    Hi. looking at this video from Bangkok Thailand. Thank you for the detailed explanation. After taking the 6000OC real apart and reassembling it it felt rough as hell. After watching your video and making me aware of the arrows on the gear i finally managed to assemble the real so it felt smooth. Took a lot of messing and the arrows don't seem to line up where it feels smooth but hey if it works it works. :)

      Thanks for watching! Yep, those arrows can be a pain.
      Sometimes you'll have to play with lining up the arrows. What the eyes see isn't always the correct line. Open it back up, keep playing with the arrows (without the gear shims in place)... after each set, cover the reel so the gears are in the correct vertical orientation, and turn the rotor/pinion by hand.... if you feel any kind of resistance, then the arrows aren't lined up properly. If it feels fine, put the gear shims on and try it again.... if you now feel resistance, the issue is coming from your shims, so you'll have to play with them to get the overall feel right.
      I have a Baitrunner 4000D coming up this Sunday that may be more beneficial for you to watch, so keep an eye out for it.
      Either way, don't use the reel until you get this right... if the issue is the arrow alignment, you'll damage the gears, and possibly more.... if it's the shims, you'll cause premature wear on the teeth.
      Hope that helps.

    Thank you for the extremely detailed tutorial. I think I now have the confidence to tackle my Shimano Baitrunner.

    I guess a good test to find out if the gears are aligned properly is to spin the reel fast at the end when fully reassembled, and wait to see if the gravity brings the handle naturally to its lowest position. Any resistance from the improperly aligned gears should prevent this.

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! In the future, please include the specific time you're referring to if referencing something specific in the video. I'm guessing you're referring to the alignment of the drive and oscillation gear... I like where you're going, but even if aligned correctly, sometimes the reel may do that if there's too much fresh grease on the gears. There is really only one specific way for the drive and osc to mesh, and you should be able to feel that right away by just putting the side cover on and giving the rotor a gentle spin.... or very slowly sipping the pinion gear in your fingers if the rotor isn't on yet... you'll feel if it's "wrong".
      If you were referring to something else, let me know the time in the video so I can check it out. Spread the word about the channel.

      @@TSGReelService Thank you very much for the comprehensive response, and the fantastic work and information that you do and provide. Noted re pointing to a place in the video, will keep it in mind for future. I did check as you suggested as well, but without the cover back on, and moving the main gear, and then pinion too. I guess because of the low ratio of teeth on the main gear that couples with the oscillating gear, the arrows will be very much off even if you are one tooth out, so I didn't have the problem with aligning, but note your point and the fellow from Bangkok comment below. I'll have to take it apart to service bait runner drag so will keep all of above in mind! Thanks again, you deserve a million subscribers.

      Yes, agreed regarding being just one tooth off. Happy to hear you didn't have trouble... sadly, there have been times I just couldn't get these things to line up to save my life!
      And yes, referencing the time in the video helps us stay on the same page. Thanks again. Barry

    Great video! You have much confidence.
    With your experience what do you think is the best quality baitfeeder type reel as far as gears, bearings, drag washers, & overall build go? The Shimano Baitfeeder OC & D models, Daiwa Free Swimmer, Daiwa Emcast Bite n Run, or the Penn Live Liner reels?
    Which ones are easier to completely tear down and reassemble?

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! The D's and OC's are pretty straightforward. I've never had an opportunity to work on the Daiwas you mentioned. Spread the word about the channel.

    I service a handful of reels here locally. I serviced a rather used Baitrunner this past week. I ran into the roller clutch assembly being rusted throughout. I tried to revive it but once completing the install the reel would not get out of freespool. There was essentially no reverse brake... Do you think that is the part that needs replaced or did I reassemble incorrectly.

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's likely you need a new a/r clutch.

    This video confirms that I should NOT attempt to open mine. Just gonna run it till it dies. It has a sandy scratchy sound but no way I can ever do this right. And I know no one I trust with it here in Zimbabwe. So will just run it as is till it dies

    Hi, i dont know if you will see this intime but i am suposed to be going fishing monday for a week, just gone to set my rods up and my shimano baitrunner 10000xte has somehow locked, if i put it into backwards reeling it moves 1cm but on normal it is solid, any advice? nothing about them on youtube

      Thanks for watching. Problem could be bad bearings, bad a/r, or just something out of place. You'll need to open it up or take it to a repair shop to find. Secure a spare reel for next week, just in case.

    I hate this reel. Bought it and used a few times. End of the season noticed it did not feel right. Took it apart and greased it and was fine for 1-2 trips but then started to notice it going south again. I have a LOT of Shimano reels and this model has been my first Shimano with issues.
