Just saved my life. Had broken side cover and had to replace when reverse gear fell apart as I took it off. Luckily I managed to find all the parts but had no idea until I watched this. You need to make sure all the springs are perfectly positioned otherwise it won’t work properly. As the rollers won’t close properly.

I’ve just serviced my Stradic 1000 20 years old, it’s perfect now the super stopper was slipping I disassembled it but there was no need you only need to take the longer screws out and steep the whole unit in alcohol, cheers

This vids a life saver. Tore down my shimano symetre 4000, passed down reel from my gramps. Its the 2004 model and it is still quite smooth, but i wanted to put some corrosion x around the sideplates etc. For surf fishing. I tore it down and noticed a lot of dirty grease and water got into the super stopper. Took it apart and aimlessly put it back together to end up with a disfunctioning anti reverse! Was about to part it until i saw this vid... great content for any shimano fanboy!

Great video! It did help me reassemble the anti reverse. I did remove all of the lubrication and reassemble the reel. But the anti reverse clutch still not functioning. Will have to reassemble and recheck every thing. Thanks for posting.

Eyyyy... Glad to have helped and glad you're up and running.. Just remember any lube on the top and bottoms of the cylinders may cause failure since they can't move inward and out

That little segment you did was literally me at 10pm the night before my big fishing trip, which is today :) Bought the sienna 4000, couldn't find out why it wasn't smooth as it was when I bought it last week. So, I tore it down, greased the gearset with some Mercury Quicksilver grease I had for the boat (didn't really have anything else laying around). I saw some bearings and decided I was going to throw a dab of grease on there too, not realizing it was the anti reverse system. Popped the screw out and realized I dun goofed when the springs came out. This vid saved my ass. So thank you for saving my trip.
Man I look every time I click on a vid at the subs and am surprised every single time that you don't have over 20k subs. You really do piss off some of the stubborn fans apparently lol.
LOL.....it's not that..not entirely anyway lol :). The content I put out doesn't target the 13 to 17 year olds. Which are what the channels that experience explosive growth hone in on. 1.3% of my views are of that age demographic. Those in the 25 to55 year old bracket make up 80% of my views.....and they can't be bothered to click on a subscribe button....(I'm the same way :) ) However I do get more views than many of the channels out there with 20k, 30k, 60k. Which is pretty interesting, and encouraging. It's also cool that lots of the bigger youtubers. Turn to me for advise...lol

Helpful in that you did a great job in clearly filming the correct position of the springs but for whatever reason the reel still spins backwards. In your defense, I'm working with a Saragosa 20k that also has a anti reverse pawg spring that became damaged during a cleaning. I could be wrong but I read somewhere that this part is a back up to the roller clutch assembly so I gave your method try.
Thought my rod was broken 😂 finally got it to lock. All it took was arraning the spring to hold the little metal pieces 😂😂 wouldve never been able to do it without this video

Question, reel was free cause i mess with the antireverse while cleaning the reel, so this video helped me fixing it. But now the antireverse is stuck in the normal reeling position but i cannot switch to the reverse, i really don't mind cause as many others i find it unuseful. But there is a problem with that? Shall I try to reasemble the antireverse or is ok like it is now??
Can I ask you. I have Shimano stradic fl C2000SHG and twin power 1000 and my planning is to do maintenance of them. But I'm not sure about the tools size to open the screws. Do you know what number of Wera hex should I buy?
what lube do you use for the AR bearing? some lube make it slipped some not. there are saying that we shouldn't use grease on the AR but most baitcaster has their AR clutch packed full of grease out of the factory without any issues
Different designs....non shimano ar clutches can be greased. Best bet...run shimano's dry. and if you do lube..don't lube the top and bottom of the cylinders
I will never understand how subtle changes in the conditions ( oil ) malfunction this system. I cleaned up all the oil it works but a lot of friction noise. The last time I tore apart the reel, I had to use some oil and it worked, this time it doesn't work which is weird.

Also, I realize that the same super stopper 2 clutch assembly may have been used in other reels of the time for 1000 and 2500 sizes Any help would be appreciated!

I serviced and surf prepped tons of reel for guys on a forum and showed many how to. It''s pretty common..Or at least I think so.lol

When I service these I install the pins with the clutch sleeve in. It helps keep them in place
