What a cracking demo.! Thanks to this, after 2 minutes of head scratching and reverting to tube I have just repaired the exact same problem with my C260 without any fuss. Thetford manual is cr**p. Well done you. If you use a thin blade to carefully remove the flexible top cover from around the edges, it can be done without any damage.
Brilliant. I had worked out it was most likely the pump and thought I needed to buy a new one. Then saw this video and exactly as he showed it just needed the impeller freeing up. Great job!😃
I have now needed to make this fix twice and used this video both times. Thanks Dan. It seems to happen when the flush tank has been completely empty for a few weeks.
2nd time ours has stopped working, searched high and low for a fuse to check. Ended up buying a new pump. Thanks to this video, I've just solved the issue myself. Simple, clear & effective instructions. Thanks
Great video Dan and very helpful. Just had the same situation happen in our Bailey. Flush packed up, followed your instructions and found the impeller stuck solid. After some gentle persuasion with a screwdriver and some needle nose pincers, the pump whirred into life (and yes, I gave it a rev as well).
Many thanks for the advice and saved me potentially a trip to the dealer. As a precautionary measure, I’ve drained the tank of pink fluid and just using water from now on.

Dan, I watched and implemented your strategy and in under ten minutes flush heaven was restored. The year of manufacture of my pump was 2018 so plenty of time to build up gunk. We had the caravan delivered Wednesday, so this was clearly not checked..BIG dealer too. When the pump operated they'd put blue in the flush tank.

I have watched a few of your videos and have found them to be very helpful thanks. In particular this one relating to the Impeller in the cistern being jammed. I was looking for a blown fuse, also didn’t know how to access the pump so I owe you big time, keep up the great videos.

Excellent video, showed me where the pump is hidden and how to access same. My pump was stuck but to add to the problem my caravan had been feeling unloved as we had not been able to take it out this year because of 'social distancing issues in Ireland. The plug and circuit board interface was corroded - - - - - a needle file clean up of the contacts restored power then I discovered that the pump would not spin. I cleaned off the black gang, rotated the impeller by hand (it was stiff), replaced the 10-amp supply fuse that bust when I accidently shorted the power and now all is well, I pumped 8 litres of water into the toilet to give the system a workout. All is well now, thank you for posting a very helpful video.

I know you’re video is 4 years old but I’ve just arrived at Rookesbury Park 3/06/24 and the flush doesn’t work, your video was absolutely priceless and I fixed it in no time, thanks so much for your brilliant efforts, I bet the service workshop would’ve charged me at least £100 to sort this out👍
Dan, this is another superb video and and saved me around £50! We got our caravan out recently for the first time this season and on doing the usual checks, found the toilet pump not working. I checked the connections and all were intact, so as the caravan is 8 years old and we'd never had an issue with the pump before, I assumed it had reached the end of it's life. I check on your channel resulted in finding this video. I was able to follow easily and sure enough, I was able to fix the problem with no expense. Thanks for help once again and keep up the good work. You really make a difference.

My pump stopped working on my year old van. Thought I’d need to wait till its next service in the Spring to get it looked at as it’s under warranty. With this tutorial I may have a go at fixing it myself. Thank you. Very helpful.

Thanks, all I needed, practical experience and help, marvellous. I hunted for the non-existent fuse, I put a meter on every wire in sight, I bought a new pcb, I followed every other bit of advice I could find on t’interweb, I wasted a whole weekend trying to get the C206 flushing and then along came the Trudgians - sorted. Next time I’ll check everything works before we go off on the first outing of the year. Thanks.

I wouldn't even think about peeling that off.
I am using green Elsan liquid, and I noticed crystals at the bottom of the watering can that I use to fill the system. They must have formed in the pump too.

Brilliant advice which helped me get mine fixed after arriving on a site. I did have a slight disaster though. When I pulled the pump out I didn't notice that the hose to the bowl came off in the tank. This meant the bowl filled with flush fluid which I didn't notice as the lid was down. Of course, then I pulled the soil tank out. The resulting sunami was quite spectacular!
Hopefully my warning will help others avoid this.
I was about to order a new pump, when I found this video. I checked the impeller on our faulty pump, and sure enough, it was just jammed.

According to our caravan manual we have a C250 fitted..... No it is a C260 and had the same problem with the pump and as others have pointed out the Thetford manual is not very good (me being polite). However, looking at this video I took the plunge and removed the sticky label and low and behold, I found the pump exactly as your video shows............ Did exactly as you did and refitted it all and even the sticky label has gone back as it should. Well done, for this very informative and precise instructions on how to free off a siezed flush pump. It seems to flush a lot better as well.

Thanks, good video and helpful with my pump, found the impeller stuck freed off with a screwdriver and fully working again.
Guess the issues may have been the tank was dry for 3 months causing the dry shaft to stick within the pump casing.
Will order a new pump as a spare for the future.

Hi, thanks for posting this, gave us the confidence to fix our own toilet pump as it’s been backwards and forwards to the dealership to try and fix an intermittent problem (along with other issues) that never occurs when they have it! It was exactly like yours - jammed up by something but now free and pumping happily. Bring on the holidays 😊

Thanks so much Dan ! Just went on holidays and after following your tutorial nailed it the prop was starting to corrode because the caravan sits with no water installed just time we don't use it. So I just a flat head worked it loose and then added some cooking oil to the shaft popped it back and don't forgot the hose attaches to the outlet thanks heaps again 🙏🙏

First trip this season and the toilet wouldn't flush. Drained flush water before the winter and the rinse liquid left behind crystallised and jammed the impeller. After seeing your video I had the thing working in about 15 minutes. Maybe next time I won’t completely drain the tank so it keeps it wet, maybe? Thanks very much for the video. Thanks for the video Dan. I had to do this on Wednesday night as our flush wasn’t working. I followed your video and did exactly what you did however the pump worked when I had it out of the housing but failed again once I had put it back in. £52 later and I fitted a replacement pump which also failed to work 🙈. Must have a loose connection somewhere. 🙈
Excellent video, saved a lot of head scratching. With your advice I was able to identify and mend my blocked up pump in about five minutes.
With all the comments on this problem it might be a good idea for Thetford to design an 'anti-clog' water pump. Here's hoping!!

Think I understand why you decided to make the repair yourself, owing to lead time for a dealer to make the repair. After a very minor collision during refilling, resulting in the need to replace the front skirt and battery box ( only the hinge was damaged). I’ve waited 3 months for my dealer to receive the parts. It’s a 2019 van so parts should have been easily available. This was my very first refuelling experience, so As you might expect it’s made me very nervous. How about a bit of advice during one of your new coffee and cake segments regarding refuelling, I’m sure I’m not the only novice terrified of taking the van into a service station. Brilliant info for accessing the pump ( I was looking all over for a way in 😁 ) miine turned out to be a different problem, I noticed the contacts on the circuit board were corroded and needed cleaning. When I pushed the connectors back on it worked perfectly again. Thanks so much.

Good tip on the light ficker...Great to see where the 260 C pump is located ,,, I had a similar issue with the 250C ..which is located under neath . Other issue I found ,, reed switch on the small pcb at the back of the cassette cupboard to be corroded and one leg lifted.

A very easy and quick fix Dan. Another way of telling the difference between the 250 from the 260 is by looking at the blue flush button. The older C250 discontinued by the end of 2011 has a larger blue flush button, twice the size of the C260. Thanks for the video. Rob
Thanks for the video. My one is just won't stop running once power on. took the PCB out, opened it and disconnected all plugs, put it back, it's still running, no stop, just like the little switch is sticky points. anyway, it's fixed!

Dan, I've had this very problem with the Thetford C2 on my 1994 Lunar Planet Saturn. Unfortunately, I had to replace the pump and I found a band new Thetford pump on Amazon. The repair is featured in Part 24 of my caravan videos.

I have this problem of the impeller shaft sticking at the start of the season. I think the remaining fluid at the end of season gels a bit and partially seizes the impeller. I take mine apart at the beginning of the year and twist the impeller gently with needle nose pliers. It continues to work all year. This year at the end of season I'll fill my flush tank half full with plain water and flush it through. I have a feeling that will stop the impeller sticking. Thanks for posting. Hi Dan,
Thanks a lot for a quick and easy solution to the problem with the waterpump. To prevent the buildup of calcium in your pump you can fill the watertank with a diluted solution of a vinegar/ water mix. Leave it overnight in the tank and it will dissolve any scaling within the pump. Alternately you can submerge just the pump into a glas or bowl with the vinegar/water solution overnight. Works just die same.
