RETURN to the WORST YARD on YouTube! Tall grass cutting Australia

  • I challenge anyone to post a link to a yard which was in a worse state than this one when I first arrived in September 2021. I would genuinely like to see that, as I love watching these types of videos :)
The background to this one... My awesome Patreon supporters, coupled with the revenue I receive from videos enable me to give back to my community, and this time it was for an elderly gent who hasn't been able to do yard work in quite some time!

Hi friends, thanks for the continued support!
People often ask how they can help me with my work, but can't commit to a Patreon subscription. Watching and sharing my videos is more than enough of a contribution, however if you are someone who would like to help fund one of my 'free' clean up jobs without signing up to anything, I now have a 'Buy Me a Coffee' page. You can donate $5 or more if this is something which interests you :) www.buymeacoffee.com/bladematelL
    Kind regards

The fact you came back probably made a bigger impression on this old fellow.
You commented on the grass returning but you were a breath of fresh air to the whole property.
Some of the garden even had the cheek to flower in such a short time.
All those treasured memories of a lifetime are being preserved.
    Thanks Sean.

This scenario brings back a memory or two of my grandfather when he reached a point and slowly couldn't achieve what he always use to do. Luckily we lived few suburbs away and on fortnightly weekends my youngest brother and I were drafted to maintain the yard area. Slave labour under 16 but was paid well in minties oatmeal cookies dry ginger ales and family history lessons.
Looking back it was at the time tedious to a child but was the best bonding time I had ever had with him

With all the different levels and beds that have purposely constructed over the years that garden was obviously the gentleman's pride and joy. To be still living in the same house that he's lived in for 80yrs he can probably remember building each and every path and bed when he was in his 20's, 30's, 40's etc and it much be such a blessing for him to see his previous hard work emerging into the light even though now he's at a stage in life he physically can't maintain it himself. Someone living on the West Coast of Australia is approximately 4000 kilometers from him. Just how small do you think "the whole of Australia" is? We have a population of under 24 million people spread out over 7.692 square kilometers compared to the USA with a contiguous land area of 7.663 square kilometers. Yes we're an island but a HUGE island with a mostly sparse population except for our State Capitals.

I can see that the homeowner at one time loved working on his garden projects and loves plants. I do too and as I get older and can't work as hard outside as I would like, I am blessed to have someone come and straighten things out. Afterward, I get to walk around and just enjoy my gardens without having to suffer the regret or guilt for not getting things done. So true and I regularly mowed the lawns of the rental property for the old couple on my street that owned the rental property when she was caring for her terminally ill husband a couple of years ago and even cleaned up around their house.

It appears as if you have opened up his life for his friends and family to call on him easier. You've opened the pathways and cleaned all the debris away, and did a fantastic job to boot! Now should he need any outdoor work done on his home, he doesn't have to be worried about what is in the way of that. And the neighbors, who could have helped, now won't have as many mice, spiders, etc in their house either. The elderly did their work. Much more than the punks today who refuse to lift a finger or even see a need. You fail to take care of the elderly, you lose sense of what is right in this world. You're a good man!

I don’t know about in Australia, but in the US there are tons of junk haul places, some one-shop one-truck operations, all the way to regional and national franchises. The one we used took nearly an entire apartment’s worth of furniture for about $200 over two trips (it would have been one trip but we kept a few things the first time around that we ended up getting rid of anyway soon after). They took two dressers, two nightstands, three desks, a queen mattress and box-spring, a small dining table and three chairs, two computer chairs, an entertainment center, four large bookcases, and a lot of random small items. I wish more people here used such services. Too many just dump their giant crap by the sidewalk thinking the trash collectors will take it, but an entire couch doesn’t fit in the compactor opening of a garbage truck. Then it just sits on the sidewalk for months at a time before finally being dealt with by the city which gives the property owner a hefty fine.

It always amazes me how nature can regenerate. The owner was obviously proud of his yard, but unfortunately we all get older & unable to keep up the maintenance. Thank you for taking care of him & sharing with us. I’m still trying to get the Sthil mini chain saw but no one has it in stock until next year. I imagine they are in a container in some port waiting to be offloaded. Keep up the good work & the great videos 👍🇨🇦

That yard is going to come up a treat. All the rain and humidity this summer seems to be throwing at us, will see that lawn (the grass) go mad. True the vines and creepers will still be present, but the place will look amazing come the end of summer. Well done Sir, you got to it in time!

The yard is slowly coming back. That house probably was very pretty back in the day. You can see somebody took pains in doing the landscaping. I sort of wish that backyard fence would just fall over and be hauled out. I think if you sneezed on it, it would probably fall over. Yet another beautiful job Sean !! Thank you for your kindness.

I can only imagine how beautiful the landscaping would've looked back in this yards heyday. It must have been a real beauty. You can tell that many flowers, bulbs, bushes, shrubs and perennials were lovingly planted many years ago with thought and planning. Poor fella just can no longer manage it anymore. I know he is very thankful for your help! Thanks for the update and may God continue to bless you and allow you to keep doing these types of jobs.

Wow! The yard looks so much better now and such a quick job in comparison to the marathon you did originally. It's great to see. I wonder if the local Lions Club or Rotary Club would help with the fence? The whole street should pitch in and help given that you have probably raised the value in their houses just by mowing this gentleman's yard. Job well done!

So happy to see the yard again after 6 wks. I knew with your weather and coming into your summer these yards would be looking great in no time. This one proves that and doesn't all at the same time. Better in some places than I thought and still sparse in others. LOL. This update shows exactly how much work this yard takes just to maintain it and how fast it can get out of hand. Keeping in mind this is from a near dead state vs a regularly maintained healthy state. This yard never ceases to amaze. WOW. 👍👍👍👍👍

Great to see an "old school" Aussie backyard, most of them are subdivided up now. Room enough for a decent game of footy in the winter and cricket in summer. Still lots of potential wins in this one but I'd love to see how long it takes the grass to overtake the Ivy and the Nasturtiums.

Sean, the initial transformation was astounding because of all the work you did just to get the yard to a state in which it could be managed and those videos were just brilliant! I am tremendously happy that you went back again. There is such a difference between the brown that was left directly after the initial taming of the yard. This yard is looking amazing. I know it isn't yet perfect but OMG its coming along in an awesome way! You have done a phenomenal job with this. Will you continue to care for this yard? I hope so! I have no doubt that with your continued care this yard will become something others in the neighborhood look forward to seeing. The potential this yard has with your care is absolutely endless. I am so glad you went back and that we were able to see how much progress it has made. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! THIS WAS SOME SPICY SWEET AWESOME SAUCE! ❤❤❤

Thanks for continuing to help this homeowner - you really do have a big heart. Still wish there was someone like you in the house painting business who was also willing to help people who are struggling. I worry a little about this person's safety as the exterior of the house continues to deteriorate. Looking at the hole created by the boards sticking out I can't help but wonder what creatures have crawled in there.
