Choh Sena and of course, pandora’s actor can transform into one of the supreme beings and use their gear that’s inside the treasury to mimic the effects. And seeing how much impact a lvl 35 death knight caused in the new world, I’d say that pandora’s actor is capable and has access to powers that can destroy new world countries.

Hen Shin the thing is, Pandora’s actor wouldn’t have access to the staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, and while he can use the equipment to the point where he is as good as the original owner, he doesn’t know the tactics that the originals used. So if we are talking strategically Pandora’s actor is not as good as the original, even with an item that fills in his 20% stat reduction.
@@lowkeyarki7091 How efficiently you can use a weapon doesn't have to do with intelligence, it has to do with personal preference and knowledge of its limitations. While Pandora's actor spent all of his time polishing the treasure room, I'm sure that knows every sacred item very well.
One other use for a Doppelganger: A Doppelganger could transform into an enemy, and then tell their allies what skills and stats etc to expect while battling said enemy, because as you said, they're perfect for Intel gathering.
Yes that would seem to be a perfect use. Find or plant a mole then intercept or use the Dopple while containing or distracting the original. You have the original having done the mission but used the Dopple to give false intel.
Doppelgängers have limited forms. While this may seem like a good tactic, it can be only used a few times before the player has to lose levels in Doppelgänger to free new forms.

I would say Pandora's actor would give ains the hardest time despite The Gangbanger disable spells and ains creating him. AND I think pandora's actor can defeat all of the other guardians and NPC's in nazarick like I said Dispite the disable spells Pandora's actor is strong
but an imitation will only be as good as the original while an original can continue to grow. i have this similar grasp with god and humanity. god is perfect but he will never grow due to his perfection. while humans are weak and imperfect but we will continue to grow due to our weakness. that must mean that one day no matter how much time will have to pass a growing human will one day surpass a standstill god. why else do you think that despite the fact that ainz is max level that he ties to find more ways to strengthen himself because he understands this philosophy between humans and gods.
Actually, there is one thing you forgot to note in these calculations. The health of the doppelgänger is always fixed, so even if they transform they keep their health Stat. Meaning if he transformed into a minmax power build, or a low level build, he could potentially beat it because he has a lot of HP to compensate.
Not to mention the fact, if you have enough forms it is likely that you can transform into something your opponent is weak against, which would negate the penalties somewhat.
Matt Mercer, me, a pal of mine, a handful of other DM's I know. I have almost 200 NPC's designed for my D&D setting with their own routines and history. You'd be surprised what DM's come up with in their freetime, especially given *years* to build things.

Pandora's true power is his intelligence, if he duplicates his enemy he learns all their abilities and at the time their chosen tactic if its in the forefront of their mind... then doppleganger switches to the perfect counter for a "super effective". Rather than hit and run attacks, go full type matching. We seen it with Vermin Bane, even at a lower level it wrecked her.

What happens if that spell is used on a maxed out doppleganger ditto that makes the target revert back to their base form? Would the dittoganger go back to the original doppleganger or would the doppleditto only go back 1 transformation? Would this process also work if a doppleganger transformed into another doppleganger? What would happen if a doppleganger tried to transform into a maxed out dittoganger or is it a doppleditto? Would it become a Doppleditgangerto? So many important questions. I hope this is covered in the 2nd video.
@@RhazOfRheos Yeah, that's basically what he's saying. Even after Nazarick moved to the new world, Ainz kept PA in the treasury out of embarrassment. It wasn't until the guardians convinced him to utilize the doppelganger more that we got things like having him imitate momon. I think this was mentioned in a side comment on the other PA video.

If Pandora's Actor was to replicate Touch-Me in his World Champion class, then outfit himself with all Touch-Me's equipment from the halls of Nazarick, he would be a world breaker in the New World. That 20% reduction in power doesn't mean much when you're that much stronger than anyone else in the world.
Any combat type level 100 npc with a WI would be a world breaker in the New World, the current strongest being there only have the strength of a level 80-90 tank.
The fact that Pandora’s Actor managed the Treasury that stores all of the Guild Member’s equipment and World Items, the flaw about Pandora’s Actor not being about duplicate equipment is not a problem any more.
@@allenxavier6073 he probably means, that Touch-Me is, like, 80% stronger than any other player. Which means even with doppleganger's overall 64% debuff penalty - he still will be 16% stronger than anyone else. But Touch-Me is the best PvP player not because of gear, stats and abilities. But because of his experience and skill. Kinda impossible to replicate for doppelgangers to the same effect.
Doppelgangers seem to be ideal to have as universal crafter because of how crafting works and because there seems to be no penalty due to how it appears to work therefore for crafting only thing that matters is the job levels and because the doppelganger mimics all the stats 1:1 they would be ideal in situations where you might want massive amounts of scrolls/potions...

When Momonga has created the strongest NPC ever imagined despite not being the strongest of the Nazarick lords. Even if PA's power would still be only 80% compared to the original and even then he could be utilized in all sorts of ways.
If, only if,Ains in the future gives Pandora an item that busts him at least 20% of his stats even while transformed that would counter his biggest weakness
The item would have to be native to the New World, as if it were from YGGDRASIL Ainz would have noticed how good it would have been for the Guardian of the Treasury and given it to him.
Actually I have been thinking.about this and an item that boost all of his attributes would be perfect because it can boost the transformation ability by 10% and that brings us to 100%.

His talents lay in disguise, and he could copy 45 separate forms and even their abilities - though only at 80% of the originals’ potency._
Regardless if he had a 20% boost to his stats that wouldn't negate a 20% reduction, that's not how percentages work, regardless of how and when they're applied. Let's do a quick simple example X has a base power of 10 with an item that boosts his base power by 20% at all times regardless of form. Thus his base power with that item is 12 (10*1.2). When transforming into another form his base power becomes 9.6 (12*.8). It's only a 4% reduction at that point, but it's still a reduction. Do it the other way around and assume that the buff is applied after the debuff. 10 becomes 8 becomes 9.6 still. This is just a very simple example as well, without any of the complexities that are typically creates in a game engine. Put on top of that if there's an item that just flat buffs *all* your traits by 20% that's very likely a very popular and potent item that *most* people would wear, thus he'd still be at effectively 80% of any properly equipped person because they, too, will have that 20% buff.

To be precise, it is based on an already existing game, Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e. Lots of Overlord stuff was inspired by the author's roleplaying sessions on that system.
All the guardians are very reflective of their creators’ personalities to an extreme, PA included. Ainz’s personality is more strategy and flexibility than brute force and that’s what PA is in extreme. Love it.
having played a lot of MMORPG, 20% can be easily compensated with skill, buff, comsumable, equipment. A lot of the time, you can use special items set to buff a particular stats/skill over 100%. I can see doppelganger can be very useful, if your gameplay style is highly volatile. But again, we don't know the game, but since it is in the game, I believe there is a strong case that it has a role. A guess this is the reason why nabe is a mage case not a fighter class. Because for a fighter case, the gameplay is more straightforward, while a mage class, you got to know what to do at what timing. so stats doesn't matter as much, since using the correct magic at the corrct timing is more important then a straight up dmg duel that depending on stats. Another reason why Ainz build Pandora's actor to be highly intelligence.
highly depends on the game tbh, -20% in some games makes a huge difference, especially if it is a multiplicative multiplier as opposed to an additive one In some games might not be too bad if player input s like a dodge exist, but for games mainly based on stats? that's a tough one

It's funny you mention spells that can reveal a doppelganger. Druids in D&D fifth edition get a spell that can do that as early as the second tier (level three). It's called Moon Beam. Deals radiant damage, can be halved with a constitution save and forces whatever shapeshifter it hits to revert to its original form if it fails the save. Shapeshifters also have disadvantage on the save. As most know by now I'm sure, Overlord is very heavily based on the author's experiences playing D&D and other tabletop rpgs with his friends, so it stands to reason there are spells specifically geared towards fucking up shapeshifters and other subsets of creatures.
Yep such anti doppleganger spell/item probably exist but since PA is a bit of a special doppleganger maybe Ainz had him equipped that would counter an item/spells like that. But such countermeasures would probably work incases of Nabe and the fake King in Holy kingdom though.
The term Doppelgänger can mean different things, depending on the context you use it in. For example a person who looks nearly the same as you do, can be called a Doppelgänger in germany. As well as Stunt Doubles can also be called like that. So the term Doppelgänger can really be used in close to any context to describe a person/being wich looks alike you or someone else

By using doppelganger transform in water type and use water type skill like water shield that is great way to use doppelganger (right). But using doppelganger will not over 100% against fire type, it will help out from taking a lot of damage. (Maybe yes maybe not).

He also guards the treasury where all the gear of his former guild mates reside. If he transforms into Lord Touch Me (strongest player in the guild) and equips his equipment he could become one of the strongest beings despite the 20% reduction.
he would be better transforming into Peroronchino. Touch me is strongest PvP player because of skill and experience. While Peroronchino is the strongest hard-hitting single target player, because of the gear, build and abilities. wouldnt be suprised, if Peroronchino has overkill dmg. Like he deals 20% more dmg, than it takes to oneshot enemy player. Which means even with doppel's 20% dmg debuff - he still oneshots a player.
With instant death spells, as far as I remember, in D&D the target has to make a "will save." Depending on the death spell they need to roll a certain amount on a certain die. So one spell for instance will require that the target roll 14 or higher on a d20. The target then rolls and gets a 13. The target dies unless they have a modifier that can increase the result of the throw to meet the requirement. Additionally the caster can also have spells that debuff the target before casting the death spell. So a doppleganger will maybe get their roll reduced by 20% and then their modifiers will also be reduced by 20%.
"Only 20% less." First time I've seen this channel, I enjoyed it, but anyone that thinks that's a good trade off has never played a game where +5% anything is a godsend.
i think if you look at this with cooldowns in world of warcraft it gives a great example. I foy use a cooldown to keep your damage higher you will always have more but if you use all your cooldowns at the same time they work off of each other to greatly increase damage. (if one gives crit chance and another gives attack speed you can see how this would work together.) i think this shows how the stacking of different ability all being 80% really decreases overall effectiveness. To be fair i dont think doppelganger is a very damage oriented race but i feel this example explains it quite well. Another good vid man keep it up. :D
He can use buffs like any other character + he's the one incharge of treasury so PA probably knows strengths and weaknesses of others esp the equipment they're using
Although I haven't read the whole novel, the general consensus I've read online is that Pandora's Actor can do exactly that. Turn into Ainz/Ulbert , do massive self-buffs, then morph into Touch me-sama, then brutalize most enemies.... stuff like that, which would make him easily more powerful than the original.
@@Archedgar that would be prossible but the main constraint would be the constant change of gear. What made Ainz and the nazarick among the top guilds is their gear. Touch me and Ulbert is the World class warrior and mage respectively which probably has job exclusive equipments and each other member has their equipment specialized to their ideal class build just like how Ainz is supposed to be some sort of "god of death" necromancer and nishinki a glass cannon ninja. Other spells also require certain equipment and requires adjusted alignment points.
Imagine PA having Mangekyo-Sharingan if not Rinnegan and a spell similar to Erza Scarlet's Requip. With these two, he'd be able to copy any abilities to do specific things (even if said spell's effectiveness is lowered by 20%) and switch equipment accordingly, thus, making him more effective in any scenario.
Okay... So Pandoras can turn into the supreme ones and wear their gear. (With permission of course) so even with the 20% debuff he can be one of the strongest in the known current Overlord universe

However he could turn into Ulbert and use [Grand Catastrophe] the strongest magic in the game in terms of damage, then turn into Touch Me with his world champion equipement to be the strongest warrior. This combo could even outdamage Rubedo.

@@exacrion3963 There is no statement in the story nor any statement or hint by the author about Rubedo being "considered a game asset (object) rather than a character". Also, why wouldn't PA be able to copy another NPC? That's what Rubedo is. A custom-made golem NPC with custom-setting for character backstory added to it. At the end of the day, it's still an NPC, not an object. Plus, why would PA only be able to transform into players? With the way the race is, for it to work in a game it would need to be able to copy enemy monsters as well. Even more so considering that in Yggdrasil it was possible to make a character any race whatsoever(except for world enemies and dragons). As long as a race existed in the game, even as an enemy monster, it was possible to play as that race. Golems and Automatons are classified as Heteromorphs in Yggdrasil. There's no reason why PA wouldn't be able to transform into Rubedo.
@@sancturillore Yes there is a reason why PA's forms will not include Rubedo. Rubedo is very unique in every way the other NPCs are made. The very core of her creation is a world class item, that is the very reason you can doubt that Pandora's Actor would be able to transform into Rubedo. She can be an asset to the guild just because of the uniqueness. That is also the reaso she is kept hidden inside Nazarick because she can be very destructive if we take in consideration the informations that are available for Rubedo.
Probably very similar to Pandora, Doppelgangers in fantasy are well known to be fairly uniform in their basic appearance, with minor differences in height and weight and choice of clothing/decoration.

Your assumption of how the calculation of the damage reduction seems fine on the surface level. But that's not the only sensible way to calculate that. It's sure the most straightforward method, however there is also the possibility that the Doppelganger would do 160 damage to you. Aka a 20% Damage Reduction. And in the reverse would take 240 damage aka a 20% Damage Increase. It depends fully on how you calculate things, do you calculate base stats or actual damage. Because if it were stats, then in your case it would be 100% less damage dealt and 80% increased damage taken... While in my case it would be a 20% increase and decrease in respective case. There's a huge difference depending on when you calculate the 20% decrease. Before Damage Calculation or after Damage Calculation.
Seeing as how Ainz has that one one Mage Jobless that max's out at Lvl5, which helped to practically remove the limitation of amount of spells, I'd assume that Momonga definitely found some hidden Race class that broke that balance and allowed either Pandora's Actor to imitate either 100% or more than 100% of the supreme ones power, after all he is the Guardian of the Treasury I'd assume that he would be hella overpowered maybe close to the power of Rubedo, and he might have a world Item?
14:33, Most games use a multiplicative damage reduction system. Basically your resistances create a percent reduction in damage rather than outright blocking a number of damage, this way it's almost impossible to block all damage, also usually there are diminishing returns. For example the formula for damage reduction for physical damage in League of Legends is Damage X (100/100+armor), so 50 armor gives 100/150 or 66.66% multiplier so you take 33.33% less damage. So 100 armor gives you a 50% damage reduction but 200 armor only gives you 66.66% damage reduction and 300 gives you 75%, so it's very hard to get insane damage reduction. So you need 900 armor to get a 90% reduction, 4900 to get 98%, and 9900 to get 99%, so yeah an extra 1% damage reduction takes 5000 armor, which is totally not worth it (also impossible on all champs other than Thresh, Jax, and technically Trundle). Hear it is impossible to get 100% damage reduction theoretically as armor trends to infinity as reduction approaches 100%, but you can get a practical 100% reduction with much less armor as you don't need to reduce the incoming damage to 0, you just need to take less damage than you regenerate. If you have your base regen + items that boost regen + lifesteal or spell vamp (lifesteal for spells instead of basic attacks) than you can technically become invincible. If anyone is wondering this last case is how Kirito was impossible to kill in the bridge scene, you can see his healthbar dropping and regening, so he doesn't have 100% nullification, but the damage he's taking is less than his regen. For those that are curious, in League the maximum armor achievable realistically is 3432.618816 on Malphite with a Taric, and Braum buffing him and an Orrn providing items to all three. Thresh stacks armor infinitely, and Jax, through Gathering Storm and his ult, can do the same. Trundle, by virtue of his ult stealing 40% of the target's resistances, can also stack infinitely, however you can't actually have infinite armor, so he's always less than Jax and Thresh. Thresh's passive maxes at 749999.25 armor, with the above buffs bringing him to 910,296.7564 armor or a 99.99989016% reduction in physical damage. I don't know what the variable type for the armor value is (in the code that is), Technically Jax has the highest resistance values in the game as Gathering Storm scales infinitely meaning the resistances provided by his ult scale infinitely, until the variable that stores either his AD, AP, MR, or armor max out. A double maxes out at 2^53, so if his AD maxes there, his ult would give him 70+(0.5*(2^53)) plus his 67 base armor, plus 675 armor from items, so 4,503,599,627,371,308 armor or 99.99999999999777955% damage reduction, this is without teamates buffing him other than Orrn for items, but it's inconsequential at this point. But I mean 4.5 Quadrillion armor might be a little overkill, and doing the math, would take a game that lasted 35.7 billion years.
Instead of “Super-Ultra Doppleganger” you should have just said something like Perfect Doppleganger, it would have made more sense if that was the ultimate class for Dopplegangers after all

I know this video is pretty old, I still enjoy it. One thing I was thinking that could offset the 80% potency limitation, what if the doppelganger has specialties into areas where their base stats could help bypass that reduced potency. That potency reduction is only a reduction in the form they are copying, maybe their base stats could apply through and potentially offset that loss, potentially making them equal to the original. Just a thought
i suspect that class changes have stat requirements in them.. maybe the doppelgänger’s stat requirements are more all-around. this means they cannot compensate for the -20% potency if they mimic min-maxed builds
the best things a doppelganger can do is hard-counter the enemy, even if they have 20% less stats if their match up is significantly favorable (scissors vs paper, reaper vs Winston, awp vs shotgun in long sight-line, fire type vs grass type, etc) then a 20% reduction may well be peanuts if PA can focus all abilities on the enemies weakness. doppelganger are good because they specialize against everything (when set up like Pandora's Actor).
I'm pretty sure defence works with percentage. Say someone has 100 attack and 100 defence. 10 defence would be equal to 1 percent damage reduction and 100 would be equal to 10 percent damage reduction. So if Pandora's actor were to copy him he'd have 80 attack and when he hit him it would be reduced further by the 10 percent damage reduction making Pandora's actor do 72 damage while his opponent is doing 92 damage because of Pandora's actor's 80 defence/8 percent damage Immunity
except that in this case he's very wrong. And you also are due to going along with his failed logic. In Yggdrasil, defense is based on stats, and since stats are copied 100% perfectly in this case, it thus means that there wouldn't be any penalty on defense. Similarly, the 80% potency for skills and spells is about the result of the spell, not about the chances of success(which itself is instead determined by the level and stats of the character and by the rank of the spell, and sometimes by buffs from equipment). As such, Instant Death spells don't suffer any penalty.

I don't know what the 80% potency translates to exactly, but I know the amount of casts from abilities/skills Pandora's Actor is copying remains the same. I remember Ainz talking about how he can summon a certain amount of lower tier undead for free every day and then he said if Pandora's Actor copies Ainz and joins in then that would double the amount they can summon. So that implies that the 80% potency does not cut the amount of uses down as well. I believe I read that before Novel 10, some time after Novel 3.

The whole point of his powers is that he can come and counter you exactly with what hits you hardest in his arsenal, or go with what shuts down your options and powers without affecting his. Or... just bulldozing through. Do you really think Pandora's Actor turning into Ainz or Ulbert or another support person, buffing himself to high hell and then turning into Touch Me with full gear would fall to Shalltear?

There is literally nothing to talk about Victim at all aside from trying to figure out his uses based from his stat sheet - basically classes (Angel, Archangel etc.). Well, Victim can activates a powerful movement restriction skill by sacrificing itself. In using this ability, Victim's main role is to protect or support his allies. He's one of the reason, though the "core force" (as mentioned in the LN by Ainz) was the one who actually killed them off, why Nazarick was able to fend off a raid of 1500 players and NPCs from multiple guild in the 8th floor (the strongest floor) of Nazarick. Every time Victim speaks, his words are usually read backwards from the end to beginning of the sentence (basically the sound you hear when he talks).
But as you said it is about tactic and deception PA is as smart as his creator so I think even if origenal vs dopplinger fight dopplinger has higher chance if they use better tactic plus if the limit of transformation is three time per day it is still too broken the only disadvantage is his HP and MP does not change with the transformation

@Richard Casterly The problem is the assumption that his gear will be limited, which is a bit of a silly idea why that would be the case. Another point is the fact that you bring up the 20% without accounting how even 80% of a certain character can still be stronger than Shalltear. This is ALSO forgetting possible cross-transformation shenanigans, like fully buffing as the best buff support among the Supreme Beings then going Touch Me on someone's ass, or raising his defenses to the max and using the tankiest character he has available. Or even potentially quick changing his form in the middle of battle. This is as well not accounting for any special items for Doppelgangers or items created for his exclusive use, like Ainz's staff boosting him to the point his Despair Aura can affect the guardians when it normally would never do that. The variety can make up a lot for that 20%, the problem is that we don't know a lot.
That 20% is for Greater Doppelganger, and as you said it is very possible that there is a higher version like Master Doppelganger, and that may not have that 20% penalty. It could be 10% or 5% or even 0%. He may be able to do perfect copies.
If he was able to do perfect copies, there would be no reason for Ainz, his creator and the person who knows Pandora's Actor's build the best, to state that he can only copy people up to 80% efficiency.

Knowing Ainz, Pandora probably has a rare accessory or world item that boosts his ability's power by 20%. LOL.
Choh Sena and of course, pandora’s actor can transform into one of the supreme beings and use their gear that’s inside the treasury to mimic the effects. And seeing how much impact a lvl 35 death knight caused in the new world, I’d say that pandora’s actor is capable and has access to powers that can destroy new world countries.

Hen Shin the thing is, Pandora’s actor wouldn’t have access to the staff of Ainz Ooal Gown, and while he can use the equipment to the point where he is as good as the original owner, he doesn’t know the tactics that the originals used. So if we are talking strategically Pandora’s actor is not as good as the original, even with an item that fills in his 20% stat reduction.

One other use for a Doppelganger:
A Doppelganger could transform into an enemy, and then tell their allies what skills and stats etc to expect while battling said enemy, because as you said, they're perfect for Intel gathering.
Yes that would seem to be a perfect use. Find or plant a mole then intercept or use the Dopple while containing or distracting the original. You have the original having done the mission but used the Dopple to give false intel.

Doppelgängers have limited forms. While this may seem like a good tactic, it can be only used a few times before the player has to lose levels in Doppelgänger to free new forms.

Actually, there is one thing you forgot to note in these calculations.
The health of the doppelgänger is always fixed, so even if they transform they keep their health Stat. Meaning if he transformed into a minmax power build, or a low level build, he could potentially beat it because he has a lot of HP to compensate.
Imagine a doppelganger with as much mana as Ainz and 20+ transformations covering the entire spell list...

Pandora's true power is his intelligence, if he duplicates his enemy he learns all their abilities and at the time their chosen tactic if its in the forefront of their mind... then doppleganger switches to the perfect counter for a "super effective". Rather than hit and run attacks, go full type matching. We seen it with Vermin Bane, even at a lower level it wrecked her.

It wasn't until the guardians convinced him to utilize the doppelganger more that we got things like having him imitate momon. I think this was mentioned in a side comment on the other PA video.

If Pandora's Actor was to replicate Touch-Me in his World Champion class, then outfit himself with all Touch-Me's equipment from the halls of Nazarick, he would be a world breaker in the New World. That 20% reduction in power doesn't mean much when you're that much stronger than anyone else in the world.
Any combat type level 100 npc with a WI would be a world breaker in the New World, the current strongest being there only have the strength of a level 80-90 tank.
The fact that Pandora’s Actor managed the Treasury that stores all of the Guild Member’s equipment and World Items, the flaw about Pandora’s Actor not being about duplicate equipment is not a problem any more.
@@allenxavier6073 he probably means, that Touch-Me is, like, 80% stronger than any other player. Which means even with doppleganger's overall 64% debuff penalty - he still will be 16% stronger than anyone else.
But Touch-Me is the best PvP player not because of gear, stats and abilities. But because of his experience and skill. Kinda impossible to replicate for doppelgangers to the same effect.

Doppelgangers seem to be ideal to have as universal crafter because of how crafting works and because there seems to be no penalty due to how it appears to work therefore for crafting only thing that matters is the job levels and because the doppelganger mimics all the stats 1:1 they would be ideal in situations where you might want massive amounts of scrolls/potions...

When Momonga has created the strongest NPC ever imagined despite not being the strongest of the Nazarick lords. Even if PA's power would still be only 80% compared to the original and even then he could be utilized in all sorts of ways.
If, only if,Ains in the future gives Pandora an item that busts him at least 20% of his stats even while transformed that would counter his biggest weakness
The item would have to be native to the New World, as if it were from YGGDRASIL Ainz would have noticed how good it would have been for the Guardian of the Treasury and given it to him.
Actually I have been thinking.about this and an item that boost all of his attributes would be perfect because it can boost the transformation ability by 10% and that brings us to 100%.

Regardless if he had a 20% boost to his stats that wouldn't negate a 20% reduction, that's not how percentages work, regardless of how and when they're applied. Let's do a quick simple example
X has a base power of 10 with an item that boosts his base power by 20% at all times regardless of form. Thus his base power with that item is 12 (10*1.2). When transforming into another form his base power becomes 9.6 (12*.8). It's only a 4% reduction at that point, but it's still a reduction. Do it the other way around and assume that the buff is applied after the debuff. 10 becomes 8 becomes 9.6 still. This is just a very simple example as well, without any of the complexities that are typically creates in a game engine. Put on top of that if there's an item that just flat buffs *all* your traits by 20% that's very likely a very popular and potent item that *most* people would wear, thus he'd still be at effectively 80% of any properly equipped person because they, too, will have that 20% buff.
I want to imagine that Pandora’s Actor has an ability to create clones, then mimics all of the Guild Members for one massive melee against another guild.

If it was a real game I would love to be and the double ganger class sounds a lot more interesting and a lot more strategy in it.
But imagine if there are like 100 classes with 100 different skills. you'd have to memorize them all to use the original's abilities properly.
To be precise, it is based on an already existing game, Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e. Lots of Overlord stuff was inspired by the author's roleplaying sessions on that system.
All the guardians are very reflective of their creators’ personalities to an extreme, PA included. Ainz’s personality is more strategy and flexibility than brute force and that’s what PA is in extreme. Love it.
having played a lot of MMORPG, 20% can be easily compensated with skill, buff, comsumable, equipment. A lot of the time, you can use special items set to buff a particular stats/skill over 100%. I can see doppelganger can be very useful, if your gameplay style is highly volatile. But again, we don't know the game, but since it is in the game, I believe there is a strong case that it has a role. A guess this is the reason why nabe is a mage case not a fighter class. Because for a fighter case, the gameplay is more straightforward, while a mage class, you got to know what to do at what timing. so stats doesn't matter as much, since using the correct magic at the corrct timing is more important then a straight up dmg duel that depending on stats. Another reason why Ainz build Pandora's actor to be highly intelligence.
Pandoras actor also has access to the guild's armory and knows where everything is located. That increases his advantage.

It's funny you mention spells that can reveal a doppelganger. Druids in D&D fifth edition get a spell that can do that as early as the second tier (level three). It's called Moon Beam. Deals radiant damage, can be halved with a constitution save and forces whatever shapeshifter it hits to revert to its original form if it fails the save. Shapeshifters also have disadvantage on the save. As most know by now I'm sure, Overlord is very heavily based on the author's experiences playing D&D and other tabletop rpgs with his friends, so it stands to reason there are spells specifically geared towards fucking up shapeshifters and other subsets of creatures.
Yep such anti doppleganger spell/item probably exist but since PA is a bit of a special doppleganger maybe Ainz had him equipped that would counter an item/spells like that. But such countermeasures would probably work incases of Nabe and the fake King in Holy kingdom though.

The term Doppelgänger can mean different things, depending on the context you use it in. For example a person who looks nearly the same as you do, can be called a Doppelgänger in germany. As well as Stunt Doubles can also be called like that. So the term Doppelgänger can really be used in close to any context to describe a person/being wich looks alike you or someone else

By using doppelganger transform in water type and use water type skill like water shield that is great way to use doppelganger (right). he would be better transforming into Peroronchino. Touch me is strongest PvP player because of skill and experience. While Peroronchino is the strongest hard-hitting single target player, because of the gear, build and abilities.
wouldnt be suprised, if Peroronchino has overkill dmg. Like he deals 20% more dmg, than it takes to oneshot enemy player. Which means even with doppel's 20% dmg debuff - he still oneshots a player.
Pandora’s actor is literally SUCH A COOL NAME
With instant death spells, as far as I remember, in D&D the target has to make a "will save." Depending on the death spell they need to roll a certain amount on a certain die. So one spell for instance will require that the target roll 14 or higher on a d20. The target then rolls and gets a 13. The target dies unless they have a modifier that can increase the result of the throw to meet the requirement. Additionally the caster can also have spells that debuff the target before casting the death spell. So a doppleganger will maybe get their roll reduced by 20% and then their modifiers will also be reduced by 20%.

First time I've seen this channel, I enjoyed it, but anyone that thinks that's a good trade off has never played a game where +5% anything is a godsend.
i think if you look at this with cooldowns in world of warcraft it gives a great example. I foy use a cooldown to keep your damage higher you will always have more but if you use all your cooldowns at the same time they work off of each other to greatly increase damage. (if one gives crit chance and another gives attack speed you can see how this would work together.) i think this shows how the stacking of different ability all being 80% really decreases overall effectiveness. To be fair i dont think doppelganger is a very damage oriented race but i feel this example explains it quite well. Another good vid man keep it up. :D
He can use buffs like any other character + he's the one incharge of treasury so PA probably knows strengths and weaknesses of others esp the equipment they're using

Although I haven't read the whole novel, the general consensus I've read online is that Pandora's Actor can do exactly that. Turn into Ainz/Ulbert , do massive self-buffs, then morph into Touch me-sama, then brutalize most enemies.... stuff like that, which would make him easily more powerful than the original.
@@Archedgar that would be prossible but the main constraint would be the constant change of gear. What made Ainz and the nazarick among the top guilds is their gear. Touch me and Ulbert is the World class warrior and mage respectively which probably has job exclusive equipments and each other member has their equipment specialized to their ideal class build just like how Ainz is supposed to be some sort of "god of death" necromancer and nishinki a glass cannon ninja. Other spells also require certain equipment and requires adjusted alignment points.

However he could turn into Ulbert and use [Grand Catastrophe] the strongest magic in the game in terms of damage, then turn into Touch Me with his world champion equipement to be the strongest warrior. This combo could even outdamage Rubedo.
@@exacrion3963 Rubedo could easily kill even Touch Me, so that's not a hard fact and a very big piece of speculation at best. The 20% reduction exarcerbates this.

Also, why wouldn't PA be able to copy another NPC? That's what Rubedo is. A custom-made golem NPC with custom-setting for character backstory added to it. At the end of the day, it's still an NPC, not an object. Plus, why would PA only be able to transform into players? With the way the race is, for it to work in a game it would need to be able to copy enemy monsters as well. Even more so considering that in Yggdrasil it was possible to make a character any race whatsoever(except for world enemies and dragons). As long as a race existed in the game, even as an enemy monster, it was possible to play as that race. Golems and Automatons are classified as Heteromorphs in Yggdrasil. There's no reason why PA wouldn't be able to transform into Rubedo.
@@sancturillore Yes there is a reason why PA's forms will not include Rubedo. Rubedo is very unique in every way the other NPCs are made. The very core of her creation is a world class item, that is the very reason you can doubt that Pandora's Actor would be able to transform into Rubedo. She can be an asset to the guild just because of the uniqueness. That is also the reaso she is kept hidden inside Nazarick because she can be very destructive if we take in consideration the informations that are available for Rubedo.

Probably very similar to Pandora, Doppelgangers in fantasy are well known to be fairly uniform in their basic appearance, with minor differences in height and weight and choice of clothing/decoration.

Your assumption of how the calculation of the damage reduction seems fine on the surface level. But that's not the only sensible way to calculate that. It's sure the most straightforward method, however there is also the possibility that the Doppelganger would do 160 damage to you. Aka a 20% Damage Reduction. And in the reverse would take 240 damage aka a 20% Damage Increase.
It depends fully on how you calculate things, do you calculate base stats or actual damage. Because if it were stats, then in your case it would be 100% less damage dealt and 80% increased damage taken... While in my case it would be a 20% increase and decrease in respective case.
There's a huge difference depending on when you calculate the 20% decrease. Before Damage Calculation or after Damage Calculation.

Seeing as how Ainz has that one one Mage Jobless that max's out at Lvl5, which helped to practically remove the limitation of amount of spells, I'd assume that Momonga definitely found some hidden Race class that broke that balance and allowed either Pandora's Actor to imitate either 100% or more than 100% of the supreme ones power, after all he is the Guardian of the Treasury I'd assume that he would be hella overpowered maybe close to the power of Rubedo, and he might have a world Item?

14:33, Most games use a multiplicative damage reduction system. Basically your resistances create a percent reduction in damage rather than outright blocking a number of damage, this way it's almost impossible to block all damage, also usually there are diminishing returns. For example the formula for damage reduction for physical damage in League of Legends is Damage X (100/100+armor), so 50 armor gives 100/150 or 66.66% multiplier so you take 33.33% less damage. So 100 armor gives you a 50% damage reduction but 200 armor only gives you 66.66% damage reduction and 300 gives you 75%, so it's very hard to get insane damage reduction. So you need 900 armor to get a 90% reduction, 4900 to get 98%, and 9900 to get 99%, so yeah an extra 1% damage reduction takes 5000 armor, which is totally not worth it (also impossible on all champs other than Thresh, Jax, and technically Trundle). Hear it is impossible to get 100% damage reduction theoretically as armor trends to infinity as reduction approaches 100%, but you can get a practical 100% reduction with much less armor as you don't need to reduce the incoming damage to 0, you just need to take less damage than you regenerate. If you have your base regen + items that boost regen + lifesteal or spell vamp (lifesteal for spells instead of basic attacks) than you can technically become invincible.
If anyone is wondering this last case is how Kirito was impossible to kill in the bridge scene, you can see his healthbar dropping and regening, so he doesn't have 100% nullification, but the damage he's taking is less than his regen.
For those that are curious, in League the maximum armor achievable realistically is 3432.618816 on Malphite with a Taric, and Braum buffing him and an Orrn providing items to all three. Thresh stacks armor infinitely, and Jax, through Gathering Storm and his ult, can do the same. Trundle, by virtue of his ult stealing 40% of the target's resistances, can also stack infinitely, however you can't actually have infinite armor, so he's always less than Jax and Thresh. Thresh's passive maxes at 749999.25 armor, with the above buffs bringing him to 910,296.7564 armor or a 99.99989016% reduction in physical damage. I don't know what the variable type for the armor value is (in the code that is), Technically Jax has the highest resistance values in the game as Gathering Storm scales infinitely meaning the resistances provided by his ult scale infinitely, until the variable that stores either his AD, AP, MR, or armor max out. A double maxes out at 2^53, so if his AD maxes there, his ult would give him 70+(0.5*(2^53)) plus his 67 base armor, plus 675 armor from items, so 4,503,599,627,371,308 armor or 99.99999999999777955% damage reduction, this is without teamates buffing him other than Orrn for items, but it's inconsequential at this point. But I mean 4.5 Quadrillion armor might be a little overkill, and doing the math, would take a game that lasted 35.7 billion years.
Instead of “Super-Ultra Doppleganger” you should have just said something like Perfect Doppleganger, it would have made more sense if that was the ultimate class for Dopplegangers after all

I know this video is pretty old, I still enjoy it. One thing I was thinking that could offset the 80% potency limitation, what if the doppelganger has specialties into areas where their base stats could help bypass that reduced potency. That potency reduction is only a reduction in the form they are copying, maybe their base stats could apply through and potentially offset that loss, potentially making them equal to the original. Just a thought
i suspect that class changes have stat requirements in them.. maybe the doppelgänger’s stat requirements are more all-around. this means they cannot compensate for the -20% potency if they mimic min-maxed builds
the best things a doppelganger can do is hard-counter the enemy, even if they have 20% less stats if their match up is significantly favorable (scissors vs paper, reaper vs Winston, awp vs shotgun in long sight-line, fire type vs grass type, etc) then a 20% reduction may well be peanuts if PA can focus all abilities on the enemies weakness. doppelganger are good because they specialize against everything (when set up like Pandora's Actor).
This doppelgänger creature has the greatest potential for trolling. I can just imagine how much fun it would be.
With the right mind, this class could be the most powerful class in 1 vs 1 battle.

I'm pretty sure defence works with percentage.
Say someone has 100 attack and 100 defence. 10 defence would be equal to 1 percent damage reduction and 100 would be equal to 10 percent damage reduction. So if Pandora's actor were to copy him he'd have 80 attack and when he hit him it would be reduced further by the 10 percent damage reduction making Pandora's actor do 72 damage while his opponent is doing 92 damage because of Pandora's actor's 80 defence/8 percent damage Immunity
except that in this case he's very wrong. And you also are due to going along with his failed logic. In Yggdrasil, defense is based on stats, and since stats are copied 100% perfectly in this case, it thus means that there wouldn't be any penalty on defense.
Similarly, the 80% potency for skills and spells is about the result of the spell, not about the chances of success(which itself is instead determined by the level and stats of the character and by the rank of the spell, and sometimes by buffs from equipment). As such, Instant Death spells don't suffer any penalty.

I don't know what the 80% potency translates to exactly, but I know the amount of casts from abilities/skills Pandora's Actor is copying remains the same. I remember Ainz talking about how he can summon a certain amount of lower tier undead for free every day and then he said if Pandora's Actor copies Ainz and joins in then that would double the amount they can summon. So that implies that the 80% potency does not cut the amount of uses down as well. I believe I read that before Novel 10, some time after Novel 3.
_While half of Nazarick’s undead were made by Ainz, the other half were made by Pandora’s Actor. Granted, the undead made by Pandora’s Actor were weaker than those made by Ainz, to some extent. Still, that was within acceptable parameters, and there were adequate frozen corpses on the 5th Floor for that purpose._

@Richard Casterly You can't calculate Pandora's actor in such a straight forward manner. The whole point of his powers is that he can come and counter you exactly with what hits you hardest in his arsenal, or go with what shuts down your options and powers without affecting his.
Or... just bulldozing through. Do you really think Pandora's Actor turning into Ainz or Ulbert or another support person, buffing himself to high hell and then turning into Touch Me with full gear would fall to Shalltear?

There is literally nothing to talk about Victim at all aside from trying to figure out his uses based from his stat sheet - basically classes (Angel, Archangel etc.). Well, Victim can activates a powerful movement restriction skill by sacrificing itself. In using this ability, Victim's main role is to protect or support his allies. He's one of the reason, though the "core force" (as mentioned in the LN by Ainz) was the one who actually killed them off, why Nazarick was able to fend off a raid of 1500 players and NPCs from multiple guild in the 8th floor (the strongest floor) of Nazarick. Every time Victim speaks, his words are usually read backwards from the end to beginning of the sentence (basically the sound you hear when he talks).

But as you said it is about tactic and deception PA is as smart as his creator so I think even if origenal vs dopplinger fight dopplinger has higher chance if they use better tactic plus if the limit of transformation is three time per day it is still too broken the only disadvantage is his HP and MP does not change with the transformation

@Richard Casterly The problem is the assumption that his gear will be limited, which is a bit of a silly idea why that would be the case. Another point is the fact that you bring up the 20% without accounting how even 80% of a certain character can still be stronger than Shalltear. This is ALSO forgetting possible cross-transformation shenanigans, like fully buffing as the best buff support among the Supreme Beings then going Touch Me on someone's ass, or raising his defenses to the max and using the tankiest character he has available. Or even potentially quick changing his form in the middle of battle.
This is as well not accounting for any special items for Doppelgangers or items created for his exclusive use, like Ainz's staff boosting him to the point his Despair Aura can affect the guardians when it normally would never do that. The variety can make up a lot for that 20%, the problem is that we don't know a lot.
That 20% is for Greater Doppelganger, and as you said it is very possible that there is a higher version like Master Doppelganger, and that may not have that 20% penalty. It could be 10% or 5% or even 0%. He may be able to do perfect copies.
If he was able to do perfect copies, there would be no reason for Ainz, his creator and the person who knows Pandora's Actor's build the best, to state that he can only copy people up to 80% efficiency.
