- If you're getting mad whenever you lose in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, then I want you to know that it's OK. Here's a guide on how to frame your mindset and adjust your expectations so you can go back to having fun (and possibly even win!)

As someone with ADHD, the progression from calm to anger is a lot quicker for me than most other people, so this seriously helps a lot
Same, I also have anxiety and moderate depression, so this is a really big help to me
Same here. ADHD can be nice in video games, but is mostly a curse
Yeah adhd can suck sometimes
I raised my hand. I have a very bad temper. Sometimes, when I lose, I usually just slam my fists down on a table. My mother hates it when I do that.
You just like me fr 😭
Really I just like compressing whatever's in my hand into a black hole
I get really mad sometimes when it comes to this game, sometimes I keep calm when losing and being outplayed, and other days I just get so mad my brain clouds up and I don’t know what to do against my opponent. I can relate to this ALOT. Thanks for this video, take a break, get some rest and come back when you feel like it
damn bruh, i fr just got educated on my whole mentality.
ty i needed this
1:34 man ive been mad at games but if i was at a tournament I would HAVE TO control myself, id be so embarrassed after if i acted like that
I’ve been trying not to get tilted when I lose, because I have a bad temper at times. Usually when I don’t get upset, I’m able to win again next time. I’ve been slowly climbing in gsp (I’m up to 7.2 mil) and my goal is to try an take a set at my school’s invitationals. We have a doubles tournament today so I’m excited to play and have fun!
Thank you for this video.
I just had an issue where I self injured my own thumb out of anger because I was getting frustrated playing (ruleset was 5 stock no timer final smash meter) as Sora vs a Pyra who spammed Blazing End and kept taunting. I still have the pain on my thumb as I write this, but even still, I worked on my mentality that night and was able to secure two wins against that ruleset (it might have been using faster characters like Jigglypuff or Bowser but hey).
Mindset is huge when it comes to playing Smash. It makes you go from playing successfully to a simple task feeling impossible. And I’m glad I was able to work on my mentality.
If the guy kept taunting you should have left. If they’re gonna be a stick in the as don’t let them have any fun just leave
This feels like a AA meeting but it does the job
Your videos always have a nice meaning. For example this video was about how to hold in your anger. Please keep posting. Love your videos❤
true but it is frustration and self disappo😅nt
Everything you just said, was what I was trying to explain to other players. Thank you so much for making this video.
I was thinking many times about making more realistic goals and how top players have a long history of playing the games, so my 600+ hours in ultimate are nothing compared to their thousands of hours per smash game they played, but hearing someone else say it really makes it better. Great video
I wanna learn at least 1 duck hunt combo. It’s taking a while but I think I’ll get there
Down b then grab
Side b then grab
Down throw into up air
Multiple up airs
Side throw into side air
Side throw into neutral special set up
Not really much combos but there
this vid helped out way more than i thought it would, tysm
thank you, this video helped me a lot. Im in the 1omill gsp range and im just stuck. I always get so angry when i lose and this video didnt stop me from getting angry, (because i still do get angry and nothing can change that) but it has stoped me from doing self harm and having to buy a new controller. One thing i have to say is that not judging people is more important then he makes it in the video.
For those who are judging others for losing their temper are literally the most inconsiderate ones. People are not robots, they have emotions too. Give them advice they need. Calm them down. Don’t insult and belittle them. It turns into resentment towards the world and others around em. Even if you don’t know that person personally, give them some comfort. Be the reason why they wanna be here.
As much as I agree with this statement, I think that the smash community will still think of everyone as being mentally stable as ltg, which is sad, but if people were to be more empathetic and aware because of this, then we should be fine.

"Get it out, son," as if this is just a normal occurrence.
I honestly stop playing of smash online due of the lag and this crashes my mind set that if I’m keep on assuming I’m terrible player of mistakes I did and never learn at all So,my real goal in smash is learn more deeper and see a better person of ourselves.
Thats a good message u got there.
Me personally, i know im pretty good but ill never be the best and thats pretty cool becouse every match will be worth fighting and im allways improving.
Plus not to brag but those around me know im a lil terror out there. I do decently in turnys, win alot and often show up in random smash compilations when i body sombodys haha.
All in a days work my villager!
I like where you are going with this.
Humans are a kind of animal, we may be capable of shocking behavior but we are also known to be noble, gentle and loving. Human culture is something else at work. Deep breaths between games, during games may help physically, but mentally there can be a sometimes greater need. Bullying, toxic behavior behind winning, Machoism, judgements and expectations especially on ourselves. There's more than I can name. Sometimes all you can do is be friendly, and expect the people you are with be friendly as well.
I guess it needs to be said also. Just like its messed up for the fast food companies to put it on the consumer to take responsibility for recycling plastics it is equally messed up to expect a human to be calm with a game like smash brothers at a competitive level. You have to willfully ignore all of the pop-off video's and anime screaming, content creator stuff, obvious capitalism, and how all of those things hook into a persons social awareness.
My advice has always been to be friendly and kind. This calm behavior is more suited for making connections and staying focused.
Brilliant video man
I play against CPU's because I can't pay for online and some of the things they do are sooooooo annoying, like if I play against doc they just spam down B, I play against villager they spam side B, if I play against Ness, well you now what they spam.
As a Gannon main, I have no mentality
U guys deserve a metal. Thank u for ur service
@@DJninjablade22 "you deserve a metal" bro wants him to get piped
Thanks for this video i needed it
I think it helps to recognize that no one actually cares about your smash rank except yourself, so it's not worth putting your self-worth into it. And also, recognize when it might be best to take a break. If the game is pissing you off atm, then just set the controller down and do something else for a few minutes.
If there's any feedback I have it's to not discourage people from having lofty goals like being the best in the world. You can have that lofty goal and do it in a healthy way. I'm on my state's PR and have won tournaments before, but I've had the goal to be the best in the world since I was an 0-2er. Discouraging people from trying to be the best isn't the way imo. Instead, recommend a healthy way to do it rather than starting with just outright saying to not make that your goal. Good video, just that one gripe with it.
I did world of light before ever quickplaying. That meant that i had about 9 million Gsp with every character when i started to play this game. To this day i am not having fun because i keep getting my ass kicked by people who actually earned 9 million Gsp
what was the music around 4:41? it’s really good! great video by the way!
The Color of Sunrise from Fire Emblem 3 Houses
@@redgerran thank you!
@@redgerran The problem is when ever I take a small break, opponents will usually attack you for it!!!
I want to become one of the better Trainer Mains in my general area. Maybe the best if it comes to that.
Ironically, Unironically, I started playing other characters after I got Link into Elite Smash, and guess what? My Ike is nearly in Elite and I’ve only played him for a week and had fun with him. Emphasis on the fun part. I was doing well when I had fun. I laughed when a stock was taken in a ridiculous way, I quit whenever a jerk tried to taunt me, and I played multiple versions of the same round. Expanding my area was fun and I wouldn’t have it any other way.😊
This is needed because when i lose my cool and when i do try to compose myself i get ridiculed for for losing
So as a coping mechanism i just listen to music that matches the character im playing (ex: if im playing mr game and watch then i listen to hey ya x flat zone) and I’ve been doing this since i started playing SSBU 4 years ago and is any character i play as in elite smash? No but im having fun playing it
Still not in Elite Smash as I don’t get Switch online often, but I can still beat my Elite Smash friends. We’ll see what happens this spring at my first major. When it gets laggy, I get angry and channel it instead of tilting. I change from having fun to hyper analytical.
Good vid👌
This took me over 2 months. Take your main, and play 3 battles against each character, max level cpu. Analyze the fights, and see what you struggled with, and what you did well. Practice countering what you struggled with.
That worked for me
Also when men show emotion it’s either made fun of or said that men have such anger issues. Men’s mental health is rarely talked about so I appreciate you making this video that it’s OK to be upset but you also have some responsibility and ways to be able to control it
Honestly? My goal is mainly to be better than my friends. Other than that, I don't normally play fighting games. The challenge is welcome and I'm having fun through it all.
I have anger and my parents don’t
Like it but thanks for the video to help with my mentally
I am having fun and taking things 1 step at a time, I still cannot beat adventure mode on hard, I've gotten to gleen and darkon, can't beat them sertely, and the part that's the middle I can't beat the repeat bosses becuse they don't give you enough defense to beat al of them they don't give you enough refills to keep going I have tried over over and over , the closet I have gotten is one boss left and way to much damage done to me to fight ratloues and yoshi vs ratlues can't beat him beucse of d amage delt to me from the previous battle I don't have ehough recovery damge not delt so I end up with yoshi verses rathalus and not ebnoguh health to win.
I recently started to play again, I'm pretty bad and probably will never improve, playing melee for 4 years when it was released i can tell there is a pretty big difference between melee and ultimate. I don't play fighting games but i made a exception for smash simply because it was fun. My old tricks don't work as well, ultimate feels very slow compared to melee.
I just wanted to re live my smash days with some friends. I've gotten pretty old so at this point there isn't a reason to rage quit or care anymore. I'll never play competitively and I'm fine with playing solo. I mainly bought a switch to play other games anyways.
pac-mains are built different
Im in class and instantly raised my hand and my teacher was concerned for me
cool video, do you want to do some 1v1s
Angry?
Depends on the opponent
Palutena: yes
ZSS: yes
Pyra/Mythra: mildly
Steve: extremely
Kazuya...: EWGF (ew get f***ed) yeah
Most of the rest of the roster: No
Honestly, I don’t care what my level is I just wanna have fun. Sure I can get competitive sometimes but I’m still just trying to have fun in the end.
Elite smash doesn't matter
Here's why
I lose my character on my screen 24/7 and it pisses me off 😢 even with super bright pink outfit
In my region, getting tilted is seen as dangerous or a ban offense
I dont get that cause were COMPETITIVE players. Nobody likes losing. Im not saying trash equipment or hulk out but, we're all human
Yeah, I would encourage you to avoid tournaments where you're not allowed to be upset. That just shows lack of empathy from the tournament organizers.
@@redgerran unfortunately thats about 90% of my tourneys lol
I put my hand up I have anger issues and this game pisses me of big time
Playing a video game and esports in general is minimal amounts of skill… shagging balls and grinding plays with your team will always be infinitely more skillful than learning neutral
I believe you should have a long term goal, like for example, “become the best toon link in the world”
However, you should do this by setting short term goals like “win a local”
honestly, both sports and smash players throwings fits like that are embarrassing bro buts its for worse sports fans or players because those are dudes going on 40
Lmaoooooo the average age in the MLB is 28 years old you don’t know what you are talking about. I can see where you are coming from but it’s way more embarrassing for a pro gamer to rage than a pro athlete.
Honestly, I just tend to feel bad for the gamers who spike their controller. Mostly cause I kinda get how pissed off they must feel, but at the same time if I were in their shoes I'd probably feel even more upset cause I'd have just broken an expensive ass controller for effectively no good reason.
Counter argument, Tweek a top five player says when he lost at his first local he promised to be the best and he’s doing really good
That wolf that rage quit from roller up smash on the first stock deserved to lose, let's be honest.
"quickplay will match me up with people of my skill level"
lmao lmfao lmfao lmao lol lmfao lol lmao
nah fam ive got bodies by 9mill gsp chads and im now in the mid 12 mills and sometimes 3 stock while also watching youtube
Oh, there's no doubt that GSP doesn't automatically dictate skill, but I've found that more often than not, it'll put you up against someone who isn't too tough or too weak, especially compared to arenas.
