  • A man called Robin called into Nick Ferrari's show on LBC to speak to the Brexit Opportunities Minister, Jacob Reese-Mogg. Robin has worked in the fishing industry for about 50 years and he explained very clearly the problems facing his sector post Brexit. Of course Mogg either doesn't understand the problems of being a 3rd country or he is pretending not to.

Eaton and all other institutions like it are designed to reproduce and perpetuate a particular class in power and wealth. Good education should be a public (as in available to all) good, not only for obnoxious frauds born in the right income bracket like the Moggster. Before Brexit, I had a discussion with an acquaintance here in Germany. She thought it was right that the British should fish unrestricted in their waters. Correct in principle, but the British fishermen had sold their licenses to Germans, Dutch and others for good money. And those English fishermen who haven't sold their licenses complain about foreign competition. But most English-caught fish are sold to continental Europe.
My question to English fishermen and politicians: Why should we buy your expensive fish now? We don't like fish'n'chips. You throw pickled herring after us because you don't like them.

Then it was clegg blamed for tuition fees when it was Tories who pushed that crap through. Lib Dems we’re nicely blamed for it, but it’s the Tories that could’ve stopped it. They’ve blamed everything and anything for their own failings and they’ve pushed through their ideological agenda in the guise of blaming others. It’s really sad, but here we are

His emollient manner when dealing with Brexiteers mirrors that squishy sensation that comes with treading in dog pooh, and the smell lingers just as badly. Did you hear later on in the interview, when one caller brilliantly called out the ridiculous obfuscation spewed by Mogg and the rest of the cabinet, when she pointed out how reducing tariffs on things like solar panels, won’t help someone who’s struggling to pay their fuel bills and put food on the table - and Ferrari just went on and asked his own question, as if developing the callers question, but actually enabling Mogg to avoid answering it in any way.
Oh, and who will these reduced tariffs help? Those with sufficient funds, who can already afford to invest in measures to reduce future fuel costs for themselves - not the ones who need the help. Ferrari just helped Mogg get away with avoiding an awkward question that would have exposed his rhetoric for what it is.

"The EU is imposing sanctions on the UK post Brexit," means the EU did not need the UK more than the UK needed the EU. I wish that would be frankly acknowledged. That being the case, what is to be done about it? the vague reference to market forces seems to me to acknowledge that the UK is outgunned in this fight and essentially hopes that the EU will decide to help them out.
