    A guy I bought some parts off had a great idea for the grill section of the cowel. Cut a rectangle piece of aluminium fly screen and put it under the grill section to stop any debris from even getting down in the lower cowel area. You can hardly tell it's even there.

      Thats a good idea. I might do that with mine. Cheers

    Nice one mate, I am about to weld in my lower and upper cowl on my HZ style side restoration so was great to get another perspective on how to go about it.. I have binged all your vids and I am in the process of getting a shed built so I can complete my project. Great work and ideas, keep them coming I look forward to each episode.👍

    Hey Mate.
    I noticed that you didnt paint the underside of the top cowl..That black factory primer is pretty porous and could soak up moisture over the years.
    I hit the underside of mine with epoxy paint.

    Good Work Mate!
    I'm pretty sure that body filler goes on bare metal to get a better bond(maybe 36 grit disc) unless it's painters filler which is designed to go on a painted surface, and only for minor imperfections.

      Its quite normal these days to bog over epoxy it is designed for that

      Good point Mate but I asked around a bit in regards to this and its all good to put body filler over the epoxy primer. A lot of people told me that you wont the Epoxy to go over the bare metal and protect it as its the last line of defense and wont absorb moister like body filler can.

      @@ozjado My information is 20 years old, so ok I'm very willing to learn. It will also save me time doing mine.

    Good vid. 👍
    I’ve yet to fix my cowl in place, I’ll leave it till last so I can check the guard, doors and bonnet gaps. I have found an issue with mine as it’s only the exterior section of the cowl and the distances between various points don’t match with the old cab, some are 10mm different so alignment could prove a problem later...hmm more homework needed. 🤔

      Thats probably A good idea to leave it until everything lined up. Could it possibly be the Cowl is just not fit correct?

    Would you say its normal for blasting to leave to sealer and glue behind or was the blaster a bit lazy?

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mate not really sure to be honest. I guess the seam sealer was pretty thick so I probably should of scratched the bulk off it off before sending to the blaster.

    KBS will dull off with weathering, particularly if it sees much sun.

    Hey mate, question where do you buy your gas for your welder?

    • @ShenkeGarage
      @ShenkeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Mate. I just use BOC Gas. I have a yearly plan which you get 2 full bottles Size E of Gas for $200. Once you use 1 bottle up you just take it in and swap for another. There is no hire or upfront cost for the bottle this way.

    Cold gal does not work for that job very well. YOu need the proper weld through etch.
