Getting out of my own way is my biggest issue and nights of lost sleep feeling so embarrassed due to the background. Even though I’ve never been arrested or been in trouble, him calling my ex wives and kids mothers knowing they won’t speak well of me, the anxiety thinking he will just take their words as who I am now and fail me is through the roof. Who I was then isn’t who I am now and it sucks I’m in the wait phase and can’t articulate it until I get my chance at the end. Definitely need to focus on the positive things and the good things people will say about me NOW not the negative years and years ago.
I feel like you’ll be OK in the end
They are dicks for calling your exes.

Thank you so much Steve for taking the time out of your day to talk with me and answer all my questions. You are a real one sir!!
He is one of the best in the world. We are glad to have him!!!!
Out of the 9 agencies I applied with 5 have said, “no thanks” and wouldn’t progress me to their initial interview after filling out either their full background questionnaire or a pre-questionnaire.
The remaining 4 agencies have offered me conditional offers and I had just been hired by one of them. I’ve learned through this hiring process that each agency wants a certain type of officer. What may not be a good fit at one place, others may be fighting over to hire you. Just have a no quit attitude. Your past sins are not a problem to someone.
Well said
Side note for all those applying with multiple agencies around them: don’t put all your eggs in basket. In other words, don’t be so content in getting into one specific police department. I know the application process can be long but once you did it the first time, you can quite easily have everything ready for when you apply at the other agencies since you already know what to do. Apply to as many as you can stand and move forward with whoever reaches out faster.
Don't apply to too many as well.
Frank, your depth of knowledge on this subject is truly impressive. It's clear that you have a profound understanding and expertise that not many possess. Your insights are invaluable and greatly appreciated!
Wow, thank you for the kind words! Really appreciated!
My concern at this point is that I am 31 years old, graduated with an associates degree in '23 and about to graduate with a ba this year, but not currently in the best shape and health and had several jobs throughout the years and was fired from my last one in September. I am currently doing 1099 work at this time. Beung a law enforcement officer had always been my dream career and I refuse to give up.
No way bro we are in the EXACT same situation right now the only difference is that I’m 30 instead of 31 but yeah I’ve been stressing this past month too about how serious they take employment history especially when a termination happened pretty recent but when it comes to credit, criminal, and education history everything is good like I’m hoping all those sectors could outweigh the employment history in the hiring process.

I used someone credit card I found at the bar while under the influence to buy myself and buddy a drink when I was 21 never did that ever again. I’m going on 25 soon. I checked the box on my polygraph for credit card fraud because that is considered fraud and put the explanation. Will this DQ me?
It could it really will depend on the specifics of the situation.
My biggest concern is just my previous traffic tickets. That’s a bummer that it might actually keep me from my calling
Time and distance make every hurdle smaller
I used a credit card that wasn’t mine to order something online. The item reached fedex and the item was sent back because the card holder disputed it. Does this count as credit card fraud?
Depends if you were authorized or not.
@@armogantraining I was not authorized, this was also 6 years ago
I heard they don’t check red light cameras because they can’t prove who was driving.
Not true
Hello, I will definitely be scheduling a call. I totally understand the embarrassment idea, and it is correct. I am 30 years old, have not been in trouble with the law in any way in about 10 years, and that was a speeding ticket. I did receive a DUI when I was 16, but that's 14 years ago and long been dealt with. However, I have fairly frequently used Marijuana illegally over the years. I have now quit, but as you said it is embarrassing especially to have to admit to police you've been getting away with a "crime" for a very long time. Any thoughts on this?
Time a distance make hurdles smaller, Marijuana still matters but not like it use to and it also depends on state and department.
@armogantraining7164 I've got my call scheduled for the 19th. Can't wait to talk to you about it. Right now I'm working on getting into tip top shape and putting time and distance between myself and the marijuana use. I'm in Florida. Marion County.
@armogantraining7164 a lot of the department websites say 1-2 years. So my plan is to give myself 6 months or so to get into shape, then self sponsor through the academy and graduate with 1+ year clean. I've also been preparing a list of departments near me. Your videos are not only helpful but inspirational. Thank you.
2 years ago, I was enrolled in a police academy and I was arrested and accused of mishandling my firearm, I was only charged with a class c misdemeanor though. I was fired from my department but I was acquitted at trial. Would this be a disqualifying action?
Not typically an immediate disqualification, but it depends on the specifics and how you explain them
Public intoxication, owi 1st offense. Eight and nine years ago, respectively. No history since then. Gave up drinking, married with 3 children working for the department of corrections now. Stay in corrections or try to get into law enforcement? Thanks
You got this let us know if you need any guidance

Hello thank you for your feedback it really helped a lot.
I have a question.
What about being arrested in high school and having a B misdemeanor, getting it dismissed and later got an expungement. Record clear. Will that affect getting hired at law enforcement? Police officer?
It will be discussed definitely
Is there a way where I can Send you screen shots of my personal history statement and see If I need to articulate my statements better or if you could tell me whats could be the factor of why I am getting marked off. I have been DQ from 2 departments so far.
That is reserved for our coaching members www.armoganct.com/Free-call
Hey Frank, over seven years ago, I had seven interactions in my 20s with the police and two of them were felonies and the rest were misdemeanors, and I had them all expunged and now I am currently serving in the National Guard and I haven’t been in trouble since then would I still be able to get hired as a police officer?
And I have a secret clearance now
Depends on the state and department really, id gonto a smaller department to start off with and then work your way up @@darrellterry8121
So it will depend on department and also if those felonies were convictions. I really feel based on what you're telling me you are misarticulating yourself jump on a free call so we can lock in the facts. www.armoganct.com/Free-call
You will be fine. Police hire criminals all the time. A dude with a security clearance will be ok
I only had two speeding tickets in my life. I was honest by saying have driven without insurance few times as well as lying on another police application and being truthful about drug use in the past on the other one. Will this DQ me never got arrested or criminally charged for anything
The lying on other applications is the big hurdle here!
@@armogantraining can it be overlook and still be given a chance I was just nervous I admitted my mistake and took full accountability.
@@armogantraining can i still be given a chance or will they asked me why I lied I already sent a re certification explaining the truth and be not being honest however taken full accountability I already pass the oral physical and submitted my phq
@@armogantraining can it be forgiven if I admitted my mistake and showed accountability. I don’t have anything on my record relatively clean driving record and no illegal convictions ever
Will a restraining order DQ me? It is suppose to expire within a year and no crimes committed and police were never involved.
Depends on the reason but it will definitely be a hurdle.
I work from home as a nail tech and I have not reported income to file taxes for 2 years. Will this disqualify me?
Depends if you are required to file
If I right it down on my application that I work from home as a Nail Tech but have not filled a 1099 for my taxes. I had my boyfriend use me as a dependent on his for the last two years. Will this come up and disqualify me?
If I took less than 10$ of beef while at the self check out at Walmart and then came back and turned myself in and paid for it(this happened 3 months ago) would that disqualify me?
it could sign up for a free coaching call and we can discuss the details www.armoganct.com/Free-call
When will you touch base on a psych background for articulating background issues?
We go into pretty long detail in our coaching programs and online course, but we have more psych video schedule in the future.
There’s not available times I had some questions on how to prepare for my oral interview next week June 12th
Instructor Coppedge is going to have some more dates open next week. Keep a look out! We have been booking up very quickly.
What about a charge from when I was seventeen years old. I was arrested for pushing my cousin and was placed on probation for failing a drug screen test at 17. Do I need to mention what occurred when I was a minor and will that disqualify me?
It will probably come up, but read your PHS questions carefully
Firearm issues like what explain more please
Any crime or incident involving firearms where the applicant mishandle them will work against you.
@armogantraining7164 what about it happened 11 years ago
What about dismissed/sealed records. Or even expunged convictions?
Itll be depend on the department. While. For example my department will hire if have a charge has been dismissed, overturn, not guilty. But will absolutely hire will not hire and will fire if any conviction of misdemeanor. Except if its involve traffic violations ( reckless speed, driving unregistered vehicle in a state that makes it an arrest )
@@Masterchief0397 so does a background show something has been expunged. And when a record is expunged, the order says that the person was never arrested, charged or convicted.
This depends on what the department ask for and the outcome of the events that occurred.
I would like to have consultation with you

What about shoplifting
Depends on how long ago
If I had a charge off on my credit at the time of the interview with my background Investigator, but after he finish with me and gave my paperwork to the review unit, I Noticed the charge off has fallen off of my credit report because its officially been 7years since the charge off so it no longer appears in none of the 3 major credit scores. Will this disqualify me or would I pass. Because its been about 2 months since he turned my paperwork to Review Unit and I still have not received any answer on If I passed backgrounds or not.
It's time to do a professional follow up let us know if you need assiatnace with it.
That doesn't matter. A charge off isn't a crime
If there’s a video of me punching someone will this disqualify me?
Depending on the context but it probably won't help.
Ok thank you for replying
What about an expungement from 10 years ago?
It was a wobbler in California but is considered a misdemeanor in Alaska. I work for the airport and cali vs ak argued where or not it was a felony offense. Ak said it's not. I was wanting to become an officer. But want to be honest yet not ruin my chance
I would need more detail sign up for a free coaching call and we can go over it. www.armoganct.com/Free-call
I know you can have an Other than Honorable discharge from the military with 2 DWI's, and plenty of police departments will hire you.
It will not look good in todays hiring, but depending on the conditions your right those are not immediately disqualifying
You have no days available 😔
