Very useful information and we appreciate it. How do I keep my Android auto running but not wanting to run Sirius XM through my phone? I already pay for satellite Sirius XM therefore don't want to pay for data, especially when there are so many dead cell spots that are drive through. Do I have to remove the app from my phone which I use when I'm out gardening or even showering??
I bought an aftermarket screen similar to this for my Toyota tundra 2016. It works good. My problem is I can’t see it if I’m wearing my sunglasses. Hi we just got a new 2024 Toyota Rav 4 ltd hybrid , and just a plain android cell phone with no data , is there anyway it can be connected to the car and show a better screen and maps , Thanks great work
Brian, great tutorial. I have a 2024 Corolla Cross XLE. I can't get the A/C vents for the rear that are located at the bottom of the arm rest to blow. I had a back seat passenger and could not get it to work?
We bought a 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid this summer after having a Subaru for 18 years. The learning curve is steep. We still haven’t figured everything out. Keep reading the manuals and watch a few videos. The dealer’s service department is a bit helpful too.
I am new to the infotainment screen, trading in a 2010 Honda Civic with a CD player and upgrading to a 2024 Corolla LE Hybrid. I found this video very helpful. I have a minor disability and would like to have the doors auto lock within 30-60 seconds after I walk away from the car. Is that feature under the "doors" setting in the Toyota App? I couldn't find it. Thank you Brian.
It has auto lock in that menu but the auto lock is only for when the car is already parked and off and has been unlocked while it’s off. It doesn’t auto lock when you just shut the car off. Strange I know
@brianruperti ok Thank you. The feature was set for sixty seconds, and I moved it down to thirty. I don't know if that will help but I usually do lock the car when I walk away from it.
Apparently it’s impossible to disable Bluetooth? It’s not in the manual or on the web, just results for removing devices. Surely there is a hidden setting to “disable Bluetooth”? Lmk, thanks.
If you change the display to not be automatic its still goes in to night mode when in a tunnel or when it gets dark. Can you test it and see if it works for you?
If you turn off Automatic, it gives you the choice of keeping the display in either Daytime (glaring white background) or Nighttime (dark background) all the time. The Nighttime is much easier on the eyes and looks much better, too, since it blends well with the interior design.
Thanks. I have a new Venza and I must admit the software is a bit overwhelming to take in. It works completely different from my previous vehicle. I am a bit worried about Toyota wanting to charge a subscription fee for remote uses and navigation.
I have a 2023 Corolla SE with an almost identical head unit. Do you know how to go back to the main menu options once in Apple Car Play? Once the radio is in that setting, I am unable to switch over to the factory navigation etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏼
Yes tap the bottom left of the screen and find the Toyota app, or if your car shows dual tool bars, the light grey tool bar, if not there are two arrows on the top left that expand the Toyota tool bar. I hope this helps.
Good video - mine was working fine for the first few months (2023 Venza) but somehow I turned off the microphone on CarPlay (or Toyota Connect, not sure which) so when I ask Siri to do something, I can barely hear her voice as the volume is very low (not totally muted). I can’t figure out how to change this back. Any suggestions?
Hey Brian, Thanks for the tutorial. I have a question. When using the Sirius XM, it automatically defaults to ESPN when shutting off and then turning the car back on my 2025 Camry SE instead of remembering my favorite radio station. Can I and if so change or remove the unwanted stations?
Hi Terry, you’re welcome! Yes tap ESPN and you’ll see a little heart symbol that’s either red, or fully shaded in, Tap the heart symbol to make it hallow and ESPN should go away. You’ve then officially “un-favorited” that channel.
Something I'm finding annoying with Apple carplay is that when I try to listen to a message it doesn't automatically mute the audio that's playing and the message is only read out of the driver side speaker. Is it possible to change this?
Great video and it helped me a lot with my 2024 Rav4 Hybrid. I have a question and you probably can't help but no harm in asking. With regard to the RSA over the speed limit notification, I can change the notification from Visual & Audio to No Notification or Visual Only, OR I can just turn it off completely However, when I turn the car off and back on again it goes back to the default “ON” position or defaults to "Visual & Audio". I have tried so many times but regardless of whether I select No notification or Visual Only, when I turn car off and back on again it forgets and defaults to visual and Audio. Similar thing happens when I try to change the notification on the LTA. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
Simplicity is the essence of perfection. How do you turn the radio on and change stations without pressing the screen a dozen times? What a nightmare. Can I retrofit a push button car radio that works so simply and easy?
Great video. Thank you. I have a question when I am using the android car play using my Waze app does that mean I can't have a split screen with the Toyota SiriusXM. it seems when I do the split screen it shows the waze and the Sirius XM from my andriod not the Toyota Siriusxm that I have playing.
Thank you. You should be able to split the screen with the little screen split symbol on the bottom. If it’s not working you can try a software update on the phone, resetting the phone, and even forgetting the phone and car, then re pairing them.
Nice job Brian! On your apple car play homescreen it shows navigation / Food / Drinks / Mikah Sky Sanctuary / and Calendar. Can I edit this screen to show fav phone numbers (4 or them) / Navigation / and FM favorite station? I have been unable to figure out how to edit this home screen? Thanks
Thank you. At this time you can only change the wallpaper and if album art is shown. As well as activate driver focus. I don’t see a way to edit screen layout.
Love your tutorials but I just got 24 Camry xse. Please post tutorial. My purchase description says heated steering wheel but can’t find button. Also struggling to set up apple car play
Thank you. Your heated steering wheel Button should exist on the dashboard left of steering wheel. It’s a small square button next to the trunk and gas door buttons. For apple car play, simply plug your phone into the usb Jack and wait for the prompt on your phone and car screen. Allow all connections and it should activate. Let me know if that helps! And most importantly big congrats on such a nice car. What color??
I just bought a 2023 Highlander. How can I remove the Drive Connect pop up? Very distracting and almost impossible to get back to my main screen. I do not want to purchase that
Brian, great tutorial, my question is on our 2024 Grand Highlander we added my wife’s iPhone app using the QR code, I would like to connect my phone as well but don’t know how to bring up the QR again.
@@brianruperti Awesome, thank you! Not to wear you out with questions, but why doesn’t the radio display the artist and song titles on FM stations like our 2020 Sienna did?
Thank you. There are not color options but when equipped with the dynamic rear view camera, you can change the grid line type, which inherently has different colors per type.

I've tried it and it doesn't.@@brianruperti
Thank you so much for your tutorial. You have beautiful hands and a very nice voice
My pleasure!
Another good one. Finishes up the coverage of my new 2025 Camry LE AWD. Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Hi we just got a new 2024 Toyota Rav 4 ltd hybrid , and just a plain android cell phone with no data , is there anyway it can be connected to the car and show a better screen and maps , Thanks great work
Congrats. Without data the phone may not show the map
Excellent, clear and well done
Many thanks!
Hi, Brian.
Enjoy your tutorials‼️. however I couldn’t find any tutorials on the Toyota Venza, specifically.
Hey sorry Venza has been on back burner lately!
Brian, great tutorial. I have a 2024 Corolla Cross XLE. I can't get the A/C vents for the rear that are located at the bottom of the arm rest to blow. I had a back seat passenger and could not get it to work?
Thank you. You may have the rear vent cancellation button active. You’ll want to turn that cancel switch off.
We bought a 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid this summer after having a Subaru for 18 years. The learning curve is steep. We still haven’t figured everything out. Keep reading the manuals and watch a few videos. The dealer’s service department is a bit helpful too.
Welcome to Toyota 😎
@@brianruperti I had a 1990 Camry for 10 years. So it’s more like welcome back!
@irenecohen8708 nice!!!
Thank you for this useful information. I agree with keeping the doors locked when in "P" Park. Great video. Cheers ✌️
Thanks for watching!
It will stay dark
If you turn off Automatic, it gives you the choice of keeping the display in either Daytime (glaring white background) or Nighttime (dark background) all the time. The Nighttime is much easier on the eyes and looks much better, too, since it blends well with the interior design.
I just bought the 2024 Venza so this was very helpful!
Glad to help!
Thanks. I have a new Venza and I must admit the software is a bit overwhelming to take in. It works completely different from my previous vehicle. I am a bit worried about Toyota wanting to charge a subscription fee for remote uses and navigation.
I have similar concerns
Me too.
I also like my doors to remain locked when I shift into park. Just because I've shifted into park, doesn't mean I'm getting out of the car.
Is it possible to have Google Maps navigation from my iPhone on screen at the same time as the FM car radio playing?
I don’t believe so if it is not showing on your split screen
I have a 2023 Corolla SE with an almost identical head unit. Do you know how to go back to the main menu options once in Apple Car Play? Once the radio is in that setting, I am unable to switch over to the factory navigation etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏼
Yes tap the bottom left of the screen and find the Toyota app, or if your car shows dual tool bars, the light grey tool bar, if not there are two arrows on the top left that expand the Toyota tool bar. I hope this helps.
@ thank you!
Thanks, hmm not sure why it would do that
Hey Brian, Thanks for the tutorial.
I don’t like that either. I don’t think so
Ditto this drives me nuts
I wish they include to customize the keyfob/smart key to control the windows up and down.
Great video and it helped me a lot with my 2024 Rav4 Hybrid.
I have a question and you probably can't help but no harm in asking. With regard to the RSA over the speed limit notification, I can change the notification from Visual & Audio to No Notification or Visual Only, OR I can just turn it off completely
However, when I turn the car off and back on again it goes back to the default “ON” position or defaults to "Visual & Audio". I have tried so many times but regardless of whether I select No notification or Visual Only, when I turn car off and back on again it forgets and defaults to visual and Audio.
Similar thing happens when I try to change the notification on the LTA.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
Thank you. After reading your message I realized I don’t have an answer I have no
Idea why it would keep resetting like that.
Hi, I have a Sansung S23 Ultra and I can't connect to Android Auto wireless, it only works with the cable, do you know any workaround to fix? Thanks
Ooo I’m sorry I’m not familiar with the S23
Hi Brian
Thanks for making a very helpful video. Much appreciated.
Hey Tony thanks for watching!
I don’t see a way to edit screen layout.
lol my iPad just went to Siri when you spoke! Is there a way to control volume on maps?
lol and yes should be in the settings to the app you’re running
Love your tutorials but I just got 24 Camry xse. Please post tutorial. My purchase description says heated steering wheel but can’t find button. Also struggling to set up apple car play
Thank you. Your heated steering wheel
Button should exist on the dashboard left of steering wheel.
I do not want to purchase that
Congrats. Should be in the MID settings for pop up displays
Brian, great tutorial, my question is on our 2024 Grand Highlander we added my wife’s iPhone app using the QR code, I would like to connect my phone as well but don’t know how to bring up the QR again.
All you have to do is go to Bluetooth>new user> follow Bluetooth prompts to connect the new phone
@@brianruperti Awesome, thank you! Not to wear you out with questions, but why doesn’t the radio display the artist and song titles on FM stations like our 2020 Sienna did?
@Olecountry-ow3yj no idea I
Wonder the same myself!
Great video as usual. Do you know if you can change the colors of the lines for the rearview camera? thanks
Thank you. There are not color options but when equipped with the dynamic rear view camera, you can change the grid line type, which inherently has different colors per type.
Just purchased a 2024 Toyota Tundra. I have set up Apple Car Play on my system. I also set up Sirius radio. How I do I set up Sirius radio as an app on the car play screen so that I can toggle to Sirius more efficiently?
Do you have the Sirius app downloaded to the phone?
@@brianruperti Yes, I just added it to my iphone.
Can I play the radio when using Google maps?
I don’t see why not but you’re the third person to mention this topic in just a week so I have some experimenting to do
@@brianruperti can you let me know if you find a way?
@@brianrupertiI’m seconding this, how do you display the radio and google maps together? People don’t always use apps on their phone to listen to music. This system makes no sense
Nothing changes the fact that this radio setup is awlfull.
why not cover steering wheel settings. I had a hard time finding the compass!
That’s in the tutorial for each individual car please check my video list
Great video was very helpful for learning how to use my new car.
Glad you liked it!
