I think Russian is the most terrifying by far. Sounds so utterly cold, merciless, and powerful. Someone you'd be horrified to find out is your father, and absolutely petrified to face in battle.
I disagree with everyone here. I think the Russian delivery of that line is entirely too robotic. A cyborg is both machine and human. In all the other languages, you can really hear the human coming through in that line. Frankly, I think the Russian voice acting was the worst one. It's a shame because Russian can be such an evocative language.

The German one sounds like Mark Hamill & James Earl Jones are speaking German themselves.
They doing a fantastic job in Germany when it comes to dubbing movies and TV shows. It's a huge industry with all of them being real actors, not just some casual dudes dubbing movies. I'm always surprised by their quality.

@@atariks1475 That's a not really what it is like. In fact it's just that most of the german professional voice actors happen to be screen actors as well. That's also why we actually don't have many good ones and are limited to very few when it comes to dubbing, since screen acting nets you in way more money when your face is seen on screen and then there's also the aspect that their work is rarely properly honored, sometimes credits of a movie or video game don't even show the names of the voice actors.
It's a hard and stressful job that gains you not much, you usually can only afford to do when you've already gained some reputation / money and is drastically underappreciated.

1__ German, that has even an Evilness in the voice which even James Earl Jones doesn't have

I like the original english version, but as an italian, I have to admit the italian dubbers made a wonderful job. So much expressiveness and pathos, especially in Luke´s voice. I also think the German dubbed version works really well.
Hearing the Italian version of Luke scream "NOOOO! Nooo!" legitimately gave me chills. It was so damn good.

Trust me on one thing.... there are some good ones, but quite a lot of awful ones as well.

Sometimes they pay the money for a good voice actor in a Game. But mostly it's just a guy.
In Civilizations IV for an example it was the man who speaks Commander Adama from the New Battlestar Galactica series.
In a other Game it was the german voice of Donald Sutherland.
On th other hand, they don't pay the money for the guest voices at the Simpsons. They take just a cheaper guy.
Fox Mulder and Dana Scully and Mel Gibson are the only voice actors, I can remember, who are the real ones.

Then again there are cases where the dub is so awful I refuse the German version altogether. Same goes for games.
For some odd reason, I found that german dubs of french movies are the worst. They never work for some reason. If you watch "La Mante" in German you'll see what I mean.

The Italian, German , English amd Portuguese versions are perfect!!! Both of these versions capture the emotions of each character... I'm sad thre is no French dub in the video, it would be impressive to see
As an italian I can tell you that the voice acting industry is quite big and important here, voice actors are highly regarded, even tho i still prefer the original dubbing of a movie, the Italian dubbing is generally quite high level. The complain i have about italian dubbing is usually the adaptation or the voice choice, that even tho they might be really well delivered per sé, they might be a little transformative compared to the original one, changing the meaning too much.

@@shitmultiverse1404 True. Also, the quality has been degrading in the more recent years, compared to historical dubs from the 70s-80s-90s. That's partly due to some iconic voice actors passing away, sadly, but also, speaking with professional voice actors that used to work on historic anime series, I've learnt the production is way less curated nowadays. They have stricter budgets and, consequently, stricter times. They used to take months to dub a movie, now it's made in a few weeks, with way fewer takes.

The problem is that almost all Ukrainians know Russian so there’s no reason to waste money for additional dub if Russian exist. So even if Ukrainian dub exist it’s quite cheap
I think it's just an old dub when people would just say lines over the original voiceover. This thing is not common anymore. Well, if we talk movies. TV-series and anime are still pretty much get voiceovers rather than proper dubs.
Popinguj I’m not sure about that. This Ukrainian dub sounds quite new. Anyway maybe there is a proper Ukrainian dub but it’s just not showed here. I make this assumption because Russian dub here is just one (and not the latest one) of three official dubs (impossible to count unofficial dubs which were made in 90s), so let’s hope Ukrainian branch of Disney took care of proper dub

0:39 German (Vader is so menacing and absolute and sovereign in his words. The horror, denial, and pain in Luke's voice, the VAs are so good as Luke and Vader. It also sounds so close to the original what the hell, it's great.)
7:38 Chinese (The twisted, sadistic smile in Vader's voice when he tells Luke he is his father? Chills. The utter agony in Luke's voice? Tears. This is his worst nightmare incarnate, you can hear how shattered he is, especially at the beginning. Major props to both VAs.)
1:56 Russian (Vader sounds so robotic and cold in a way that sounds inhuman. Luke is full on sobbing, oh my God it's so heart-wrenching. In his voice you can hear the thought/emotion of, "How could I have come from such a monster?")
2:32 Italian (Vader sounds so human and genuine, just a father speaking to his son. Luke is so grieved, which is so appropriate. Darth Vader is his father and then hearing this same man speak so sincerely with him . . . that would no doubt fuck with his head so much.)
3:10 Japanese (Vader sounds so proud to claim Luke as his son, and you can really hear the "I can't wait to mentor this kid" in his tone. Luke sounds like such a teenage protagonist, in the best way possible -- so naive and full of spirit, and emotionally open/honest and vulnerable. Great acting from both VAs, I love their anime spin on it it's so good!)

In Russia we have 3 Russian dubs. This is second dub made by ORT (The First Channel-Первый канал). The first was made in 1990, in USSR by MosFilm studio. The third, and final dub was made by Central Partnership.

Es mag dir vielleicht so vorkommen, da englisch einerseits eine sehr leichte Sprache ist und andererseits viele englische Wörter ins deutsche übernommen wurden

The Czech (Bohumil Švarc, R.I.P) version gives me still very strong goose bumps and chills. Vader's voice is absolutely terrifying. There is no escape.

It was "No Luke, I am your father". And then they changed it in 1995.
Fun fact: In Hungary, Episode 5 was the first dubbed Star Wars movie in 1982. In this video, you can hear that version. Episode 4 was first dubbed in 1984, while episode 6 was in 1992. In each movie, most of the characters had different voice actors. In 1995, the whole trilogy got a new dubbing, with another set of voice actors throughout the 3 movies. In 1997, when the Special Edition came out, Lucas wanted a completely new dubbing for the trilogy. Most of the voice actors were the same as in the '95 version, with a few alterations.

I miss the Spanish version of Spain ... the Spanish version shown here is the Latin American version.
The Spanish version of Spain, where Vader is played by the late Constantino Romero, who was recognized by George Lucas as one of the best Vaders dubbers.
It's strange, growing up being used to the German Vader and his speeches - which sound openly hostile and emotional on many occasions, even for a native speaker - and compare it to the relatively calm English 'main' version. And everyone else's completely losing their minds about how he sounds in German.
