theLordKy0 I think that might just be a feature rather than a design flaw. I noticed that pin has the smallest profile, which can be tricky to pull out. The intended way to disconnect could be tilting the connector to any direction to break the magnetic loop. I was very interested in this kind of cable, until I read about the charging time issue.
I’ve never had a good experience with magnetic cables. Especially with the iPhones, I’m sure it happens on android as well. overtime your phone's charging port wears down. The connector that’s supposed to stay in your phone will eventually start popping out whenever you rip the cord off. Essentially becoming a regular charger. Once this starts happening there’s really no point using it anymore. Really the best thing to do would be to buy one with a brand new phone that has a newer charging port so that it will stay in there and your charger port will not wear as fast. However I’m assuming people who buy these have at least had their phone for a while. Just my 2 cents :)
You can usually just buy a new "tip" and with the genx or gen 10 version, you should just bend the cable towards the front or back of the phone to disconnect. This way it doesn't try to pull the tip out or make it excessively loose. I've been using them for over a year and they're pretty great IMO.

Net dot gen 10 is better to me than the gen 12 because the plug at the bottom isnt round. But one of the main benefits I don't think you mentioned was that you can use one cable for 3 different connector types. 4 pack of cables from net Dot were like under 20 bucks and each came with 3 connectors. (Micro USB, USB C and lightning) very convenient.
The only problems I ever had with all magnetic cables I tried so far and also being an engineer/Tech is that the ends of either the cable or the connector on the phone are gathering all sorts of metal fillings/rubbish from either the pocket or the surfaces I am putting it on and have to demagnetize and clean it as it may cause a short when you plug it in.
I have the one that has the stronger magnet that pulls the connector out. You just have to be sure to hold the cable below the connector point and pull straight out to get the whole thing removed. Very good design.
The part where you’re talking about giving companies extra points for putting leds to let you know it’s charging and then unplug it and the led was still green had me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hi Lew, I got one for my grandma as she is using nokia 3310 (2017). The phone has Micro USB, which is difficult for her to plug in properly (as she is old and have shaky hands). The magnet cable works like a charm for her. The one I got for her is the one you have at 8:15. Just plug and charge her phone, whenever she needs to, with no worries. much much convenience. Wireless headsets are the best sort of application for these cables. Once you get a low battery notification, just slap the cable to the side of your head rather than needing to take it off and find the right spot/orientation (because most wireless headsets these days still use micro-USB). I've been using the Netdot ones for the past several years, and I've never really thought about it, but it's a real game changer
The end of the stock cable destroys the port inside of the device if you keep focking with it. Basically, it's an operator error if you destroy the port.
Been using the magnetic charging cables for YEARS now, I have no idea why this is new to so many people. Here is a quick rundown: The early mag cables were good until the pins wore out (but replacement plugs were cheap, so no big deal). The first swivel plugs were a welcome addition, but you had to sacrifice data to get the rotation feature (so charge only). Then there were a mass of el-cheapo mag cables that came out, they would work for a month or so, then would crap out. Soon after that more and more "I've-heard-of-them" brands started coming out with their own mag cables, these for the most part were good enough for me to toss my non-magnetic charging cables in a cupboard and go all mag,,,,,,,,,,,,but you may have to give up super fast charging (which I don't use, so whatever).
One thing people need to look out for with magnetic fittings. If you work around metal filings these are a no-no. The filings get stuck in the fitting, cause a short and the cable is useless.
Someone I worked with had one of these, and the piece that goes into the phone eventually broke, leaving part of it stuck inside the phone. He had to get it repaired at Verizon. I think the concept of a magnetic charger is cool and convenient, but until the phone manufacturers don't implement it themselves, I'm steering clear of this.
I use one for years now with an armored case. Since its armored it sits flush with the case. For phones without wireless charging is just perfect imo. It protects the port from dirt and the cable from tearing down with time. The only problem is that you have to clean the receptors from time to time, but it's better to clean the cable than having to clean inside your phone.
With the more protruding ones, one will inevitably get used to the connector sticking out at the bottom, as one does with all things. We were used to bezzles, got used to droplet cameras, etc. But the bigger concern is snag danger when you pull it out of your pocket or bag, since a few hard snags may have the same damaging effect as a hard pull from a plugged in cable, which would defy the purpose of the magnetic connectors.
Also a very useful application is for tablets and laptops, because if you would trip over the cable it would disconnect and not pull the thing down with it
The reason you need one with individual pins on the magnetic connection. Is so it can support AndroidGo/CarPlay in your car. Also they usually support full quick charge. Love the show dude. 👍👍
This is not "COOL" "COOL" is charging my device through a FAST charger! I barely ever use wireless charging since its not that fast, and that is way cooler than Magnetic charging!
@@Zez1nas Yea I can't understand all these fancy charging methods. The only "COOL" charging method is putting my phone on a fast charger, go for a shower, come back and its pumped up!
I love magnetic cables and have bought a couple of versions off ebay. I ended up using the one that allowed charging and data syncing (USB 3.0). Since my wireless earphones still uses microusb, having the nibs in all my devices (usb-c and microusb) and carrying around only 1 magnetic cable makes it convenient. There is also less stress on the port itself when I have to unplug and go. The data sync is useful for using in the car when I connect to Android Auto to my vehicle. Because it is magnetic, I can just plug it in with one hand and keeping my eyes on the road. Wish they will start making ones that is thunderbolt 3 usb-c data transfer capability so I can plug my surface laptop to the monitor.
@@thyncha I mean I can imagine that he sometimes exaggerates his opinion to boost the interaction from people but nevertheless for me in the end, I thinl everyone can still evaluate the products himself
I've been using a magnetic connector for over a year now. One cable for 2 types of phone and PS4 controller. With little kids having no control or not thinking about how they treat cables, these make so much sense. Fast charging is a little hit and miss.
I had one that started with a super strong magnet and fast charging, but after a week or so it slowed down exponentially, eventually showing weird times like- 99hours to full charge
We we are effectively getting to that stage already. Wireless charging is almost becoming the norm. It's crazy to think what we could be using in the next few years ! That's why technology is fucking beautiful!
Personally, I wouldn’t use these on my phone. but I love them on my gaming setup, magnetic connection on my wireless headset makes putting them on charge after i’ve used them so much more convenient.
i got like 4 or 5 different things i want to charge, this will make things so much easier and less cable clutter, nice to see the different types of magnetic cables :)
I use Volta cables. I haven't purchased one for my iPhone because it only has USB-A for the lightning connector, but I do use it for the MacBook Pro because they have a USB-C to USB-C cable. If they offered a lightning connector/tip for the USB-C cable, I would definitely use it.

My brain: that seems fun to me
Also my brain: *STOP THIS KIND OF TORTURE*
Also a very useful application is for tablets and laptops, because if you would trip over the cable it would disconnect and not pull the thing down with it
The reason you need one with individual pins on the magnetic connection. Is so it can support AndroidGo/CarPlay in your car. Also they usually support full quick charge.
Love the show dude. 👍👍
The end: ART
This is not "COOL"
"COOL" is charging my device through a FAST charger!
I barely ever use wireless charging since its not that fast, and that is way cooler than Magnetic charging!
Yea i totaly agree with that ... 50w super vooc and after 30min 0-100% thats way cooler then some shity wireless charger
@@Zez1nas Yea I can't understand all these fancy charging methods. The only "COOL" charging method is putting my phone on a fast charger, go for a shower, come back and its pumped up!
@@FreePalestine.. This is not wireless charging. This is wired charging.
Whats cool is not having to plug up your phone at all because you have several wireless chargers
@@travelguy78 yea read again
I use Volta magnetic cables. Price-wise, definitely in the "premium" sector.
Volta for the win
Lew: I was in search of the coolest cable Meaning: I’m gonna make a new never before seen cable. . . .
I love how Lew has always so much excitement for Tech. Makes me always curious for seeing the newest innovation. Keep it up boys!
Me too he is sooo gooooood at this analyzing weird stuff mostly hahahah
I stopped being curious when i realised how fake he is, that is how he's getting paid for it.
@@thyncha 🤨 he gets his money from TH-cam and irl when he does get stuff from other company's it's the tech that he is reviewing
@@thyncha I mean I can imagine that he sometimes exaggerates his opinion to boost the interaction from people but nevertheless for me in the end, I thinl everyone can still evaluate the products himself

Lew: I present to you the later cable
For a low price of $89.99
And this video gets deleted
Lew: DISCLAMER...
Me: hehehe time to spend my money
I've been using a magnetic connector for over a year now. One cable for 2 types of phone and PS4 controller. With little kids having no control or not thinking about how they treat cables, these make so much sense. Fast charging is a little hit and miss.
I had one that started with a super strong magnet and fast charging, but after a week or so it slowed down exponentially, eventually showing weird times like- 99hours to full charge
6:36 When keep I missing the key hole of my door after a long day at school.😂
From 2030: “what are cables”
True 💔😂
We we are effectively getting to that stage already. Wireless charging is almost becoming the norm. It's crazy to think what we could be using in the next few years ! That's why technology is fucking beautiful!
Based on how much progress we've made in the past decade, I wouldn't be surprised that wireless charging will take over before the end of 2030.
Please respond to this in 10 years

I miss the big desk! Glad to see it's back. Love that we got some humor back into the vids also!
Personally, I wouldn’t use these on my phone. but I love them on my gaming setup, magnetic connection on my wireless headset makes putting them on charge after i’ve used them so much more convenient.
10:30 Omg, i thought this is family friendly tech review :D It ends up with pron 🤔
He: Don't do this to your phone
Also he: does that 39 times after saying that
Willy Du : 🙎🏻♂️
Who misses this?
i got like 4 or 5 different things i want to charge, this will make things so much easier and less cable clutter, nice to see the different types of magnetic cables :)
One of my phones died because of cables like these. The contacts can connect in any manner of configurations and byebye phone.

Edit this comment before anyone realizes that you spelt explode as explore.😬😬
When are you going to do a Review on the new LG v60.
I got stung by a wasp three times while watching this. Irrelevant, I know, nothing to do with the video.
Are ya okay, brother?
Did you get charged by it?
I didn’t even notice it until it stung.
I use Volta cables. I haven't purchased one for my iPhone because it only has USB-A for the lightning connector, but I do use it for the MacBook Pro because they have a USB-C to USB-C cable. If they offered a lightning connector/tip for the USB-C cable, I would definitely use it.
The connecting and disconnecting was very relaxing... ASMR style!!! I want to go to sleep now!!!
"and when theese go on and connect... WHAT?!" 06:37
