Every outboard I have been around starts shooting water out of the tele tale in a matter of seconds from a cold start. There is definitely something wrong with the cooling system, assuming that proper water pressure and volume is coming out of the ear muffs.
Need to get yourself a Husqvarna 500 CR. Super tall and stupid fast, like riding a bullet. Got an 86 model in today and need fork seals. Took it for cruise first, pops up in every gear..
Okay that engine is supposed to be pissing water out of the overboard dump it's an indicator of whether the raw water pump is working or not the lift pump it's not pumping any water so shut it off and replace the impeller of the raw water lift pump
Orrrrr instead of trying to tell the owner how is engine works you should do sone research. You would realize the reason it’s not peeing is because engine thermostats haven’t opened to allow water to circulate the engine due to the engine not reaching optimal temp yet

On 1990s Mercs water only pisses out of the telltale when the motor is warm and the thermostats are open

Their is nothing wrong with my motor
I have the same engine. I believe it's a 94 black max. Anything you recommend to do to keep it up running strong.
You better turn it off and put a water pump or impeller in it😂
I changed the oil in the Lower end Spark plugs once in a while. Wonder if there's annodes in this engine to clean. Salt deposits
@kennyjones3986 it dosent need a water pump, it has a temp gauge and it never goes past 150 which is perfect normal for that engine
Do the regular maintenance and you should be good, I do the regular maintenance on mine and it runs like new

Ok stop, I know my motor, it something called thermostats and ut dosent come out the telltale until the thermostats open
