitlynanderson4440 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could've been a really good opportunity to discuss colonization and how to respect the original practice that we borrow from!
