normally when I tell myself "I've got this, I can win" it's two or three times in the car before actually going into the venue. I also go into matches with big name players first or second round with the mentality of "If i can get a hit, I can take a stock. if I can take a stock, I can take a game. If I can take a game, I can take the set. if I can take the set, i can make top 8. if I can make top 8, I can win the tournament." I start small, and just work my way up from there.

This video is fantastic! I don't play competitively in Smash, but this video is still applicable in other things. It kind of reminds me of a piece of advice my favorite teacher gave us: Whenever you practice, always pretend like it's the real thing and go at it with 100% of what you have. Chances are, when a tournament or a presentation or whatever happens, you might get nervous, and you'll probably only perform at about 80% of what you can do. The more you practice though, the more likely you'll actually compete at the same level of effort you practice in!

Honestly, another tip is to not compare yourself to the best players. You can say” what are they doing and I’m not” but don’t say” they are better than me, I’m not going to compare” tell yourself that you can be as good as him/her This helps you give you motivation to do better. I struggle with this myself but hopefully I’ll be able to get over this

You're so right! I didn't even know about competitive smash when I played smash 4. And I used to never understand Yugioh at all! (Random example but its viable). Now I have so much more gaming confidence since I understand everything about Yugioh and played duel links competitively, and on the switch I play really good too. I also have both my mains Pit and Dark Pit in elite. I have a lot of gaming confidence because of this! It works!

Wish I had this March 16 for the Del Rio smash tornament. But they plan to do it again next year probably on the same month

Hey BananaBoy I just wanna say I'm really enjoying what I've seen of your content so far and even if it's unlikely you'll ever read this I wanted to make a comment addressed to you specifically just to clear up some misconceptions you put into this video
Just know that none of the misconceptions are your fault at all and that it would be ridiculous of me to assume you'd have the prior knowledge or experience I do with everything and that I respect you as a person for making high quality videos with a lot of information packed into them!
That being said please hear me out as to why affirmations do work, but not in the way you may think. Affirmations like the ones you showed in your video will *never* work. That is just fact. And repetition 100 or even 1000 times will do nothing either.
In fact I don't think affirmations would improve someone's gameplay or performance at all
Rather I believe affirmations can and do improve a person's mindset in small ways that eventually lead to the person being able to perform better.
Let me explain. An affirmation can only work if done correctly and to do one correctly it needs this
It has to be very short
    Very simple
    Specific
And most importantly of all realistic to the person's scenario
A homeless man who repeats to themselves "I will be a millionaire" would be doing jack shit
Affirmations are not magic. They don't work like spells
Rather that same homeless man could find his situation getting a little bit better by saying "tomorrow I'll feel a bit good"
In this case it's certainly not unrealistic for the homeless man to say that and in reality it could happen
Saying this doesn't make it true however. And believing it does would make affirmations seem much like the voodoo magic you compare it to in your video
Saying these small things of encouragement to yourself is only forcibly opening up your mind to the idea of it happening. Thus making it less likely to think negative thoughts such as "I'll never be able to do X" or "I can't see success"
Some people see these statements as fact and saying an affirmation can help reaffirm that these statements simply aren't true
Will saying "I'm going to get out of pools" actually guarantee your success in doing so? No of course not. But it will open up your mind just a tiny bit to get you to stop thinking "I'll never get out of pools"
To put it quite simply the examples you used in your video are using affirmations incorrectly
And I hope that by taking the time to explain them properly you or someone who happens to read this will understand that they can truly help just a tiny bit of done properly.
I know it's unlikely you'll ever read this. But BananaBoy if you did thank you very much for taking the time. And I hope you found this comment informative as much as I find your videos informative.

Interesting perspective! I could definitely see how using affirmations in that way would work a lot better.
