Holy cow, this video tears at my heart. I had a 1981 FJ40 in the High Desert of California when I was stationed at George AFB in the USAF (in my twenties). I drove that sucker off-road all over the Mojave Desert and never had a problem. Then, I was reassigned to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. So, I drove it up there. Twelve days on the road, up the "AlCan Highway." Lived there for three years and again, never had an issue with all the snow and such. Drove six miles up a dirt road to my house in the mountains of Eagle River. I've never seen a more beautiful place. Then, I drove back to the east coast of the USA (Rhode Island) to live for thirty five years. It finally rusted out completely. I still miss that thing. I've since had all kinds of vehicles -- sports cars, power trucks, etc. But I think that old, desert tan FJ-40 is my favorite.
I've had many vehicles myself and currently own a 2019 Rav 4 but I rarely drive it and drive the Cruiser instead. I was stationed in Newport, RI for 3/6 years in the USN.
@@JosesGaraje Ah, Newport. So beautiful. I'm landlocked in a mountain town in AZ now. I miss the ocean. So now I drive to Puerto Penasco, Mexico for my seafood fix.
I'm landlocked too but on a lake; I don't miss the ocean all that much, there are many perks for living in the woods. I found the coast is too populated for my taste.
Greetings from western Maine, that's a beauty!
Thanks. I really enjoy this truck and can't wait to get the 40-45 conversion ramped up.
