- This year, I was greeted with a ghost of Christmas past, and it was the foul mouthed black hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, packing heat and ice skating.
Not the weirdest thing that's ever happened, but let's look at the game anyway.

@Tan What, dude/lady? It's true! They all recovered from dying! Seriously! Right after they were all playing Gex: Amiibo Festival, and Gex Robo: Zip-Lash, and GexTennis: Ultra Smash! Right after that episode!! It's one of Jon Scott The Woz's best episodes!!! Although, I didn't like the anime episode that much, except towards the end, when he turns into an anime character and then fights some lady, and then, after the fight ends, he doesn't know what happened. It's hilarious, and confusing too.
I feel it's fair to say he didn't die. People keep skipping over these facts...
- He's the alleged Ultimate Lifeform.
- You never saw him get stabbed or obliterated. He just fell.
- It's a game about flying anthropomorphic Super-powered Hedgehogs who can breathe in space.

To be fair the ORIGINAL intent and statement from sonic team was that Shadow indeed died in SA2. Or at least the power of super form caused him to “disappear.” It’s even mentioned in gameplay during SA2 during the super fight if you take too long and just keep swapping characters. At one point pretty far in (and if your a Shadow), Sonic will warm him that staying in super form too long will cause your body to disappear if your not too used to the stress of being in that form, that exact thing being what was supposed to have happened as he fell towards earth. That’s also why the whole Shadow Android plot line had to happen.
Actually, in the game if you wait on the final final boss fight, eggman will say he saved you with one of his robots and used him to make shadow androids

The European one has a different artbook, a different poster and the package is much smaller so less space used but less nice to present... but those things are all fine.
Instead of a USB Stick with the music we got a Steelbook Case, do not get me wrong as it looks really good but i like the music and would have preferred that.

Maybe playing Mega Man and Bass has left me numb but it actually wasn't that hard but it had good share of BS with some of the medals especially the one where you have to kill a member of Star Wolf in inside a trench when I FINALLY got them to go in there so I can shoot them they crashed in spot that made the medal spawn INSIDE the planet making it unobtainable. And it wasn't no fluke glitch either... it happened several times. Oh, and some explosions hurt you and some dont so that's some top notch consistency.

I like Shadow and Heroes fine enough. But the biggest problem with both of these games is their repetition. Playing through the same stages multiple times with very little changes just comes off lazy.
Agreed, wish they would have had level select that then could just let you pick new paths right there. I kinda hope this game gets a remaster/remake. Improve the plot, graphics, and character development and I think the game would be really good. I liked the edgy take and wish it could have stayed, it's better than what we've gotten recently: sonic boom and sonic forces.

I only said I liked the theme and concept of Shadow the Hedgehog, the story has a lot of flaws but forces is way worse level design wise and story wise. Forces didn't expand the sonic universe at all. "Infinite is a new character," a new character that was poorly written in game. You shouldn't have to research comics to learn about them in the game they are introduced in... even in the comics, Infinite is so bland and just a Kylo Ren from star wars... Levels in forces weren't challenging or inspiring... they even had a hard mode that feels like easy...

@@mep6302 The last sonic Boom was 3 years and about 8 months ago but we've only got 3 games between now and then... Forces, Mania, and Team Sonic Racing(if you wanna count it... it's not story based from what I know, so... only 2 story games). It isn't that old yet.

I agree! Making the game be a "travel down one of these path to the goal" thing, instead of a "find all the things" thing would really improve it
Alternatively, the enemies of your partners side wont attack you while you run with them. But you cant switch partners in the pause menu

While Sonic 2006 has Shadow kicking Silver in the head, Shadow had that one amusing cutscene:

I own Shadow the Hedgehog on the Game Cube. First of all, it is seriously one of my favorite Sonic games. Second of all, that gunshot sound effect is used in the first screen and the main menu.

But, at least I beat Sonic 06 with all 3 characters, and the final story. Which sucked. So, can Solid Snake still shoot those memories out of my head or not?

As much as I loved this game to death as a kid, Shadow the Hedgehog was nowhere near great as a game, but I certainly think its is far from terrible

This game is so over hated. I mean it's not good but not completely terrible either. There is fun to be had and it had some interesting ideas going. Just felt rushed and needed more polish in some areas.

Shadow the Hedgehog was my favorite gamecube game by far growing up. It was so fun to play despite how different it was. May not be the best sonic game ever made objectively but it was an interesting fun game to playthrough as a kid and kept me entertained for hours on end. I'll always love this game despite the hate on it.
I ended up playing it at a surprising young age, at like either 5 or 6, just because I thought "It's like Sonic, Sonic equals For Kids"

It just occurred to me that Shadow was sent to Earth in an escape pod by Maria in Sonic Adventure 2 so Maria can't have been killed in front of him. Guess the same can be said for the moon.
Maybe that's the original shadow or something. I recall timelines where it's revealed that he may be a robot.

That game was just as fun as the first game with quite a bit of new content and all new stages and a whole new world to explore

The only problem this game suffers from is the lack of fishing levels. Big the Cat is your god whether you choose to accept it or not, and the only thing that can save Sega is Big's Big Fishing Adventure 3.

I'm trying to finish this game on emulator right now. overall this game is just heavily panned because of bias, because as far as i can tell it's an OK game. it has lots of flaws, but not enough to outweight the good parts.

Shadow wasn't edgy in SA2 or Heroes. He was mysterious and a badass foil to Sonic.

@Shadow The Hedgehog I respectfully disagree with you that the rest of the songs are forgotten because of the main theme, "Never Turn Back" but, I do agree with you on the other songs you mentioned. But, why did they reuse Shadow's theme in Sonic 06? It's a a great song though. Sonic 06 still sucks. Except for the soundtrack in both games. I played through Sonic 06 more times than anyone with a working brain should, and bought at least 2 or 3 copies, and beat the entire game with everyone, and did it twice in my lifetime. I also played the game on release day. Worst decision ever. I also played Shadow the Hedgehog on release day too. 2nd worst decision ever. Great soundtrack though.

@Shadow The Hedgehog I only bought 3 copies of Sonic 06 because I thought, on release day, that MY copy of Sonic 06 was fucking BROKEN, when I fought Silver, and when I'd play it, sometimes, the game wouldn't load, but just took too long to load, because how can you tell a glitch in Sonic 06 from a regular part of the game? Especially if you're playing it on the fucking RELEASE day, so there wouldn't be guides up for awhile and don't just go and pretend like you know things about me, and call me "edgy", dude. I didn't "forget" about the soundtrack from the game Shadow The Hedgehog, and I especially didn't go, "wow, so edgy". Just because you or someone you know did, doesn't mean everyone that played it did. As awful as both Shadow The Hedgehog and Sonic 06 are, I loved the soundtrack from both games. Not because Shadow's theme song was edgy, and not because I thought they were edgy, but because I genuinely liked the songs. Same with Sonic 06 and "His World", the lyrical version of the song. I had multiple copies of that game because my version wasn't working for some reason(shocking, I know), so my dad, had to return the game to the store to get another copy that WOULD work. Turns out, Sonic 06 was a glitchy piece of shit, and a fucking disaster, again, shocking, wasn't it? And I wasn't asking you anything, it was a hypothetical question. I didn't forget how either game's soundtrack was. I remembered them because of how shitty both games were, and how the soundtracks were the best parts of both games, so of course they're going to stand out. Just because YOU thought the songs were edgy, doesn't mean we all thought that. It's not like I actually liked either Shadow The Hedgehog or Sonic 06, outside of the music. I didn't know 06 was as broken as it was until years later, playing through it myself, and I refused to let the GAME beat me. I tried and failed with Shadow The Hedgehog though. I had multiple copies because i thought the copy I had was broken. Not because I like the Sonic series that much. Just making sure you don't misunderstand me.
@Shadow The Hedgehog Thanks, even if you don't REALLY mean that, and are just being sarcastic. I wanted to finish Shadow the Hedgehog because of the songs "Never Turn Back" and "All Hail Shadow" and I didn't want the game to beat me. But that one did because you have to play it TEN times, and get every non-canon ending just to get to the last story. I could only get the ending where Shadow karate chops Eggman to death. And it took me years to beat Sonic 06 all the way through too. Especially the mach speed sections in Sonic's story. Even with the guidebook I had, it didn't mention HOW much bullshit was in store for you, especially in Kingdom Valley's or Radical Train's or Crisis City's mach speed sections, which were the 3 worst Sonic stages, to me. Which is why I beat Silver and Shadow's stories first. And mainly because of the bullshit Silver fight near the beginning of the game, if you played it you'll remember what I mean, when I say, "It's No Use!" or, "Take This!" I hated pretty much every moment of Sonic 06. I've played both the ps3 and 360 versions. Yes, I DID hate myself that much! But it was worth it, when I finally beat the last story of that game and got the final scene of the game with Sonic looking up at the sky, with the feather flying by, and that amazing piano piece that plays while he's running by, or the final song that plays during the credits. THAT'S how dedicated I was to finally putting the past behind me; especially when that past consisted of painful memories and moments of Sonic 06, and almost NO good memories or treasures of that game, other than the music. That's how much it meant to me. As a longtime Sonic The Hedgehog fan. Thanks anyways, dude. And don't forget, to never turn back again...

Yeah I admit this game is train wreck. I still like it though ^^; but there is 1 good thing about this game.

I sort of enjoyed Shadow The Hedgehog. Sure it's Edgy and Cheesy but I still get a kick out of it.
Fun fact: In Shadow the Hedgehog you shift mission by pausing, selecting a mission and then leaving the pause menu. This is fine... however, you cannot leave the pause menu unless you select a mission. So if you pause the game early enough on certain levels you can softlock the game because you start without a mission.

I love this came, actually. Sure, it's repeating, and you've gotta play through stages TWICE in the very least, with the exception of Westopolis (the Green Hill Zone of this game, basically...), but each boss fight at the end is easy while still being FUN. The Cyberspace levels are cool as well, with the Firewall mechanic.

I thought the whole ‘choose the path you take’ part of the game was a pretty neat concept, from a role playing and story perspective. Kinda like you’re building a character’s morals and motives from the ground up throughout the game.

I know this is old. but its called a pre rendered cutscene. like 3d movies ie toy story. They're rendered for hours ahead of time and just recorded as a video. Or for movies like toy story for months.

I enjoyed that game. 😊 Anytime controls are hard/bad I just remember how I adapted and enjoyed the gameplay.
