What a smart but cheeky crow.
Haha yeah. The way it looks kinda enthusiastic after Sara asks, "are you smart?" makes me laugh 😆
@@BritHikesOntario That part made me laugh as well 🤣 😂
Thanks so much for sharing another wonderful video like always and taking us with you in more awesome adventures 🐦👌👍🤗
Thank you Miguel!
The Tijuana River Estuary is one of the last remaining salt marshes in Southern California. It was previously the site of a city dump, and those wooden trestles supported sewage and storm drain pipes from the city of Imperial Beach, that emptied right into the estuary. In the 1970s and 80s a land developer tried to purchase the land, open it to the Pacific Ocean and dredge it for a luxury yacht club. A successful activist campaign prevented the marsh from being demolished. The remaining marsh land is now under protection of the US Fish & Wildlife, California State Parks, NOAA and the United States Navy. The navy has a large active military base 8 miles north and its airspace is busy with both military, civilian and commercial aircraft landing at nearby San Diego Airport. In order to remain mission ready the navy brings their helicopters, UAV Drones and other aircraft to Imperial Bach practice area .
congrats on the lifers!, I hope you guys got to see something extra special in the later section of your trip, best of luck!
Thanks Malcolm, only 2 or 3 more vids from Cali left to go (phew... so much editing), so we will have to see 😉😁
That Allen’s HB 😍
The helicopters fly around the Tijuana NWR almost every day from around 9:00 AM to dark. I assume they are on training missions for the navy from the neighboring base. I always make sure to visit there early in the morning to avoid that.
Haha noted. I didn't actually think they were focused on me, but good to know the morning is a more peaceful time. Thanks for watching 👍
Another Great video. I really love those colourful Western Tanager's. Keep up the great work and try not to get arrested by the border patrol hahaha
Yeah that's one of the birds I will miss... until next time lol.
Thanks for the encouraging comment 😊
Another really wonderful video. I think the bird pictured at 7:14 is actually a female Bushtit rather than a Wrentit. The two can be very similar looking, especially if you don’t have the benefit of behavior and vocalizations to help distinguish them.
I actually debated over that bird. You're right about Bushtit and I should have stuck with it! I remember hearing them. Foiled by a female again 😉
Thanks for the comment 👍
helicopters are omnipresent in california. btw, what locals call the ho chi minh trail was close by on the coast. take caution next time.
Hey, thanks for watching. I looked up the trail, some pretty impressive views of the cliff faces from the beach.
Very nice!
Border Patrol in the skies lol, they would be watching everyone and everything I wouldn’t live near there if was paid to.
Haha. There's a few houses on the edge of the estuary which are close to being under the flight path. Must have good soundproofing!
