I find that some DK yarns are thinner than others. These squares were made using a mix of Stylecraft Special DK and Hayfield Bonus DK that do come out a little thicker than DK yarn made from natural fibres like cotton. I often go down to a 3.5mm or 3.75mm hook for the slightly thinner DK yarns

I was planning to do the mandala madness years ago after I finished my Sophie’s universe but I’ve found I don’t use busy intricate blankets so ended up starting a simpler blanket instead. It looks like a lot of fun though - enjoy!

i don't understand what yarn you used since my skeins are dk, but they like much lighter than yours.... so my size will be off i assume

Go for it! It’s such a fun project and each square feels like starting a new project so it’s hard to get bored of it
I didn't want to repeat squares either. I get bored very easily so this type of blanket provides the variety that I need. Good luck with yours.
