Thank You so much. The first 48 seconds of your video saved me $700. I was just about to by a new dryer and then I checked the little door switch you were referring to, and it was just jammed in a little. I flipped it in the right direction, shut the door and my clothes are drying right now. THANK YOU! This made a difference in our family budget this month. It means so much to us.
You just saved my 23 yr old Whirlpool dryer. My wife was already convinced that we need to replace the pair with a $2000 upgrade. Replaced the thermal fuse and cleaned the piles of lint out. Good as new. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this. Was able to diagnose the issue on my own and replace the broken switch for $25. Our dryer is 18 years old and we've been able to repair every single issue thanks to videos like yours.
Found the issue to be my thermal link/fuse!!!! Took like 6 minutes to diagnose and $5 on amazon… should be up and running tomorrow!!!!! Thank you!!!!! Saved a ton of dollars!!!!!
By watching this video, I was able to fix my dryer for less than $2. I am a single mother and every dime counts. I was ready to buy a new dryer, but I am so glad that I took the time to watch the video. The repair was easy to do. My problem was the thermal fuse. Thank you so much!!!
I want to send a HUGE thanks for taking the time to make this video. We were about to spend a lot of money on a service all or another dryer. Luckily I found your video. We followed your easy steps and determined it was the thermal fuse. $7 and a two-day wait for amazon and we are up and running again (we bought a three-pack just in case). I cannot thank you enough!
I WENT WITHOUT MY DRYER FOR 4 MONTHS AND MY PLAN WAS TO BUY A NEW ONE TODAY BUT BEFORE I TRIED BUYING ANOTHER ONE, I STUMBLED ACROSS YOUR VIDEO AND IT HAPPEN TO JUST BE MY DOOR ON THE DRYER & YES IT'S WORKING NOW... .🤗🤗🤗 NOT ONLY THAT U JUST SAVED ME, SOME MONEY THANK U SO MUCH....
Thank you so much!!! I can now add an , "I replace the thermal fuse on my dryer," to my list of badassery! Thank you for doing these videos and making them so easy to follow.
Adam I was online at home Depot about to buy a new dryer your video just saved me 700$. The door switch!!!! Thank you for being so helpful for free!!!!!!
All of a sudden dryer stopped working. My wife thought of buying a new one until we saw your video. Checked the continuity and realized there is none on the thermal fuse. We ordered one. That fixed the problem with only a few dollars. Thanks a lot and we really appreciate it.
Dryer wouldn't turn on. Watched your video. Narrowed it down to the thermal fuse. If you're reading this comment and need a fuse don't waste your time going to Lowe's like I did. They don't sell replacement parts. Order from Amazon. $6 for 3 fuses. Fuse fixed my problem. Dryer runs great now. Thanks for your help!!
Thank you!!! It was the thermal fuse. Mine is a Roper (by Whirlpool) that I bought brand new 22 years ago. This is the 3rd repair that I've made on it, and all were EXTREMELY cheap parts to buy.
You're the best!!. Mine stop spinning. It's been down since October or maybe before. I didn't have $150 to pay the repair man so I ordered the thermal fuse $8 for 2 off Amazon. It's working fine. Single mom on a budget! ❤💪💪
That’s great news I just came across this video post I’m no handy man 👨 by no means so I grab a tester and gave it a try and by all means it’s was definitely the fuse 🤣 old dinosaur dryer!!!!
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this video. I followed your instructions and was able to repair my dryer (thermal sensor) for a mere $10.78! Holy moly was I happy and proud!! Again, THANK YOU, Sir!
Thanks for this! Your simple, clear explanation saved me a repair bill. In my case, the door safety switch had worn out. Two thoughts: 1) Before opening the dryer lid, wrap tape around the stiff knife so the knife cannot scratch the dryer. 2) Because our children are grown and almost gone, I felt comfortable doing very simple wiring to bypass the safety switch altogether. The broken switch was screwed on so tightly that I couldn't unscrew the doggone thing anyway.
bypass the switch or the fuse? you should never use your dryer without fuse.... only for testing purpose if you can't test it otherwise.. you will burn your house...
Thank you Adam. My dryer stopped working and since it is 12 years old we figured we'd just get a new one instead of paying to get it fixed. We couldn't get a new one delivered for a week so I thought about searching TH-cam for a solution and came across your video. Your video is great - you go slowly and show every step. My husband did the work but I probably could have done it myself as you made it look so easy. It was the thermal fuse so we fixed it for $19. Afterwards a friend recommended that we should have changed the belts while we have it apart so I wanted to pass that on. Thank you much!!!
A quick test for the power/start button: on some units if you press and hold that button with the unit plugged in, you can hear the faint motor noise of the timer, since presumably your drum is no longer running at this point. Not all units will have a electro-mechanical timer mechanism, but it's a very fast test; if you hear something, your start button is not likely at fault.
Yes, that is exactly what I hear, a very faint motor noise when I’m pushing the start button which usually turns on the dryer. I don’t think you said how or what to replace. Did anyone else hear if he said how to fix or R&R that part by chance?
I wanted to say THANK YOU thank you so so much . I can’t believe it. I bought the thermal fuse after testing it and paid $3.59. I thought I was going to be buying a new dryer. Thank you for your video. I appreciate it so very much
This saved us $500. I’m so glad I did a quick google search and found your video. We just needed to replace the fuse. Your video was so easy to follow. Thank you!
Thank you!!! I'm a new widow and your video was spot on and helped me fix my dryer myself 🙂 I had to buy a new multimeter as my husband's wouldn't work ($20 at Walmart) and a set of 3 thermal fuses (which was the problem) for $6.02 on Amazon). Last week I spent time cleaning the lint out of the dryer duct inside the wall and used the rotary lint eater brush set and the brush came off up inside the wall but after the majority of the day and enlisting a friend to help, we finally got that out using one of the rods from the brush set tired to the hook end of a wire clothes hanger. Then the next day I got caught up on laundry (4 loads) and when I went to put the last load in the dryer out wouldn't turn on. I was frustrated to say the least. Then I found your video. Thank you thank you!!! Now I'm saying a prayer that my dryer is good to go for a long time after this 🙂
Thank you. You saved me some money. My Maytag dryer stopped working. Watched your video. My door switch had an audible click when depressed. Did a continuity check on the start switch and it was good. Did a continuity check on my thermal switch and it had an open. Put on a new thermal switch and the dryer started working as normal. Thanks again.
If you change a blown thermal fuse, you should also change the temperature sensor just below it. It could be the cause of the blown thermal fuse. Also, thanks for the nice tip about the Appliance Epoxy paint.
@@CountryBlessingz My guess is you have a blockage or obstruction in the exhaust hose and/or a clogged vent. Or are pushing air through too long a length of hose. Thermal fuse is what was wrong with mine. You are a life saver. You just saved me HUNDREDS with this video. I went through all the steps too. Thank you.
The plastic swtich thingy was a little melted from heat. All it took was two minutes, a lighter and a slightly toasted finger to fix it and it's back working. Saved me about 90$ for the visit and I don't know how much more to actually fix it, along with a bunch of time that I have to take from work to be home Thank you
The estimate to fix my dryer was 200 dollars. I ordered the on/ff lever and replaced it in 15 minutes. You saved me 170 dollars. The only thing I did different was to just raise the lid without removing it since I only needed access to the lever. Thanks!!
Good video. It's nice, your ometer has a beeping sound, but for those who don't have that, an open line/OL is the fuse blown .. If you're on ohms and you touch your leads together, you will see different continuity numbers going through them..
Excellent presentation! And I just now went back to the dryer--a screw was laying on the opened dryer door, earlier this morning. I wondered where it came from since I had not washed anything with pockets. So I went and retrieved it and messed around getting the screws aligned so it would screw tight. And WAHLA! It's working again. My dryer is VERY old--like the one you are demo-ing on. So VERY HELPFUL!!
Thank you for troubleshooting tips. I just fixed my maytag dryer. It was the thermal fuse. I replaced it and now it is working like a champ. I spent 15 dollars!!!!
In my case, the dryer mad an odd sound when I pushed the start button, then nothing. The inside light works, so the breaker is ok. I found the door switch, pushed it a few times, tried the srtat button again. The dryer started!!! Bless the Lord! And thank you! Subbed, liked, and shared.
Omg I’m so glad I found your video. I almost called a repair man, but tried your method of the thermal fuse and it worked!! Had to order online but got it the next day through Amazon. Also, I am glad I took the back off because lint was EVERYWHERE, surprised it didn’t catch fire lbvs. Now my dryer is like new. Thank you for this video. Saved me so much money and didn’t take long at all
Thank you!!! I broke out the multimeter and it was the thermal fuse. Picked one up and we’re back in business. You saved me $80 service call plus the work. Feel like I should send you a cheque.
Fantastic! My dryer broke on Saturday, I ordered the thermal fuse which was bad, and received the part on Sunday. 24 hour self service for only $17.32 (10 for overnight shipping). Of course it took a while to finish cleaning up the area, but the thermal switch went in within 5 minutes of retrieval from the front door step. One thing that caused me a scare today is, that I didn't push the plug in all the way and so after a few runs it stopped working.... As I was troubleshooting, I fortunately thought of checking that plug.
Thank you sir, 5 year after and you still saved my dryer. It was just the start button that was malfunctioning, so i just soldered another one and it worked just fine!
Took the fuse off, took it to parts store and they tested it and said it was bad. I got a new one, installed it and it worked. My wife thinks I am a genius. Many thanks!
Big huge Thank you for making this video! Your video showed me step by step what to check. Boom fixed my dryer with a thermal fuse. You Saved this single woman a ton of money. Thank you again!
Thank you so much!!! I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and trying to do laundry so I can pack and the very first thing you showed got me fixed!! I’ll still have to replace the switch when I get back but I at least got it going for now!
My on/off, signal switch also wasn't making a clicking noise, like a door might not. I took it out and after trying to figure out how to use my mulitmeter with it I noticed it was clicking now. Put it back in and it worked. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your video. Our problem was the thermal fuse. Thought we would have to buy a new dryer. So grateful that you share your knowledge.
Thanks to saving my money, I already buy the orther dryer, but after following your introduction, my dryer worked. I was cancelled the new one. Thanks again
Thank you!! You helped me save a lot of money! It was just that clicky thing that indicates if the door is open or closed. For some reason (probably because it’s old) the door wasn’t catching it in the right position to click it every time. So simple to fix! Thank you!! -Single mom of two little ones
I could not thank you enough for putting this video up and teaching me how to do this you saved me hundreds of dollars that I cannot afford to spend your a lifesaver
Thank you for the presentation. this video helped me determine why my dryer is not turning on. Although I was a little hesitant about fixing it myself after seeing all the wires when looking into the control panel I challenged myself and found that the timer was blown. I ordered the part and when it arrived I replaced the wire the same way it was mounted and holy crap the dryer works again. It saved me $150-$300.
Thank you very much. This is a long overdue for helping me 2 years ago (04/02/22) when I came across your video. I bought 3 Thermal fuse and a start switch and have used all of them and the last fuse just today (08/01/24). Thank you so much again.
THANK YOU! I had a mini meltdown until the first thing to check in your video was exactly the problem with my dryer. One day (and a new switch) later, I'm back in business. THANK YOU!
Wow . I always fix all my appliances myself . This was a new problem that I have never encountered . Took me 5 minutes to to test the door switch , start switch and finally the thermal fuse which was blown ! . Thanks to you and my trusty meter for saving the day !
Omg thank you for this video, got exact the same dryer and the door switch gave up. Ended up removing the switch and just joined the wires and dryer is back to working. Thank you!
Thanks for the tip on checking the door safety switch. I thought it was either the on button or thermal fuse. Turns out both were fine. Half the plastic part broke off and wasn't making contact with the door. By pushing in what was left, the dryer started right up. A $7 part will keep my 20+ year dryer running smooth. I also like the tip on refinishing the top. Mine is showing its age!
I find your presentation/teaching style to be great! So great that I felt confident tackling the issue after watching your video just once, and I am a first-timer. Thanks for making it. BTW, in my case, the culprit was the fuse.
So thankful for this instructional video! I followed this step by step, was able to identify the root cause of being the thermal fuse and replaced myself. I ordered part through Amazon and saved $15 rather than buying from local company. I also bought and learned how to use my first multimeter. THANK YOU!! 😊
OMG 😱 you won’t believe, I just finished watching this video & thought i should give it a last try & went to see dryer, with first step help, touched that door switch & clicked it twice & checked, the dryer started running !!!! Thank you 🙏🏾 Namaste all 🙏🏾
This video literally just saved me from buying a new dryer ,,,,,,,,, blown thermal fuse which took me 10 min to replace! And I'm not handy! Awesome job 👍
Don't think I'll have any luck here, but I figured I'd try anyway. So, my heating element went out on an old dryer we've got (Admiral Capacity Plus). I got this kit in the mail that came with the heating element, and an assortment of thermal fuses (2 L248-80F's and 2 smaller KSD301's). Decided to replace the thermal fuse next to the element for kicks (the L248-80F). Dryer turned on, heating element was working. All was well. About 5-10 minutes go by, and the dryer just shuts off. Right about the heating element on top of the dryer was REALLY hot. No matter what I try, can't get it to work again. Checked all the parts mentioned in the video with multimeter, but they're all good. Checked the breaker box and the outlet, and they're all good as well. So, I've got 2 questions... 1. Did I install the thermal fuse or heating element incorrectly? Shouldn't have bothered replacing fuse, but I figured better now than later on down the road. 2. Even when the heating element was bad (had a cut in one of the springs), the dryer would still run. I've heard there's a way to reset the dryer via control board, but I can't find anything like a switch or button whenever I looked. Is that an option?
Wow.. the first thing you pointed out was exactly my issue. Actually the button was jammed, I popped it out and closed the door and she’s good as new! Thanks bro!
Got it. Figured out how to use the multi meter. Rewatching your video and now it's clear. Thanks for your post. Definitely recommend to purchase a multi meter with the beep feature. Reading the screen whilst holding the leads is a juggle. LOL😊
Thank you for the great video, my brand new 6 week old LG dryer stopped working so I did a test on the plug and wires and that all tested good. I then saw this video of yours and it was the button in the door opening, I pushed on it a few times I tried the dryer and it went on! Thank you so much so I can now tell the warranty people what I found.
Thank you for this video. I have no experience in appliance repair and i was able to follow this and fix my moms dryer. Her thermal fuse was blown and after replacing it not only was yhe problem fixed but her door which would non stop buzz when closed also stopped.
Thank you for an easy to follow video that shows every step. The thermal fuse is blown on my Roper dryer, and I ordered the replacement part from Amazon. Hopefully the repair will go well. Thanks again!
Great video, just so you know, no need to remove the control panel. Those 2 metal brackets in the back are there to support the top of the dryer when you lift it.
Thanks so much - my very old dryer stopped working and your video helped me fix it! I ordered a door switch on Amazon for $9 and installed it. One tip - when I was taking off the old switch, I didn't realize the casing was separate from the switch and I dropped it into the bottom of the dryer. I had to buy a magnet on a stick tool to get it out. :-)
Great advice my problem was the starter switch wasn’t seated right and the button wasn’t depressing the switch. Wife was after me for a new dryer saved me hundreds of dollars. Subbed and liked…
Thank you. I was able to replace the Thermal Fuse and get the dryer working again. I didn't have any testing tools, so I went ahead and replaced this part. $20 instead of a costly service call or biting the bullet on a whole new machine!

Also, I am glad I took the back off because lint was EVERYWHERE, surprised it didn’t catch fire lbvs. Now my dryer is like new. Thank you for this video. Saved me so much money and didn’t take long at all
It worked! Thank you. I fixed my Moms this morning. $2 part. Praise the Lord! Thanks for the his video. Saved me $$$$
Thank you!!!
Thanks Adam. Did the test you showed me and replaced the thermal fuse. Wife is happy I found your video.
Amazing... first one did it. I have fixed the stove and now the dryer... love TH-cam and all the network of people that share their knowledge. Thanks.
THANK YOU!
Thanks for the information. Fixed the dryer switch myself and avoided a service call. Saved $150.00.
Wait, but how did you fix the switch?
Wow . I always fix all my appliances myself . This was a new problem that I have never encountered . Took me 5 minutes to to test the door switch , start switch and finally the thermal fuse which was blown ! . Thanks to you and my trusty meter for saving the day !
Thank you for sharing. You saved me about $100-$200 in service charges or even $550 had I bought a new dryer.
The little piece of information about the switch clicking was vital information. Other videos just mentioned lack of spring. Thanks!
So thankful for this instructional video! I followed this step by step, was able to identify the root cause of being the thermal fuse and replaced myself. I ordered part through Amazon and saved $15 rather than buying from local company. I also bought and learned how to use my first multimeter. THANK YOU!! 😊
You guys are the best. I was able to get my dryer up and running. Praise the Lord indeed.
This video save me more than one hundred dollars today. I cant thank you enough.
Thank you! This helped us fix our dryer, it was just the door switch! Thanks for helping us learn about our appliance, and saving us some money!
HELLO KRISTEN, Where did you find/purchase the door switch???
Thanks so much for posting this video. My dryer is used and going on 8 plus years old. Just a few new replacement & the unit is good to go!!! ✌🏿🙏🏿
Wow.. the first thing you pointed out was exactly my issue. Actually the button was jammed, I popped it out and closed the door and she’s good as new! Thanks bro!
Thanks so much for this video!! Saved me hundreds!!! Wow, easy as a replacement fuse 🤯🤯🥳🥳🥳
Years later this video is still helpful. Thought my Roper dryer was down, 6$ Amazon Thermal fuse fixed it!
Thank you so much. I'm going to home depot tomorrow to get a thermal fuse. Great video.
Was getting ready to post the same comment.
Thank you! It was my thermal fuse and it was a $10 fix. Your video really simplified the process.
Thermal Fuse blown. Replaced with Amazon part. Solved my issue in 10 minutes. Thanks so much.
Thanks Adam, my problem was my switch, but the button was just not able to pushed far enough, I pulled it out a bit and then it worked!!
Thank you. I was able to replace the Thermal Fuse and get the dryer working again. I didn't have any testing tools, so I went ahead and replaced this part. $20 instead of a costly service call or biting the bullet on a whole new machine!
Thanks so much for this incredible video! My wife and I just replaced the thermal fuse! Now our dryer works perfectly again!
Perfect! Gave the ol trum a turn and she’s going again! Thank you!
Thank you for this video. It was the thermal fuse for me. 30 bucks for the multimeter, 6 for the fuse. Beats calling a repair man.
Thank you so much, I just fixed my dryer for less than ten dollars thanks to you. You are a great teacher and I’m grateful for this video
I enjoy your video mister Adam.
Maybe your not "a specialist" but like me, i am a all around w-e mechanic.
Every youtube video are there to help those wo are willing to put their hands in dirt. At the end of the day=That killed a lot of "supposed to be specialist guy".
Have a nice day folks!!
You cost me $16 for a thermal fuse. God only knows how much you saved me!!! Thanks
Thank you very much The part cost me $17 and it saved me almost $250 in labor parts and a repair guy
Great and helpful video. Would not have known to check that fuse, or eaven know about it. That was bad on my dryer. Got it all fixed. Thanks
I replaced a broken door switch and a blown fuse and now my dryer works again. Bless you.
