I don’t see a loser. I see an honest, self aware dude with very little ego who has made something of himself. All those life experiences led him to where he is today. Have to fail to succeed. Good shit.

I love that even when his biggest break at the time was SNL, he had enough integrity to stand by what he said in the past and hold his ground. It takes balls to say “no I’m not saving my career like that” and “you’re gonna have to fire me”. Man, Shane's story is even more inspiring than I thought and I knew most of those information. A double-comeback story. First he hits a low after highschool and makes a comeback by becoming a pretty successful up-and-coming comedian and then he loses SNL and hits another low and then makes ANOTHER comeback and becomes of the biggest comedians of all TIME. Love it. Can't believe I didn't like him at first, before I actually heard and saw his comedy.

We live in a time where everyone pretends they’re perfect in public. We make the mistake of attacking those who make mistakes and shaming them. Do we no longer forgive? Are we all gonna pretend we have never made a mistake aswell? Good story of retribution. We need to learn as a society that forgiveness is what ends racism not condemnation

Not asking this to be an asshat. Did you mean Good stoy of Redemption? If it was 100% agree. Shane didn't need SNLbut I think that the Trolls that tried to cancel him ultimately might have been good for him because it gave him the chance to explain in his own words acknowledges hes made some mistakes but never intend to cause offence and would personally apologize to anyone who was, refused to let those define who he is as a person or comedian

This dude is literally the white version of me. I’m 6’3” & biggest I’ve ever been was around 300Lb. Got kicked off the football team in high school for smoking & never tried out again. Early 20s I considered joining the military but the idea of getting up early to run several miles & having people screaming in my face killed it for me. I did open mic around Minneapolis & St. Paul but really it was an excuse to go out, get drunk & tell lame jokes. It’s very inspiring to see someone from similar circumstances turn a life of quitting into a success story. Hope to be where you are someday brother!

You can audibly hear in his voice as the pod hits around the time he gets SNL, riding so fucking high getting it, to the next eps him sad as hell, describing sneaking up from his parents basement in the middle of the night getting milk fat off late night cereal binges, all the while he hopes Phil doesn't come out and catch him.

I believe theres an argument for Shane Gillis being one of the most important comedians of the new generation. Similar to how Rogan changed the atmosphere of the comedy store and paved the way for stand up in podcasting, Shanes origin story is a reminder that comedy is and always will be the ultimate platform for free speech and self expression. Im not arguing that shanes gonna be the best comic, but his influence will be vital.

Only thing I genuinely worry for of Shane is his proclivity for laziness. Dude has a track-record of relying on his natural talent instead of working really hard at something. Lol from football to the army to whatever else. But, he is genuinely one of the top 5 funniest comedians right now, so his natural abilities might be enough. His intelligence is also really really underrated
