Oh my this is exactly what has been happening to me! Mine is flipped from yours but it's also older. I bought my condo in 2004 and the unit was already old. It's been 20 years now and has just started doing this. Thanks so much for posting!!

Great job. Kill all power. Pull the plug that you tapped on... get some no lox from a Electritian and an acid brush. Paint the pins with no lox to coat pin. The corrosion from warm water and bleach is enough to pit the pins and not conduct electric... if every electrical connection was soldered and sealed. The corrosion would not cause this problem when unit ages. The newer stackable washer and dryers are junk because the micro processor is located above to wash tub and is not built for a humid corrosive environment. All these units should be recalled because of design flaw. Many wires are black on the inside of the insulation from acid corrosion. If used in Florida along the coast the salty air is twice as bad on units. 4 years life instead of 20 years life. Thanks for the tip. Need to scrap the micro processor and go back to 120 controls with GFIC receptical on washer. Coal all connection to keep corrosion away. Later

I have a 32 year old direct drive in the basement. It has been repaired one time. They run forever. I bought a 2017 speed queen top loader and matching dryer. They’re waiting on a basement remodel. The lady kenmore won’t even give me a reason to put her on the curb. I’m going to put both the washer and dryer in the speed queen boxes and set them in the garage. When I build a new house, I’ll find a spot for them. The dayum things aren’t even rusty. I gave such great pride
Had the same problem except it would work on delicate setting, it's a 2000 and this is only this second problem i've had with it had to replace the drain hose this year too. Other than those 2 things its been a great machine and dryer. Thank you for the help!!!! I Am also glad i opened it up as there was so much lint in there it, could have easily started a fire...........
You're my hero, and I'm an idiot for forgetting the old "tap it with a hammer" trick. Also, take a look on the timer, it'll have it's build date on the tag. Mine is 1999, on a washer that is '06 vintage.
Thanks for the tip. I put a zip tie on it and it works perfectly.. For some reason I couldn't see a thing. You need a light to make pic brighter.. I figured it out . But you inspired me to do sol... Thank You
Oh my God, that's exactly my problem with my Kenmore Stack Washer/Dryer, the midsize one. It did fill but the cycle stopped. Also it's 10 years old. The dryer works fine but the washer won't cycle. I'm going to try this in the morning and if it works, I'm going to cancel my repair service which will be not until the 23rd of this month. That would save me a lot of money. Thank you so very much.
Yay! ...And BTW, it wasn't the black "electrical plug", it was the points on the timer that it was being plugged into. Get your serial number and google Kenmore timer and you can order a replacement timer. Even if you have someone come out, you've still saved a bunch! Good luck Raymond!
You may never see this but...Check the cold water inlet filter. Mine was clogged and would shut it down mid spin cycle. Not enough water to balance the load.

To see the sheer joy they get as they roll in the ground, laughing, slapping their knees in desperation for the inhale was well worth all the ensuing boo-boos I’ve sustained over the years (except for maybe the time I was on a ladder holding up a full sheet of drywall and maneuvering to reach my impact gun and screws that I casually left on a second ladder, 3 feet away..Yup, Ouch..) Anyway, great video! I’d like to hear the story of how you came to find the short term fix. Did you get it properly fixed before you switched to a new unit?
Haha - Garaga yoga! My ex is pretty handy, and as I mentioned in description, after the video, we learned it was the timer. So yes, we ordered/replaced the timer. Thanks!
one: you shouldnt have that panel open while its plugged in, you could get injured. two: if its just a loose connection that keeps happening zip ties around the entire rheostat or whatever that part is and on the wire clip, might keep it in place and save you some hassles
Does it still cycle through? Mine is the same, it will agitate(wash) but the dial will not move past the wash part, it will not go to the rinse or spin part of the cycle?
Hi Emily. As I mentioned in the description, we learned after the video, that it was the timer. So we ordered a new one. So if you can expose the panel, and get the timer, maybe have a friend install it, unless you're handy yourself! (I'm too chicken - had a friend install the new timer) good luck!
