Today, Sony lowered the BRAVIA 8 OLED TVs 65" to now be $2,499. and the 55" $1.799. We're still delivering Nationwide from 7 warehouses across America at no charge.

@@electronbashful540 no, it isn't. Brightness isn't the same thing as contrast, especially not full screen brightness. Contrast is about both brightness and darkness and the ability to have them right next to each other. That's where OLED excels 🤷‍♂️

@@paulcox2447 OLED fanboys tend to not know the difference between contrast and contrast ratio. They don't even realize that 'infinite contrast' isn't a thing either nor the fact that even OLED's blacks aren't perfect. They just eat up all of the marketing terms without any rational thought behind it.

Honestly, I’m really excited to see what the Bravia 8 can do with this new panel (the LG C4 can now reach 1,000 nits), and new chipset. And at a higher retail price than previous years, it should get closer to the A95L. I don’t care how bright the Bravia 9 LED can get, it can never deliver this level of contrast-and higher contrast will deliver better all around HDR performance

How is the white balance out of the box? With the A80l the white balance was pretty cold, leaning towards blue according to what hifi and rtings. Did you notice this? Supposedly the Bravia 8 is more accurate, but still no actual tests available. For me the white balance, brightness, new menu structure, sleeker design and center sync 2.0 are enough to go for the Bravia 8.

No. Both are good for different user needs. The A95L is not an OLED. If you watch TV during the daytime mostly or in a very bright room, the A95L may suit you better. The Bravia 8 is an OLED, producing deeper blacks and better suited for movies. I bought the Bravia 8 because I wanted a good TV for watching movies and shows.

@@Tekhelet75this statement is wrong, the A95L is a QD-OLED. The Bravia 9 is a mini led and the Bravia 8 in this video is a WOLED. The A95L is better than the Bravia 8 as it gets brighter and with the QD OLED technology has a wider color gamut so hdr impact will be greater. Upscaling between the tvs will be similar and generally picture quality will be great on both.

Go to Rtings, pull up the review of the following X90L, X93L, X95L, Bravia 7, A80K, and A95L. Then pull up another TV of your choice in a different window. Then look at the 3 HDR images and zoom in (the hallway, cityscape, castle with pool) and look at the text on the left side of the wall and the lights in the hallway, the text on the bridge and the rails, the roof of the house and grass. Compare them side-by-side.

    • @thenonexistinghero

The Bravia 8 is basically Sony's 'cheaper' and newer alternative for the A95L. Though given Sony's history with these things... you'd probably be better with last year's A95L instead, since their newer and 'cheaper' alternative tends to be worse overal than the high-end model from the year before, while their high-end model from the year before will be around a similar price thanks to price drops.
Of course, this is just assumptions. Who knows maybe Sony will rewrite their own history and actually manage to deliver a thigh-end TV (sometimes mid-end) that is actually better than their top-end TV from the previous year.

@@thenonexistinghero Not 100% accurate because the A95L isn’t just last years tv. They haven’t stopped production and will keep making new A95L’s and it’s still the only master series being sold even “above” the Bravia 9. It also is getting all the software updates including AI VoiceZoom and Prime Calibrated Mode from the new 2024 TV’s. So the Bravia 8 isn’t being positioned as an A95L replacement. The A95L is still Sonys best current TV and has the same mediatek chipset as the Bravia 9 hence why it has all the new software features

Looks to me all the the G4 gives up is color volume and gamut, and it’s actually more accurate out of the box…

@@airforcex9412 The Bravia 7 has worse viewing angles and reflections than the X93L and worse blooming - check Rtings for the blooming and you'll see the subtitles bloom all over with the Bravia 7. They bloom less with the X93L and almost not at all with the X95L - at least in the images that they have.
I don't understand why the Bravia 7 is missing a X-wide viewing angle and doesn't have the same backlight as the X95L. It seems they favored the Bravia 9 at the expense of the 7 but the 7 is so expensive compared to the competition and entry level QD OLED.

I don’t think they are saying it’s a bad tv, they are just saying that it’s more expensive than its counterparts and not a major upgrade over the previous year a80l. It’s basically slightly brighter and has lower input lag for games (which is important to some people) vs the A80L. Also a couple minor game mode features added. Otherwise it’s about identical to the A80L in picture quality. It’s better at upscaling older content than its 2024 counterparts/competitors the LG C4 and Samsung S90D but the LG is close in upscaling and the Samsung (while worse in upscaling) is a QD OLED which has more brightness, color, and HDR Impact. You’re basically paying for upscaling ability with the Sony Bravia 8. Like Brian says, upscaling should be an important buying decision factor for most people but only you can decide how important it is to you or if it’s worth paying for. As an avid watcher of old 70s/80s/90s sitcoms and older movies as well as sports the Sony tvs usually get my money when I’m in the market for a tv because I want that older content to look as good as it possibly can. If you want a Sony OLED with Sony upscaling at an affordable price A80L or Bravia 8 are smart buys. The XR processor is best in class

I have both types and prefer QD-OLED because of the color brightness and accuracy. I will say tho that high end WOLED like G3/G4 does have a starker white which jumps off the screen. Without using equipment to measure it the WOLED whites seem a lot brighter and more vivid.

  • @claykeough7898
    @claykeough7898 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Until processing compression and upscaling gets better for streaming I'm not spending that kind of money on a smaller TV with better contrast. My 85x90l most times blows people's minds and buying that with a full Atmos surround with bar, rears and sub is still significantly cheaper than just this TV in a smaller size. OLED is the best but even with the money it's hard to justify buying 5k TV unless you're really wealthy and even then it's tough when some of these much cheaper models are starting to perform so well. The flaws are far less apparent or distracting and the image can be tweaked to look mostly great to you and your family/guests.

It’s unfortunate in many reviews I have viewed the A95L is no longer mentioned. The Bravia 8 is not Sony’s only OLED release for 2024. The A95L has been re-released for 2024. Why? Because in many respects and metrics it still has no peer. Overall Image processing, color accuracy, color saturation and overall Color Gamut.
This is a bit of a subjective statement, but as a Calibrator with twenty six years of experience I would recommend the A95L above all peers including the G4.
The A95L is not only still relevant it is still in my opinion the highest benchmark in OLED.
