Sit down with someone who has experience sitting on interview panels and have them put you through a mock process. Video the whole thing to include the feedback . Take the video home and watch it several times to improve your performance. Don’t ramble is sage advise.

What are your opinions on this weakness statement. I have always been a procrastinator, I would always wait till last minute to do things. What I have learned to do to manage procrastinating over the years is to make a list at the beginning of the month. I make a list of my short term goals and long term goals. I look at and do my short term goals everyday and then I look at my long term and prioritize what I need to do first based off of deadlines. This has helped me stay in task and not procrastinate.

While I like the improvement you have stated here, remember we are asking what is your current weakness at this very point. Law enforcement has a significant amount of assignments and self reliance, you can see where I am going with this is I was your board interviewer. Then if you try to state that you have learned to manage and correct it, I would not consider it a weakness in your interview. Hope this helps if you want to run another one by me I be glad to look at it.

    Thoughts on these:
Strength: I am extremely self motivated, and in my experience at previous jobs and in sports, I have gone out of the way to learn more, and grow my understanding of that field. This way i can become excellent in whatever I'm putting my time into.
Weakness: I'm too self critical. Over the years I've noticed it more, but if I make a mistake I tend to be pretty hard on myself about it, and this has led to a bad self image at times.
Would you recommend for the weakness to spin it as a positive a little? say such as "This has allowed me to often refrain from making the same mistake twice" and such.
    Thanks!!!

Whenever there’s a problem or situation I am always trying to sort it out myself because I don’t like to rely on others to do it for me. I have to do it right myself or it’s not right at all.

Im 31, had a teoubled teenage life. As an adult ive been in no trouble. However, ive been smoking marijuana since i was 11 years old. During my teenage years and being homeless, i tried many things along the way and consider all of it a learning experience. Since ive been an adult, ive struggled with having my own home and have generally lived with other people. I dont plan on being this transparent if i were to do an interview, but what if i wanted to join CSI? Ive always wanted to be a detective, and i feel like im finally at a point in my life where things are structured enough that i could actually consider working on cases. Now that ive learned enough, i pretty much have given up on my dream to become a detective because im 31 and highly doubt i would be able to make it. However CSI seems possible for me to get in to. My weakness is that I naturally believe in what people say, so until I get conflicting information whether it be from another person or someone contradicting their previous statement(s), I tend to believe that. However, working with customers over the phones at my job, I have been able to pick up on hints of dishonesty (especially through recurring customers that have a history on falling behind with payments.) With people I work with face-to-face on a day-to-day basis, I have been able to pick up on subtle habitual tendencies that may stretch the truth to enhance the situation to the level of their emotion. So, although I find people believable as my weakness, I do my best to stay alert for any red flags that arise.
