"Stop it!" I really loved that you put that out there, thanks. Great Fj40's these two and I've learned a lot from your channel in general about all things Land Cruisers. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Awesome video I totally agree there's a lot of trolls out there I've helped out many people On the forums. Speaker boxes idea is awesome I actually have a long bench seat on my truck I Kept the factory cage in order to fit Small modification to the Seat I was able to sneak two 6/9 Speakers behind the seat.
Great video and beautiful rig. Question - what does your reverse shackle do differently than say a shackle that you find in a typical suspension lift kit?
It's a long explanation. I dedicated a segment to it in a previous episode but I can't remember which one. In a nutshell, the front axle now responds to bumps by moving up and away from them instead of up and towards them as it would have with the shackle up front. That, and there are fewer bushings up front that can wear and allow the steering to wander.
How did you achieve that super flat steering geometry in the older restomod? Was it just the dropped pitman arm? Anything else “special”? I have a similar era Land Cruiser, and I am trying to eliminate the bump steer that my current sloped steering arms are giving me…. (Thanks for all your great help.)
@@JB-tg5ss Yes, 60 series, but I might recommend using a 80 series box. They are much easier to get new (aftermarket) now. We are just beginning to consider this ourselves.
Also, if you are using a lot of oil, lots of blow by, and you are not ready for a rebuild or top end job, change the oil, but use, a straight weight, non detergent, 70 weight MOTOR OIL, no additives, and all the smoke, blow by, and plug fowling will STOP! IMMEDIATELY! Change it every 3 to 4000 miles, but I would not run it like that for over 60,000. I put over 600,000 on a 75, but when I took it apart, ( was running decent), some of the pistons was missing most of the skirts, all oil rings were gone, ( both sets) and the back two pistons only had one oil ring, ( the skirts and rings were buried in hardened sludge , oil pan) would never believe an engine would even run, but I had no idea, because it ran decent.

I've had a blue 1980 FJ 40 10,500$ tax included (canadian money) and recently a Jeep Wrangler with a 2.0 turbo 50,000$.The Jeep is a piece of junk compare to the Land Cruiser, a real tank, yes sir!!
Thank you for calling for kind, respectful, productive comments to all FJ questions on the various social media platforms. Well said Jerimiah!

I love what you have done, maintaining the originality of the LC and changing based on need and function.

You guys are awesome! I have a blue 76' FJ40 similar to yours here. One of these days, I gotta get it up there.
Love classic OEM cruisers withToyota Engines like these are my favorite and F60s
Great restoration but the music overpowers your video.
I've heard this from several others, we keep turning it down, but I guess it's still too high. Thanks for your comment.

The forum community is and has been great in the 7 years since I got mine. Idk what you’re talking about
I'm really glad to hear that.

It's because of the 60 series steering. Mounting the box the way we do just puts the stock 60 series arm in the perfect place.
So it’s 60’s series steering on a 40’s series truck! Thanks a lot. I’m gonna try it!!

Mabey turn down the intensity and volume of the electric guitar solos.
Thanks for the feedback. We’ve actually gone down with the music lots of times. Try watching one of our new episodes and see if the volume is better.
👍

2F engine came in 1975, not 1976.
Yep, did I say 76? If so, my bad. Sometimes when I get rambling on camera, I say things that later when I hear them I go "What was I thinking?"
I want one!
Please turn down the music, we like what you are explaining to us without been distracted by something else.

turn your music down!
Watch some of the newer episodes, it should be about right
