You can keep it old school and get as much power from an injected system. Carby is just not as efficient. Mine made approx 450 HP which was purposely built for a nice reliable street/strip engine.
Awesome mate. Was nervous for you too. 11 yrs is a long time. Great sounding motor. You have got me wanting to get mine started now. Few more pieces and it may happen. Congrats
Hi.mate. I had the greatest laugh, lol, at your reaction to how eastbound car started. It was so in expected for you, you like had a little fright jump, lol, awesome. Mate it sound awesome all though better in real.life, for sure. Hint, if your worried about hardened seal, valve stem etc the oil additive with a chemical to re swell the seals does not hurt at all. Your doing well.and all's looking and coming together well. Keep it up
Hahah yeah it fired up so easy I was really not expecting it thats for sure. I thought it was going to need to crank for a while. Anyway was happy with that result. Def sounds better in real life. Thanks also for the comments :)
You are a dead set inspiration Sam! I am going to dust off my 12 year old HQ tonner project and hook in. I look forward to seeing yours on the road. Have a good one.
Very nice build. Cannot beat a Holden 355. I love my 308 Sandman HQ ute with the sound of side pipes. Really impressed with the level of detail, engineering and paint. Few questions; what brake system do you have, what rear suspension has replaced the leafs, did you source a IFS from Castlemaine including rack & pinion steer? I am just getting mine ready for a Holley Sniper setup which I think would go well on yours. Mine doesn't have VN heads but big valve Red Heads with Edelbrock dual plane that I milled the divider. I believe you have a brilliant Torque Power airgap Manifold. And after 11 years wow.
Thanks Mate. The Brake system is a Wilwood 320 kit on the front and Wilwood kit on the rear. The kits are from Castlemaine rod shop. The suspension on the rear is a 4 link kit from Mcdonalds brothers racing The rack and pinion was from Mcdonalds Brothers racing The tubular control arms are from Castlemaine rod shop. Both good company's and good products Maybe in the future I may look at the Holley sniper setup but I will just enjoy it with the carby for the time being. Yes I have the TP air gap manifold. I bought this 12 years ago. Its a nice manifold and complements the combo. The whole build is on my channel from very start to where it is now and all the videos are in depth on fitting 4 link, brakes, paint, rust repairs etc.
Nice one Sam. I will have a similar combo in my HJ Sandman ute :) watching your build is driving me nuts and making me want mine sooo much faster haha. I can't wait to see the bodywork start going back on ;)
@@ShenkeGarage Funny story that one. I wasn't going to but I managed to pick up a set of plates with 355 in it so I guess I "have" too haha but I'm going supercharged as well now :) After seeing soooooo many reverse cowl scoops I am going to stick with a clean stock bonnet :)
Hey Mate it's a twin 2.5 inch system with x pipe. Demon flow muffler and resonators and all parts supplied by reaper engineering. Was custom made so lengths were cut on the fly.
How quick did that turn over 💪 Coming along nicely. Bet you're getting antsy to get it on the road! Also sounds tuff 💪💪 Like you said it's not obnoxiously loud, but sounds really serious 👍👍. Great job and even better channel.
It's alive
hope its a roller camshaft not flat tappet
LALA engine service’s 😂😂👌🏻🏁

Getting there mate.
On the home stretch I feel.
Just a quick question, why are you using 20w60 in this and not something like 15w40? Just curious
That is what the Engine builder recommended to use as oil
@@ShenkeGarage ah, fair enough
Sounds mint. Building a 355 to go in my hz
Thankyou and good luck with your build. What power you chasing?
@@ShenkeGarage not quite familiar with how much you can get out of it. Like to keep it out school.

Nice mate. What heads you going with?
Nice work as always Sam. Not long now and you will be hitting the streets.

@@ShenkeGarage like a H304, nothing crazy.
@@ShenkeGarage blower friendly? Harrop are now making a FDFI Supercharger for Holden efi motors.
Check out The Skid Factory.on TH-cam.
No its not anything super crazy but a good combo for street and cruising.
Ok will have a look. Not sure if I would go blower on this thing. Im thinking my next build will be something with a blown or turbo engine.

Hey Mate. Not too sure sorry. Engine was built like 10 years ago
Sam, absolutely one of the best builds currently on TH-cam 👍🏻
