Dude that thing in that color looks straight up almost like metal... I really think this is their best one on this chassis yet, and I love the mashigan
Great info! I just ordered a set of shocks for mine per your suggestion. You're right about the ESC, it's terrible. I painted the recess on the hood flat black & added 6 lug white steely wheels, brake rotors, F lock out hubs + Milestar tires. To come: winch, HW ESC, driver, lights, etc. Aliexpress has the correct colored qtr. panel emblems.
Many thanks for the video just ordered one in yellow will be hear in the nexts few days i will be doing the shock mod/change along with the motor to a fusion its all i run in my trucks now 😎😎👍👍👍👍
Woohoo I've been waiting for your recommendations. Here's what I've done: 1080 Hobbywing, Reefs Raw 500, MyTrickRc Dragon 2 controller, large and small light bars and rock lights that I mounted to the roof rack, 2 red, 2 orange tail lights, also MytrickRc, some sweet Injora brushed aluminum bead locks, 80mm shocks (which may not fit), a giant T-Rex skull on top and RJ McCready (Kurt Russell) behind the wheel.
Yup gonna have to order one of these when I get home from Colorado which btw if you live in cascade/Colorado Springs you are so incredibly lucky the scenery is absolutely spectacular not to mention the amount of spots around for crawlers I’m kicking myself for not bringing one 😂
Great video. I already own 3 of the FMS vehicles and I'm getting this one over the week end. Do you have a link for the shocks and rims? I saw that you posted a link but that is a little broad. Thanks
Where did you get the shocks from? part number please? Also the same with the esc. Where and part number please. I cant wait to upgrade it. I just received it! This this is awesome! so realistic! thanks guy!
Just getting into the hobby. I am waiting on my FMS FJ40 to arrive. I am hard of hearing and was wondering what shocks you replaced the factory shocks with. Thank you
Hi, I really love your videos 🍻 Great content ! I looking to buy FJ40 model. But I’m bit stuck in between RC4WD Gelande II and FMS. I did some research looks like due to the scale accuracy there are lack of modification parts for FMS. So my heart says go for RC4WD. What is your recommendation? Appreciate your comment 😊
I just got mine! Can you please point me to the shocks and ESC you used? I’m new to the hobby and realizing you can spend as much $ as you want on this stuff. =)
Hey there..what if i put 70mm big bore?? Because i couldn't find 65mm shocks in my country..is there any problem if i install 70mm big bore shocks? Or is it still plug and play? Thanks
You mention 65mm shocks, can you install something like 70mm shocks? Will that just raise the truck up 5mm or give you more travel? Thanks for your videos and help as always!
Lower weight? People put bbs in the wheels to float at the bottom but im against adding rotating weight beyond a degree... Id say a heavy tire compound Diff cover Or axle housing is gunna matter more than a ring low?
I have a way to get weight lower than the rim.... But I ain't tellin' lol 😉 (Nope not fluid in the tires, that's ok but it screws up the foams) (Not BBs either doesn't really work with foams)
Rim weight is really the same as axle weight in terms of height. The reason... half the weight is above the axle and the other half is above the axle... always.
Great upgrade suggestions to my favorite FMS model thus far. My second is the Machigan. Love trailing running that one. Now time to get some parts ordered and start upgrading. Also suggest a scale Warn winch for yet another asthetic yet functional upgrade ;-)
Shock oil is highly dependent on the shock and the size of the piston hole. But... compared to a traxxas or Axial shock which typically uses 30wt. oil, this shock feels like a 70 or 80wt.
@@RCReviewChannel I just leave them loose so they can find the lowest point in the tire which will naturally be the contact patch. It makes a world of difference on small scale rigs like the TRX4M. On larger rigs it can help up to a point, but then it hurts because it can pull the truck down depending on the approach angle.
Could you put it next to an scx6?! No one… has done it. I’m very curious in the difference. I don’t need one, but for $350! Dang it…. I think I need one 😂. Thanks for your time
It'd take four of these to be as big as the SCX6, trust me. A few buddies have SCX6's, and I have the FJ. It's big, but I think some are going a lil overboard. It's a bit bigger than a TRX4. I'd say about 1/8 scale. . .
@@OkieDokieBoi thanks for the info! So putting scx6 axles, tires and wheels on the fj probably wouldn’t work then. I was thinking like scale… 1 ton axles with 44” tires on a real 1/1 build. Thanks! 👍
@RCReviewChannel that's fair and understandable. You're not wrong. I'm just trying to clarify its actual size in person. I've seen way too many thinking it's as big as an SCX6, which it isn't even close.
Not yet received mine, already have a better hobby wing esc, but really fancy that wheel and tyre combo! Anyone able to help me with exactly which ones please? Ill get shocks and light kit too.
Got my G-Made 6 lug white steelies (VR01) from Amain. Mounted the lug bolts in from the back side so the front shows the wheel stud & the lug nuts, which are included with the wheels
I wonder if the Boom Racing Yota Classic center hubcap would work with this style hub? It would give you the classic FJ40 hubcap look. I know they work on the gelande 2 FJ40, same type of mount? Also can you do a comparison of the gelande 2 FJ40 from RC4WD to this FMS FJ40? I am sure that would be a shootout everyone would love to see! Which performs better, quality, parts availability, etc…. Thanks!

Love Aliexpress. Have you been able to find any inner fenders? I was able to find a set for the front on ebay but not for the rear.
I have the 3D printed front liners & they fit great! Since the hard body comes down to the frame in back, I just painted mine flat black.
hi there, any link for shocks available?
Enjoyed the video, beautiful looking rig, and the upgrades definitely made a deference. Very nice, thx for sharing👍
It looks so much better with those wheels and the shocks have transformed the scale handling performance
Night and day for sure. I'll get it out on the rocks too and see.

I just installed a Hw 1080g2 esc today. Completely changed the crawl. Also installed jconcepts holds on treal vintage wheels
That is the classic route. We were actually thinking of the Treal vintage wheels.

Nice video. Just wanted to know, so where can one purchase those shocks ?
Wheel adds weight directly in line with center line of axle. If you add weight below that, it’s lower than the wheel. Diff skids n such.
Correct, correct. So the true lowest, significant weight is.... brass portal axles. They're designed to put a lot of weight below the axle line.
Please can you tell me the weight ? and great upgrade suggestions. I was going to buy a 75 mm shocks

can you please show the link to the lighting kit?

great video, if its possible for you to send me the name of the suspension (shocks kit) we have not found one with enough damping .... thanks
There exists a fluid, for bike tires, wich you can press in the tubes, to prevent a flat. This fluid will also replace the foam...
Orange seal
FMS needs to come up with a red color version.

After I calculated, I think the scale ratio is more like 1:8

Which ESC did you bild in the toyota fj40
Nice! Did you consider converting it to leafsprings?
Water, or some fluid like mass. That is a lower weight. I've seem some very specialized crawlers do it.
Imagine a hollow axle filled with thick viscous oil. If it had controlled " room " so it didn't slosh to one side side Hilling...
That is true but it is not practical
BBs in the tires would b lower cg. But that means you have to take out foams
They would need to slosh around the bottom of the tire to be lower than axle weight. And that's not really practical or will perform well.
Yep! The wheel barrel is the lowest part of the truck. The only way to get that point lower would be a shorter tire.
wheel weight is actually the same as axle weight. That's because half is below the axle and the other half is above the axle. There is something lower
Please,i need shocks link please
Speaking about heavier shock oil, what wt did you use?
The rack and shocks gotta go , I'll ditch the bunk beds too , but I really like it , I usually put some weight on the axles some where
Perfect! Those seats in the back, I'll just keep folded up until there are some passengers back there.
Hi could you tell me who made theses shocks you have used for this toy Thanks
Do you think the transmission would hold up with fusion se
Would the Yeah racing big bore go 65mm work?
Bbs in the tires is technically lower cg
Very nice, I'm actually getting some km3 this weekend. what foams are you running?
These are dual stage by Cross-RC. I think Proline dual-stage will be key for this heavy beast.
I'm newer to all of this, what parts do you recommend for upgrading the Mashigan
ESC and shocks, just like on this video. Hobbywing 1080 ESC is best.

Yeah Racing has some similar ones: 65mm Big Bore Go damper. They come with some tuning stuff for around 20-24€ a pair.

BBs for a BB gun in the tires.
