The other 2 chicks didn't survive, my heart's broken.

You'd think that these geese would rethink their nesting situation.
There's a lot of insane survival strategies in the World, but this has to be one of the most brutal, just get hatched, drop 200 meters, fight off ravens and roll in ice until you hit a rock to stop.
Happy one of them survived, hope it reach adulthood. I so admire the parents for their love and effort to keep their DNA going..
Except not enough effort to keep their DNA going by just watching their chicks potentially fall to their doom. I wonder if they're physically incapable of carrying their chicks one by one on their backs and lowering them down.
Put some respect on that 3rd chick. It saw its siblings die and still jumped that 400ft rock down.

What this is, is a very great showcase of how "size" matters a lot when you drop from a very high point. Kurzgesagt made a video about it, explaining in detail how something that's very small can be practically immune to any fall damage.
It's not size, doofy, its weight. You need someone explaining such simple fears of physics and biology?
Smaller, lighter bodies mean smaller impact which means smaller absorbtion. If a human drops 2 meters into a lake you'll get a splash. If an elegant does you get half the lake displaced.

@Informed Optimist I suppose if you want to keep the human race small and at the mercy of the "Current" ecological balance. Since it is ever-changing. But were not mere animals in the same sense a dog is, as we can achieve quite a bit more. But if were going to keep going forward we just need to learn to control what we can't currently. If that requires taking two steps back to jump I'm fine with that. But not to regress or be complacent to have no impact. 99% of species to live on earth are extinct with no help from humans. It's how life works, things change. I say we make sure we don't end up on the list, because we can. But let's not delude ourselves into thinking that humans are the only ones who impact our enviroment, everything does, and it would continue to change without us here.
