I am impressed! This young guy knows exactly what to do. Been taught well and smart enough to get it. I'd never trust a kid to start my boat on land but this one I would. Good Job!
Good job bud, I have two comments for you. 1. Sometimes if your primer bulb doesn’t get hard that indicates you have a sticking float in one of your carbs, or a bad primer so that’s something to keep in mind. 2. I have two of those engines on my boat and they both take a while to start spitting water out of the tell tale. Even after replacing my impellers. They always work better submerged in water.
@@TheKing-nu4fk Wrong. The mercury black max thermostats are before the tell tale.. So until warm nothing comes out. Plus that motor is notorious for weak stream. Mine almost never puts out water at the tell tale on muffs unless I have really good water hose pressure.
It sounds like yours isn't running on all cylinders, I would replace all the spark plugs, do a compression test to make sure that a cylinder dosent have low compression, make sure you don't have water in the gas, make sure your battery are charged
@@warrensoutdoors5964 wow. Thank you for the quick response. I really appreciate the advice. You could have to my boat usable. Another question. I find that my throttle is not smooth as it was. Pushing it to higher revs it's really really tight. Is this normal or is there something I can do to fix it
@@deepsynth3495 I would inspect the cable and if it is dirty clean it and oil it, and if it isn't dirty and just dry spay some sort of lubricant on it and that should fix your problem
Hi,Do you still have the boat?Im wondering if you could take a video of the steering setup near the engine.I have same setup i think but my engine has been of the boat for 3years.So im after some help.Id like to see where all the hoses goes etc.
Brother lol theres a trick to primer bulbs. I am a boat mechanic so what you want is ... See the arrow on the primer bulb, well point it up to the sky when priming. Try it compared to not pointing the arrow up when priming. Primes in half the squeezes.
I started it yesterday and I primed it with it laying horizontal at it primed fine and got hard, but I will try it next time I start it, thankyou for the suggestion.
And the reason for it not doing so is because the plumping connected to both telltales (there's also one on the lower unit) is connected after the thermostats in the block. Water won't reach before the thermostats open.
Great video. I am selling a used 1990 135 black max that I took off of an 18 ft. Sea Ray has low compression on cylinder 2. So probably needs a rebuild. If you or anyone you know would like one. All else is in working order. I am in Ohio

Thanks so much, that means alot, I have my grandpa to thank you all of my knowledge.
If you want to be impressed check out some of my other videos
This is where are love for boats was born. Listening to an old 2 stroke humming away in the driveway as a youth.
Well said very well said
Great Video, and great kids.
The common sense knowledge they are “figuring out” will help them through many technical challenges in life.
Keep it up!
Legend has it that the girl is still asking if it's time to turn on the hose.
Resisting the urge to make “priming” and “hard” jokes 😂
nice motor
does the fuel need to be oil mixed for the mercury 135hp engine?
Yes but the motor does it by its self
That motor has oil injection

Yeah I've noticed it pumps water better when it is in water and thankyou for the positive comments, go check out my newest video's on my channel
@@warrensoutdoors5964 for sure
That means your lower seals are bad. Should pump easily through muffs. If it pulls water better submerged replace your lower seals
I have the exact same motor…takes a while for stream to come out as well.

Mine makes the same sound in the beginning when he started it. But I cannot start mine at all. Any tips

The boat is in storage right now and it will be for about a nother month but once it comes out I will make a video on it
Hi Thanks for the reply.I hope to have it finished withing next two weeks so all good.Appreciate your offer.

i have this exact motor and it usually will take about 30 seconds to pump water. there is no problem there
Thankyou

Cool I'm in Sandusky Ohio. I'll swing by and bring 250 bucks
It is a older motor so it won't pump water right awat
@Joseph Banachoski it pumped water after I reved it
You need a impeller
@@bordstif84 no i dont
You shouldn't be using small circular muffs for engines this big, either use bigger muffs or preferably a big barrel of water to dip it in
those arent small they are big and they work perfectly fine
Those muffs are just fine for that outboard there is more then enough water making it to the water pump
Shouldn’t be playing with dad’s boat 🤦🏻♂️
It's not my dad's, and I had permission
