That third one was awesome just a look of that Hilborn injection system on top was just awesome to see. I can remember watching the early 1Cam Am cars out in Midland Texas on the test track and you could see those big injectors sticking out of the bodywork. Very cool.
We had a 1970 Tahiti 18’ with a 455. We had the heads O-ringed and the engine line honed, balanced and blueprinted. Everyone said the cranks on the 455 were like glass but we never had a problem. The 18’ was really beamy and was full V bottom. That kept the top speed down but I once pulled six slalom skiers up from a deep water start.
The red and white jet boat at 5:15 has a Ford FE engine. They have a distinctive sound and you can confirm it when you get a good look at the intake, the distributor goes through the front portion of the intake.
Its getting closer to the ice being off the lakes in our area then it will be time to get the boat out and all the lifts and dock. The water was so low last year I couldnt get the lift out for my Donzi its a 22.5 ft with a blown 502 bored .30 over and a good set of heads, its sure NOT a 198 MPH boat (thank God) but it will run in the mid 80s which plenty fast enough for me!
Pretty awesome compilation! That first boat though sounded as if it had som trouble with the lifters. Sounded exactly like the start-up of a GTO mk 3 "the judge". I was lucky enough to capture. That's something you don't get to see too often here in Sweden unless you're a regular visitor of cruises. The owner explained it all to me, after he was able to stop lauging at my reaction from the exhaust being re-egnited (scared shittles, lol! 😂)
It all depends on what kind of boat you owned. I had a 42 ft Chris-Craft that I couldn't wait to sell and I also had a 22 ft Penn Yan that I absolutely loved and was heartbroken to sell.
They are. Berkeley does supply cooling exhaust manifolds, with the exhaust exiting the transome of the boat. It also came with rubber flaps to stop water from entering the exhaust when you stop. Good system. With coolinf manifolds the engine is **slightly** quieter.
I had a Rayson Craft 19’ jet with 454 GM. Was great fun. The footage of the “ Jetavator” trim control Berkley offered was sweet. Was great for washing deck chairs off of docks 😂. Not that that ever happened.
I used to ski behind these in South Africa. Directly behind the boat in the slipstream you didn't ski on water but on bubbles. Played havoc on your shins some times. My dad was a fan.
I guess you never seen about a couple of hemis working their asses off during World War II on the boats they made them Chrysler did so many of them it was unbelievable that's the reason why we win
I used to own a Chevy jet boat many years ago! Very fast!!!! I really enjoyed the boat, but the maintenance and upkeep costs were astronomical, so I had to dump it!
Had a big block Chevy back in the day. Went to look at it at the marine dealer. Captain fired it up and I said SOLD. After the test ride my awesome wife asked the salesman how much do I make the Deposit check out for. God I love my wife. About the only problem was watching the fuel gage drop as fast as the speedometer went up lol. Not really but you get the jist of it.
2nd boat with the tunnel ram and fake injector hat...I went to a dyno day one time with a buddies boat motor, and the guy running the dyno told him to take that crap off the top of the carb, as it was messing with the tuning.
I’m no authority on any of it, but I’m just curious: Didn’t someone have a boat with QUAD 9-liter Lamborghini V-12s some time ago? Does such an animal still exist?
The thing is, with a jet the draft of the boat is small, just a few cm's. When you do hit a sand bank, the boat stops immediately, everyone falls forward from the boat. Getting the boat back in deeper water so that it floats is a huge job, because it is nearly completely out of the water. happened to us a few times. Not nice.
From the opening pic..... you'd think you'd see a variety of engines........ this video ain't so bad if you love bowties......nothing but bowties...... and more bowties......

listening to thos engine idling was so soothing

Yes!
V12s please.

The boat in the picture with 2 v12s is a swedish boat named s1 sverige. Search for that and you will find some films of it
Love that sound!😍😍

Ummm, where was the Gar Wood Miss America with twin Liberty engines? It was pictured on the advert for the vid.

The fish must love the sound of these boats ripping by.
They pull over and salute 🇺🇸
The jet creates a huge amount of noise in the water. Sitting in another boat as these pass by you hear a loud buzz from transferred from the water.
Good old days . Awesome 🤫🗿
Geez those 454s give me wood, such an awesome boat engine!!!!!
Love to see the Aussie boys reppin'... with the VB!!!
Much better than MB, for sure...
There was a boat with a 6.2 diesel I saw on TH-cam once, thing sounded so good
A diesel boat. That's crazy.
CRAZY MAN!!! 😜

They run nice, with an amazing sound!.👍.. Getting them to start, is the problem
alot of that is high compression and large cam.

The 2nd blown chevy is one of the very few BBC engines ive heard that didnt have ridiculous idle surge.

I love these dudes without ear protection…what did you say?
Why do so many of these have a tough time starting?
They just sit for long periods
Timing as well as high lift high performance cams.
Gonna fix one of those for spring on the Spree and Havel around BERLIN. They’ll love it.😜
Love the video
Thanks :) there are more on my channel. Check them out :)
I've been curious about something how does water get into the headers without hydro locking the motor
They are water cooled. Water runs in a jacket around the headers, then it gets ejected out the back with the exhaust. They only meet near the tip.
@@gahbah274 oh cool Thanks

1 min in: BRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! This is America
So. Cool.☄️🎯
Man these guys sure like to run cams with low LSA, running those cams on anything other than full race engines is a pain in the butt.
Beautiful noises
Great video!😍
Was für eine Power Klasse
Where are you from people ? :)
You probably could puta 300 hp Merc outboard on a good tunnel hull and outrun these things.
I'd still take the big block chevy...
I took a ride in a ski boat with a 220 injected outboard on it with a speed prop, and it was crazy!
Yep. These things don’t move through the water as efficiently as a boat with an outboard. Prop drive is more effective at pushing through water

walking on the headers at 2:31. not recommended.
My first thought is this: It's only impressive if it will start.
I would have thought it you are at sea and critically dependent on the engine, you don't want it to take eight attempts to start.
Me too. I've seen boats like them have nothing but problems
