John, I just wanted to thank you so much for this incredible recipe. We have been making our own homemade breads now for well over 4 years. We haven't bought a a roll nor loaf of bread from a Supermarket since. My Hubby really loves seeded wholemeal loaves and I hadn't found a recipe that I was happy with.....until your video came along. I made 2 loaves of this bread the other day and they truly turned out absolutely incredibly. I did tinker a wee bit with the recipe, as my Hubby stopped eating anything with sugar in it (even natural sugars like honey) years ago but he doesn't mind a "wee bit" to feed the yeast in his bread. But honestly, this recipe is THE BEST wholemeal seeded bread recipe I have ever tried......and after all these years of baking bread, I've tried a few awful recipes in my time, teehee. We were so surprised at how light and fluffy the bread is for a wholemeal loaf and it stays so fresh for days and days. It didn't dry out at all and my Hubby was even delighted to eat it without butter as he said it wasn't needed..........but as an Irish woman with fantastic Irish butter on her doorstep......I had to use butter.....it would be rude not too, teehee. But that was just personal preference. Honestly, this bread is so delicious. And it freezes so well too. It's been added to my weekly bread making repertoire. A massive thank you again John. Lee :)

Nice recipe, thank you. I often make soda bread with a seed mix on the outer surface. However, as the soda bread needs to go into the oven as soon as it is kneaded, I butter the tin quite heavily, make sure the seeds mix stick on the buttered tin, then put the dough in the tin, score and bake immediately. I get same result. :)

I made this today with your recipe, and wow! Was it ever good! It worked out absolutely perfectly. The way you explain how to do recipes and the way you write your recipes down makes it sooooo easy to understand and the results are always satisfying. I’ve wanted to make a seeded bread for the longest time and your video was the recipe that inspired me. Now I can add this to my repertoire of bread recipes I know how to bake. Thank you, John! Always! 🎉
Omg I made this yesterday and when I say stunning I'm understating it. Its so tasty and soft and with my new home-made butter ( thanks John ?) Makes it the perfect snack or sandwich.

Hello John, hope you and your family are well. I love your channel, it's my go to channel for baking, I've purchased some things from you too, which have served me well. I'm going to make this wonderful loaf, but before I do, I wondered why the total flour weight is only 380g for a standard 2lb loaf tin. I would rather make a larger loaf with a total flour weight of 500g. I can recalculate the recipe, but if for what ever reason this type of loaf requires less flour, I will stick to your recipe. Your help would be extreemly appreciated. Keep up the excellent tutorials, you are one of the best teachers on TH-cam and your receipes are spot on!
John, you are a complete master! 👏👏😘😘 This loaf is a must make, and thank you for your wonderful videos, always so informative and entertaining! Kind regards, Rob.

I have a recipe for a sticky date loaf that says to use a 2lb tin. My loaf tin only has measurements in cm and inches marked on it so I didn't know if it was the right size. I do now thanks to your video. 😁 My son bought me the cake cutters and pie tins from your Meat n Potato pies video for Xmas. The cutters are already coming in very useful. 😁😁
I've been willing to bake this one for a while, finally saved some time for it and its really easy! Anyone should try this one! Better than anything you could buy on the supermarket and I believe it would work if you add some nuts in it as well, I'll try this next time!

Check out " Bake with Jack" because I'm pretty sure he goes into hydration in one of his videos. Theres another couple of posters who go into it in depth but too much knowledge for me to absorb.
John, I’ve tried your recipes and you are spot in when saying they are perfection. I need some help to make old fashioned raisin bread. My grandmother made it. Oats and molasses… cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves…raisins. It was the best I’ve ever eaten!!!! I have the recipie here from her book but after trying several times, it doesn’t rise to light airy texture and is heavy as a stone…. You’re a baker and probably could help me sort this? Maybe print a recipie like that on the site for everyone? Please help!!!!!🥰❤️🇨🇦👍🏼

Nice one John. 👍 It's a Wheatmeal loaf though. Wholemeal (in the U.K.) means 100% of Wholemeal flour. Wheatmeal is the term used for a bread which has white flour in it too. It's an important distinction lest folk confuse the two on supermarket shelves. It is all getting a little confused these days by American Bakers. The U.S. has no convention (food regulations) on this. Small matter. I hope you don't mind me mentioning it. Great video and a lovely loaf.

Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes, and most of all for advice. I was struggling along to make any sort of yeast bread- turns out my yeast really was half dead! A victim of supply chain delays I suppose, though it was within the date stamped on the bottle. I'm going to see how hard it is to order the skeleton gloves and more! Happy New Year, John!

Hey John! I'm back again. I was looking for a mixed grain bread baked in a rectangular loaf pan. And...here you are with another amazing recipe! My question is, I only have bread flour that is 12.7%. All Purpose white at 11.7% & whole wheat flour. I have no spelt or rye. How should I break this into 2 flours only as I do not want a dense loaf of bread? It's my mother's 87th birthday this week and she loves multi grain nut bread. So this will be a surprise for her. As always, thank you so much. And I LOVE my skeleton gloves and other items i ordered from your store. Now, when my timer goes off, my husband says John is calling! Lol

My hubby is addicted to the basic 🥪 bread recipe I learned from you..I mean I think he has a problem..he was so upset I gave a loaf away...lol😂 I will drop this loaf on him and just keep creating a Bread Head..lol😅

As always, John, superb video and easy instructions!

I can't see why not Denis as long as you recalculate the rest of the ingredients, but not the yeast, I would keep thet the same.
Thanks John for your advise. Can't wait to try the recipe!@@JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade

Try adding wheat gluten - I make a 100% whole wheat bread ( no white flour) that rises perfectly and is light, not dense.

It might be over proofing.

Nice one John. 👍
It's a Wheatmeal loaf though.

Lol
