I just had my polygraph earlier this month and passed!! your videos not only prepared me, but gave one of the best pieces of advice throughout several of your videos. Just answer exactly what the question is, and your best moto "Be specific, don't elaborate." I had some minor marijuana use in CA after it was legalized, a kind of bad speeding ticket almost 10 years ago, and some other small things I was able to articulate using your advice. All I have left in my process is the Oral Board and the psych/med exams (:
Find an agency that doesn’t use the poly. I refuse to work for an agency that does. I was told I was being deceptive about smoking weed and drinking alcohol. I have never done either. I wasted 5 months of my time. The poly was the final step in the process. Where I work now doesn’t do polygraphs and what do you know, I got in without any issues.
@@armogantrainingI believe the purpose is to test consistency and make you second guess lying to them. Also a stress test. I don’t think it should be a disqualifying factor at all.
Where I am you can apply at 18 . I’m 19 almost 20 . When I was 16 I got my first job and I worked there for about 7 months I was fired bc I used my employee discount on peoples purchases occasionally to pocket a few bucks here and there . Overall to about 200 bucks . I was young and dumb and it was a stupid action . I was fired but they knew I wanted to be a cop one day and they didn’t want to ruin that chance so they gave me an option to pay all the money back and I did so they wouldn’t press charges and noting legos was ever involved . I payed every cent . It was a dumb dicesion and I regret it every day . Since then I graduated high school and I got a job and I’ve been the best version of myself I can be . I’m in college to get a criminal justice degree and I know I will be a great cop . When they do a background check it was still show I was fired for internal theft . Being it was my first job and I was 16 and it was a dumb mistake will I forever be instantly disqualified? All I’ve ever wanted to be is a cop and I’m gonna be so upset if a dumb mistake at 16 ruins that forever
It will absolutely not ruin your chances what so ever. You will be given a chance to explain yourself in an oral board, poly, or both. In your case it would be labeled as an “undetected” crime on your personal history statement. Basically a crime you were not caught/charged with committing (judicially.) Your circumstance was handled civilly i.e. paying back the money via verbal agreement with your employer. Your case is an absolute non issue. This shows you’re an honest person who owned up to their mistake. Sorry for the essay, just wanted to give you some confidence. You’ll be fine dude
What if I didn’t take anything and was completely truthful? They disqualified me after giving me a retest. Got reactions for drugs the first time and then employment history on the second. None of which I have any issues with. To me that just tells me how inaccurate this machine is. 6 months of work down the drain after being dropped with a 30 second phone call :/

I have heard similar stories about the polygraph, it does make you wonder about its effectiveness.

It does unfortunately happen.
What if you are not sure of the dates because it has been a long time
do everything you can to get at close as possible
A new scientific study showed that Polygraphs are only approximately 75% accurate.
