Put mine on yesterday! Make sure you install the oil feed line off the passenger side front banjo bolt, and remove all screens from the other banjo bolts as well. @@Smeedia Ok, I have to ask.. I can get the lower front exhaust manifold off, have all the shields off, but how the heck do you get the front O2 sensor off of the front manifold with the recessed groove? I haven't attempted with any wrench yet, and sprayed with PB Blast, but dang.. I even took the bracket off Cyl3 to unthread it from the shield, but no matter what the sensor MUST come out to drop the manifold. Any advice on removing that dang thing?
@@Smeedia Yep! Already got the sensor unplugged, I just feel really dumb that an O2 sensor remover tool is a thing I just learned I needed. Another trip to the auto parts store, but that SHOULD be the last thing I need then. I want to see my turbo out today! SO CLOSE.

Thanks so much as always for all the great work on the vids!
Dude have you made a video about different turbos for sti and what to use for which application? I haven’t found it if so. I still have a stock block in my 2018 sti, so I don’t want to blow it sky high, or i’d like to at least avoid that as long as possible before needing a built block lol. So my question is, how much power can the 2018 sti take reliably on stock internals and what is the perfect turbo to run below that limit. Aka what turbo can I run that isn’t gonna turn me into *that* guy? It’s just that there are so many different numbers and sizes etc. my goals are to avoid blowing the car up while ideally having a turbo that spools up around 2750-3000rpm and pulls to at least 6k or so with a grimspeed tmic. I do have mechanical sympathy and hate redlining it with stock internals lol. What’s the turbo for me sir? And I would like to go ewg. For example if you tell me that the stock 18 sti ej can handle say 500whp on stock internals id like to have mine sit at like 425whp. I’d like a lil cushion there. I plan on doing injectors and fuel pump and beefing up cooling package as well. Sorry for the wordy question my dude, and yeah ik modding is dangerous and we all accept risks. I will blow it up someday and get a built long block, but until then just looking for the perfect turbo to hover just below doomsday lol. What would you recommend for turbo/injectors/fuel pump to run on 93 pump gas and not mangle her?
So what turbo would you recommend I'm looking at the grimmspeed bb turbo right now motor is stock still top mount and I just want some more boost power and am kinda stuck on turbo choice
Also I want to be able to have a turbo that will be able to handle the engine mods down the line but still be able to have fun looking at getting to 550 hp or 650
Headers are cheap but I was under the impression that you have to coat them because wrapping them makes them crack and if you dont wrap them they'll melt everything. Help.
Hey, I’m running an upgraded TMIC (Grimspeed) and other low heat supporting mods (header, radiator, oil, etc...) but I want more. I know I’ll upgrade fueling but can you recommend the best Turbo upgrade with a TMIC?
Baste off your experience, is it possible to remove the turbo without removing the header or upipe? im just swapping out my turbo so i was wondering if i could get away with just removing the downpipe and just pulling it up and off the uppipe.
At 7:49 you said, "...and one coolant line to your air oil separator (AOS)", is this correct? I didn't know any coolant lines ran to the AOS. I thought it was called an AOS because it it separated air and oil, not air and coolant...hehe.
Hey I asked you this question before but I wasn’t sure if you knew what I mean so if I put let’s say a downpipe catback and a cold air intake in my 2020 sti would it be fine to not upgrade the fuel system and just pro tune it
No you will have to swap out your fuel injectors and fuel pump at minimum, the 2015+ STIs OEM Fuel system can't support and intake+Downpipe. You'll lean out and start throwing CELs, if you look at my last dyno video from Aug 2019 you can see it happen

You can undo the electrical connector in the bay to remove it then use a O2 socket to remove it. Makes like 1000X easier 😁
@@Smeedia Yep! Already got the sensor unplugged, I just feel really dumb that an O2 sensor remover tool is a thing I just learned I needed. Another trip to the auto parts store, but that SHOULD be the last thing I need then. I want to see my turbo out today! SO CLOSE.
@@Smeedia Got it removed! Though learning experience, ended up bending the O-rings on the back of the sensor until I realized I did it backwards. Gah. Once lined up with the ratchet properly and using a bit of PB, it actually popped right out!
Learning experience, but may as well replace everything while it's down and out now anyway so it's good and fresh for all the additional mods!
Cobb 20G or an FP Blue would be ideal, keep it around 400WHP. Use a tial 38mm wastegate with either option and you'll be solid 🔥
I look forward to your new short block install soon 😂
Same 😅😅😅😅
So what turbo would you recommend I'm looking at the grimmspeed bb turbo right now motor is stock still top mount and I just want some more boost power and am kinda stuck on turbo choice
Also I want to be able to have a turbo that will be able to handle the engine mods down the line but still be able to have fun looking at getting to 550 hp or 650
Tbh go rotated, I wouldent suggest a stock location turbo for that much power. You could push an FP Black upwards of 550
get the tomei equal length headers, they're half the price of the killer b holy headers
I was looking at them but they only came in a 3 bolt 🙃
Headers are cheap but I was under the impression that you have to coat them because wrapping them makes them crack and if you dont wrap them they'll melt everything. Help.
Coating is the best option, wrapping can be hit or miss im doing neither 😅
Does the downpipe have to come off to do this?
Hey, I’m running an upgraded TMIC (Grimspeed) and other low heat supporting mods (header, radiator, oil, etc...) but I want more. I know I’ll upgrade fueling but can you recommend the best Turbo upgrade with a TMIC?
Whats your WHP goal? 🙏
Did you ever find a header like you mentioned in the video?
The killer B 🔥
Baste off your experience, is it possible to remove the turbo without removing the header or upipe? im just swapping out my turbo so i was wondering if i could get away with just removing the downpipe and just pulling it up and off the uppipe.
Yes you can get Way with just removing the downpipe to get the turbo out 😁
At 7:49 you said, "...and one coolant line to your air oil separator (AOS)", is this correct? I didn't know any coolant lines ran to the AOS. I thought it was called an AOS because it it separated air and oil, not air and coolant...hehe.
Lol the coolant that runs through the APS just keeps the camber the same temp as the engine to reduce the chance of condensation building up 😁
Depends on which brand AOS. Killer Bee doesn't use coolant but IAG/Cobb do.
@@Smeedia Haha...say what? Camber the same temp? Oh you mean to keep the canister the same temp?
@@soopermarkus Ahhhh ok.
Meant chamber 😅
Hey I asked you this question before but I wasn’t sure if you knew what I mean so if I put let’s say a downpipe catback and a cold air intake in my 2020 sti would it be fine to not upgrade the fuel system and just pro tune it
No you will have to swap out your fuel injectors and fuel pump at minimum, the 2015+ STIs OEM Fuel system can't support and intake+Downpipe. You'll lean out and start throwing CELs, if you look at my last dyno video from Aug 2019 you can see it happen
Smeedia thanks this helped a lot I couldn’t find sources anywhere to answer that
question what was the blue tape used for?
Nice!
Btw: making 360 whp and 347tq from the dyno 😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 🔥🔥
Yessssss! No more issues?!
@@Smeedia all good. Getting an alignment and corner balancing, taking it home Tuesday.
I wish mine was up and running, low key jealous 😅
@@Smeedia been down over 2 and a half months. I'm getting real sick of my old 4 speed pickup truck.
It was such a tease taking it from the shop to the tuner. (Especially on a limp map.)
I can't wait to bring it home. A good hour on i95, when its completely empty - 0 traffic. Ouuuuuuu!!
Am not ready to do all of this, but big Question is warranty of car.what I been told you do not have any warranty any more. And how much this $$$$ you and where did you get them at,live in Fort Myers,Fla
Personally I alqays throw warranty out the window, I can't keep my hands off of modifying these cars
Question I can't find a solid answer. What the stock turbo on the sti is it a vf48?
What year sti?
#riskitforthebiscuit squad
😁😈😁
So is our sti 15+ oil or coolant
Slap that sti turbo on the brz!
only if it was that easy🥺
I wish 😔 Turbo BRZ Build will be after we finish the STI though 😁
How much Whp and tq you think youre going to get? im thinking around 400+ 🌽
I'm guessing around 400 or so 🔥😁
Plans for that stock turbo?
Already sold and on its way to Hawaii 😅
Do you recommend a built engine if I turbo upgrade?
Depends on how much power you want to make. Anything above 400 i suggest it
@@Smeedia ok cool I figured. I just see all these ppl strapping on a new turbo and wishin for the best. Didn’t know if I was missing something.
An hour means 3 hours in Subaru time.
Cost of total build in the future?
Once we get the tune done I'll make that video 😅
Hey I'll buy your stock turbski!
Already sold, but appreciate the offer 😅
@@Smeedia dang big fella!
Does "bye bye stock turbo!" Also mean "Oh, hello hello, blown motor" in nearest future? :)
It could potentially 😅
@@Smeedia that's your goal, kinda. To have as much fun as possible with the stock block, right? :)
Are you planning on posting some track days videos?
Once the tracks open up thats the plan 😁 and curios to see what the stock block will hold, kinda like an experiment I guess 😅
How's the reliability
Was great 🙌
Is the stock turbo for sale ?
Already sold 😅
Mission failed boys we’ll get em next time:(
Turbo for sale?
Sold a long time ago 😢
Makes me want to this to my wife’s STI. That’s not going to happen.
Lol one day maybe? 😅
Once you got the turbo out you should have gone NA. lol
Full send NA 😅
Should of just removed the engine out. Literally would of made your life easier. Engine removal with a hoist is like a 2 hour job. Get a clutch job done also in the process. Looking good still either way
I don't have the space to pull it right now or the house but I would have much rather done that 😅
😎👍🏻👍🏻
😈😈😈
Can I have your old turbo?
Old turbo already sold 😅
Gonna sell that turbo? Haha. Also putting my bypass valve hose on today. Picked it up at fastwrx.com
Stock turbo has already sold 😅 and yessssss 🔥
I've seen some high horsepower builds that use this header. Good price too. afepower.com/afe-power-48-36802-twisted-steel-long-tube-header
Wish I saw this yesterday! Lol I ordered the Killer B headers 😅
This was potentially the least helpful car video I've ever watched, please work on your camera angles
Bruh this videos like 4 years old when I first started making videos
My Apologies, didn't realise this video was that old, I take back what I said
Selfie-stick recording is not a good idea. The selection of music is horrendous, sorry.
Then don't watch 💁♂️
i have a evo 7 VII my other channel is deadhero15 it has a mk4 supra aftermarket turbo
I’m having watching you build it which is exciting and learning A LOT at the same time!! Thank you Smeedia lol love how you’re doing things, keep it up!!
