Just an observation, may be mount the tank from the underside & weld the nuts to the mounting bracket so you can service the tank in the future .Without removing the tray. Looks great. Keep up the build Cheers Gav
another awesome video that drop tank looks schmick very tidy 👌 if you decide to start it before painting just use a compressor and blow all the fuel out of the lines into a jerry
Great build/project. Isn't alu to week to handel shake from road and weight of full tank? Hope they don't break. Why did you decide to have return in the bottom of the tank? Wouldn't it to beter to use the return in the top? Is a valve in the bottom bong/connection? Isn't it to much pressure in a full tank to have return in the bottom of the tank.
Great job Sam, I’ve been watching you since the early hundred subscribers, good to see you progressing so well. I’m really enjoying this build. Who made the fuel tank? It’s mint. I personally think, run the engine and check everything, then do your painting. 👍🏻
Im not sure about running the return to the bottom of the tank, I think that may create a vapor lock as the weight of the fuel will resist the gravity flow of the return compressing the vapor in the line between the two.
The internal tank I think is 60 PSI and then it gets dropped at reg to 8 PSI. The return should have enough pressure to flow back into the tank. If not I should be able to change it easy enough.
I'm pretty sure you need to have the return at the top of the tank because there is no pressure to push fuel into the tank and you may have a heat problem with the fuel line at the back of the engine like you have it
Im pretty sure the internal pump is 60 PSI and the reg will drop it to 8 PSI to the carby. There should be plenty of pressure to return to tank from the reg.
Hey Mate thanks. I thought about removing them but I was also thinking of leaving them there just in case I ever need to put the springs back on. Very unlikely but you never know.
Hi loving the build so far, Im in the middle of doing up a HQ Coupe and getting lots of tips from you...anyway where you have the return line going into the tank, wouldnt that bung be there in case you would want to drain the tank at some stage if needed? Could the bottom return stir up any sediment and shit etc that may build up if car not run for a while? What do you think?
Nice job as always Sam. I would get it painted and finished up before starting it. Is the fuel filter placement in a bit of a shit spot to reach for changing? Know you said you will have a tilt tray but between the fuel tank and chassis rail may make it a bit of a pain once age sets in a bit and you need to “break” the fittings? Just a thought. Good work though mate.
Thanks Carl. I think I will paint it first now. You have a good point. I might have a look at a different mount. Maybe put it on the other side of the rail.
Thanks Mate. There was a few reasons why. I plan on welding in a battery tray on the left hand side to relocate it from the engine bay. I wanted to keep the fuel lines away from the battery. The battery tray will also likely be in the way once I weld it in. Also there is no hole in the crossmember to put the pipes through on the LH side. Which is no big deal as I could drill some out.
Hey mate just wondering how much u paid for the tank if u don’t mind I’m building a hz one tonner myself and I am after same size tank to suit ls1 fuel pump cheers
Hey mate I cant remember off top of my head. I think it was 2k for tank, fuel pump, powder coated. I know it was a out 3k all up for tank, pump, reg, hose and fittings etc
Fair enough. Each to there own. That was kinda the plan with the build. Had this since I was 18 so wanted to bring it into 2021 and do it how I wanted.

The tray will tilt when I build it. Everything will be accessible once the tray is lifted up.
Keep up the good work mate. Definitely will help a lot of us with our current and future builds.
Will do Mate thanks. Glad the videos will help.
Love the way you appreciate the quailty of the tank
The more i watch you the more i know we would be mates ur a good true blue aussie
Hahah thanks Mate. I am always open to meeting new people :)
Great work Sam
I'd definitely pull apart now and paint
👍
Thanks Mate. Yes that is what I have decided to do
I remember when you had 200 subscribers, now you’re at 2k 😄
did not expect to hit 2K so soon
Was thinking the same thing, does the best content, should be at 200k in no time!
@@BADQ Maybe one day
G’day Samo , great job and looks nice, take it apart now and paint it but can’t wait to here it what it sound like through the new exhaust
Thanks heaps Mate. Yeah I think thats what I will do. As much as I wanna start it up.
Hi.
Going well mate.
Looks real good.
Keep it up.
Thanks
Thanks, will do!
You're right, paint first then run
Im thinking im going to go that way
Love the vids its helpings me out while im doing my WB.
Small tip, you push with mig don't pull. 😉😉
If there's slag You drag haha
Thanks Mate. Glad the videos can help.
Looks good mate, getting my tank made soon for my Hz, I live just up the road from you, keep recording good to watch.
Oh nice mate. PM me on facebook.

Thanks Mate. Yes the tank came out sweet. Im thinking I might pull it all apart before painting

Not a problem at all

@@ShenkeGarage who made the fuel tank please?
Anthony Glozier. Hes on facebook
been looking at tailshaft looks like might be to long, could punch out the trans on suspension movement.
Cheers Mate. I will look into that. Can you tell from yoke distance?
@@ShenkeGarage yes the yoke looks to be right in.
Hey mate you can buy the clamps for those fuel filters 👍👌
Thanks Mate. I will have a look for the clamps

Hi mate. Where would.i get one of these tanks and how much.
Neat as a pin
Thats the goal :)

Hi Sam looking very good just a thought now having 4 link do you need to leave the rear shackle mounts on the end of the chassis just a thought cheers

Hey Mate. That bung was put there for the return. There is another bung directly underneath which I did not show in the video that is for a drain.
Hi just wondering what brand is the fuel tank thank you ? Great build as well buddy
Hey Mate its a custom made tank. A guy named Anthony Glozier made it for me
Mate, the only thing missing in your welding attire are a pair of Chinese work boots. (Thongs).
Haha I usually put on a long sleeve but I did not think it would be much welding. Turns out I got sunburnt arm.
@@ShenkeGarage I know I was laughing because I do the same....!
CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT YOUR DROP TANK FROM PLEASE?
Anthony Glozier. Hes on facebook.
How many litres?
I think it would be around 70 - 80 Litres perhaps. Thats just an estimate.
Nice job as always Sam. I would get it painted and finished up before starting it.

Are you allowed to run alloy fuel line in Australia ?
Not really sure to be honest
Why didn’t you run fuel line down the left side more cleaner but otherwise keep up the great work
Thanks Mate.

Will those fuel lines foul on your header pipes ?
Looking great though mate
Hey mate yeah they will clear. I dummy ran the headers to make sure.
Who built the tank?
Pm me on Facebook
Get all your pipes and hoses clamped and secured then paint Your getting very close dont rush
I think you are right. Leaning towards painting first.
Getting a bit too flashy and bolt on mate... just my opinion
