Arguably the best speech in all of Doctor Who, so powerful
Peter Capaldi was born to do Doctor speeches, he’s such a good actor
Arguably the best speech in television history
"Imbecile's gas" ... they had mentioned earlier that the gas was engineered by Harry Sullivan who was a medical Doctor affiliated with UNIT who was a companion to the Fourth Doctor in season 12 of the classic series and appeared in the story that introduced the Zygons. The Doctor often referred to Harry as an imbecile.
"Five rounds, rapid" was a callback to Kate's dad, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, in an episode called "The Dæmons."
I cry during this speech. The best war speech, the best forgiveness speech. And we know he really understands the pain and the possibility of forgiveness.
You know what makes that speech so remarkable, he did it in ONE TAKE word perfect, first time. If you look in the background you can see Kate and Osgood crying, thats how good it was. And he got a standing ovation after!!

Capaldi's doing an impression of Hughie Green, a TV personality who hosted popular game/talent shows _Double Your Money_ and _Opportunity Knocks_ from the 1950s to the 70s, and Capaldi uses his catchphrase ("I mean that most sincerely") at one point. Although British born and bred, Hughie Green had spent a few years the USA and Canada, where he seems to have picked up his strange "American" accent.
The saddest news today is the passing of our pal Bernard Cribbins.
Not "chicken and monkeys." It's "cheeky little monkeys."
"Cheeky little monkey" being a common British term of endearment for a mischievous child.
"Chicken and Monkeys" ought to be a thing, though.
9:18 Oh yeah 😁 there was some random Gallifreyan in a fourth doctor episode who called the doctor Basil! This is why I watch reactions, to remember cool little nuggets and references, Shame I don't recall the "five rounds, rapid" throwback, so thank you fellow commenters.

"I'll be the judge of time" the pun being he is a time lord but also that it has nothing to do with actual time, but how it felt
The line where the Doctor says "I did this on a very important day for me" is always glossed over as so insignificant.....it means more than people realise. He still marks that day....The Doctor, in the old barn house....with a big red button.
This solidified Capaldi for me.

Yes! Is one of the top moments of this new Doctor WHo Era. Some people say that David Tenant is The Doctor, Matt Smith has The Episode and Capaldi has The Speech :)

The truth imo is that Peter Capaldi is the greatest actor to play The Doctor that doesn't make him the best Doctor ever but for me he is second behind "My Doctor" the 10th Doctor, David Tennant. Peter is a lifelong fan just like David & his love and appreciation for the character & it's fans is huge & I adored his portrayal 😍
And unlike David, he was there from the very beginning with Hartnell
