I will be exchanging my Bravia 8 for the Samsung S95D, coming from the Sony X95L. The X95L being one of the brightest mini-led tv's last year was just too bright for me in a nighttime viewing / dimmed room with HDR content. The Bravia 8 does much better in this respect and is a lot softer on the eyes. The sharpness, depth op field and contrast are impressive compared to mini-led. With a 20-30% step-up in brightness (compared to the A80L) it is clearly more suitable for bright rooms, but the glossy screen is very reflective in those situations, which for me a little bit defeats the purpose. I don't understand why Sony did not just keep the semi-matte screen of the A80L. The overall brightness of this tv is enough, but it seems to be pushed very much towards white. Compared to the X95L colors look a bit washed out and especially deep reds have a slight orange tint to it, colors just don't pop as much in general. Also, white balance is off on this tv and pushes towards blue. My panel, in particular, has a noticeable green shift at an angle of about 45 degrees. All in all I think this tv is more suitable for a dark /light controlled room, like a bed room or gaming/theatre room. In that case the A80L is clearly the better value and less reflective. The improvements in processing are minor compared to last year. For me, this is all reason enough to be exchanging it for the Samsung S95D, which looked very impressive in the stores with its matte screen. I also like the design of the S95D much more if you use a stand. The feet of the Bravia 8 look a bit thin and cheap to me.
@@HasNiHassaan S95D was a big improvement over the Bravia 8. Better color, better whites, better HDR rendering. I also loved the matte screen. No more reflections during the day and you don't see/notice it at night. In the end I also returned the S95D and went for the Bravia 9, because both Oled tv's gave me eye strain problems, which is something that is related to Oled. At first I thought there was a problem with the Bravia 8 panel, but with the S95D I got the same eye strain problems. Difficult to explain what was going on, but as if my eyes could not focus on the screen anymore after a while. Maybe it is due to the brightness dip /PWM frequency or maybe just the micro contrast messing with my eyes. The UI and processing of the S95D, however, is not on par with Sony and the color rendering in "normal" mode us oversaturated. All in all the Bravia 9 outperforms both tv's, Bravia 8 by a lot, S95D mainly in processing and HDR performance. Bravia 9 just gives excellent performs out of the box with every content and every setting. Every mode colors and rendering looks natural. Dolby Vision which was a pain on X95L and Bravia 8, just looks great on the Bravia 9, think it has to do with the better contrast combined with the headroom in brightness. Bravia 9 just gives you movie like experience with real world content and the HDR impact/ experience is something even QD Oled just can't deliver. Yes Oled's micro contrast is very impressive, but you really only notice that if you play dark themes games and HDR demo's on TH-cam, you don't notice it so much with normal streaming/tv content. The Blacks on bravia 9 are almost oled like and you don't miss Oled. All dark content looks great and HDR impact stands out more. Would only consider Oled if you game a lot with dark themed games etc, in a dark room, and don't have any eyestrain issues with Oled.

Still has no answer for color banding also SDR gaming like Nintendo Switch is far worse, personally I would not recommend the C4 for gaming unless were talking about 48" and 42" users because your options are very limited there.
@@TechWithKG I'd say majority Switch gamer's are playing in portable mode not docked to a TV anyway. It's weird the LG C4 cops criticism for having lower brightness in game mode when the Sony has less brightness in HDR for all modes including game mode but no one talks about this. A 42" or 48" would be targeting PC gamer's predominantly who dont want to be limited to just 120hz, better of with 32" QD-Oled monitor's than now have many options with 4k and 240+hz. On settings bar under Picture & Sound select that scroll down make sure "Ambient Optimation" is clicked off and of course energy savings off under energy saving, HDR. Also make sure you can get to picture settings by pressing settings button on controller scroll over to the right to edit and put a check mark on picture settings so its on your menu bar.
@@TechWithKG thank u so much did this.
Calling an OLED mid-range is wild
There are budget, mid range and high end OLEDs. All OLEDs are not created equal and they don’t all perform the same.
@@IntotheFurther. tell that to the price range 😅
Bro I’m a fan of yours I’m with you all the time but why the videos that dark and it looks like the cam is not that good maybe asking Brian for some tips or fomo 😅🎉
It’s your phone. Upgrade it so you can see it in HDR. The video is spectacular
@@NexGenTekthank you for the answer not like our brother always ignoring but it’s okay 😅 and I got an Samsung ultra 24 and an Samsung ultra 23 and ultra 21 an iPhone 12 and 14 and plus I got an Samsung S95 C 65 so I know what I talking about brother😅
Did you watch it in HDR? I am using a 6k cinema camera to film it my camera is great and I made sure to adjust it for the best dynamic range possible with no clipping so you can closely see what I am seeing. I am also not having the TV in vivid or standard mode to film this.
@@TechWithKG yes it is in HDR I really don’t know why that is like this, anyway Im still watching your channel any camera you would use
wot the hdr peak brightness in game mode average 700 nits & hold on lg better for gaming more options & brighter in sdr & hdr
Guys I am going to get new OLED TV. Any recommendations? A80L, A95L, Bravia 8 or cheaper LG C3 C4
What size? Of all those you listed A95L is by far the better TV but a heftier price most places
@@TechWithKG 65 inch but A95L in my country is like 5000USD. It's a bit over my budget. I think A80L, Bravia 8, C4 and G4 or similar price one
G4 if it’s in your budget for sure
Is the Bravia 8 as good as the A95L.
In some areas it can be but it’s not as bright and colorful due to it being W-OLED
Thank you.
Seems like a lot of black crush , shadow detail not so good
I just got this TV. This is Not and upgrade over the A80J. It won't do variable audio out using 3.5mm or optical. (a80j does on Both).
The new menu system is terrible. The bravia 8 is SLOW. When I use youtubeTV on A80J and hit settings, it pauses the tv. when I hit back, the A80J nearly Instantly resumes. The Bravia 8 goes black for 4-6 seconds before it goes back to the tv show. The colors aren't better on the 8 vs 80 at all. You can say it's brighter, but it's just more washed out.....
I hate it. I will keep my A80J and see what happens in a few years.... maybe when LG goes 4th gen QD-OLED..... the bravia 8 is So bad. I have never faster buyer's remorse than this tv.
brian posted a short vido of a95l vs bravia 8 at best buy and bravia 8 trades blows i say
Superbe vidéo et le Bravia 8 se montre mieux que L'A95 l
He keeps saying the bravia 8 is better than the c4 yet in every other video I have seen they say the c4 is better in every way apart from a dimmer game mode..🤔
Its close between them but processing and picture clarity, overall depth of the image is better on the BRAVIA 8 it also holds onto color better in higher brightness content this isn't really anything new A80J was better than the C1 A80K was better than the C2 A80L was better than the C3, and yes game mode is a no contest Bravia 8 is just a better picture all around. btw this is coming from someone who likes the G4 the best in terms of picture depth and clarity unfortunately all that goodness doesn't trickle down to the C4 it just isn't anywhere near the same level as the G4
hows depth and clarity of bravia 8 compare to g4???@@TechWithKG
@@giotorres9848 Same question. In my country 65 G4 is much cheaper than 65 Bravia 8. Please help in deciding between the two in terms of colour luminance, clarity, depth etc @techwithkg
@@Gaurav18nov Je suis pour le bravia 8 plus raffiné,mais le G4 est un cran au dessus avec le MLA et Micro lentilles il est un peut plus lumineux, alors prenez le G4
Any burnin issue??? 😂
Not for years
Bravia 8 is mid range? Whats high range?
Man i want a bravia 8 or nice oled really bad and i have the money. Its just not the right tv for me. I use mine for background and leave running all the time. I got a nice sony led and its really good. Guess i just have to stick with that. Sure would like that OLED screen though, playing games and when i do sit and watch a movie
