Not really. This is a tailor made item, it's actually made for doctors because they deal with sick people then pick up their phones and ultimately infect themselves. Think about how many times a doctor would use their phone throughout the day, it's not that much because they need to be present with people but for the average person, with too much money and time on their hands, i agree.

I just spray 70% solution of Isopropyl alcohol into a small piece of soft towel to clean my phone.
It's much easier to place your phone in a device like this multiple times a day when you were going to place your phone down anyway to rest or charge.
Yeah it's a good technology. But it has it's own disadvantage. It doesn't wipe off the finger marks on your phone screen. That's why I still prefer manual labor. It only takes a minute.
@@rjevangelista9769 yes you can easily wipe ur phone with a wet tissue to remove anything stuck to it. But a simple wipe doesn't really "clean" it. That's where this comes in.

After someone takes a microscope to these phones we won’t know more! I would argue that alcohol without a shadow of a doubt is much more effective as a disinfectant than a uv light, mainly bc we know already that alcohol is an extremely effective disinfectant already.
@@SavageBeastism you are wrong about 2 things. There actually is ARE scientific tests proving this works, and you can find them all over TH-cam. If they didn't actually perform the tests themselves they wouldn't be able to make the claim. Secondly, I said nothing about alcohol not working. I was responding to the notion of just setting a paper towel with water to wipe off any dirt or grime stuck on your phone. Yes, that visually will remove the grime off the surface, but does not serve as a true disinfecting of the device.

Those wipes are actually really bad for your phone screen! What I use is a little bit of hand sanitizer on a microfiber cloth. Probably not the best method, but definitely less harmful towards the phone itself.

@aadil esmail At least with the models we have in Sweden, the products say it won't work on fabric. I think it's because the light can't penetrate the fibers but viruses and bacteria can do that easily.

Phones are filthy. Everytime I touch somebody’s phone I wanna wash my hands 📱 I don’t like letting people use mine because most have poor hand hygiene. Statistically the amount of people who don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom sends me 🦠😷

My mom bought me one of these for Christmas, they are actually pretty nice! My favorite part is that there is no gross residue which comes from wipes and other forms of cleaning my phone.
Lou, I've had Phonesoap for about 2 years. Recently, I've noticed that when I take the phone out (now IP11Pro Max), there is a vertical line across my phone's screen that glows. This is the same area where the UV light bar is. Do you tihnk this will damage the phone's OLED screen in the long run?

Um, not. Most wipes take the protective coating off your phone screen and also damage the lens on your camera amongst other things. FYI: All phones aren't waterproof either plus it has Qi wireless charging built-in. So it can clean and charge simultaneously.

I would be a bit worried about how repetitive bath in UV light would affect the LCD or OLED panels and the camera sensors after a time.

I actually found a fully functioning phonesoap unit at a thrift store for about $10. Didn't have a power adapter though but I have plenty of those anyway.
Only seems to do the screen and the back of the phone. Meaning all the surrounding of the phone is still germ covered

Acohol is perfectly safe even if it spills directly into your phone.
Pure (distilled) water is also quite safe since it's not very conductive and only the minerals make it dangerous to electronics.

i used to lysol wipe my old phone, but when i got my new phone I didn't want to damage the oleophobic coating and stuff so i started washing it..

UV-C may degrade the OLEDs. You can test by covering half the screen and look for burn-ins.
My phone goes into it every night when I get home, it is right by my front door, I also use hand sanitizer on my screen when out and about, especially when using mass transit. When my brother gave it to me for my birthday, I was like are you kidding me, me now, thanks !
