As a big patriots fan, I will actually be mad if they win another game this season. They need to do anything and everything to go after WILLIAMS in the draft. Guys are very good in the draft. It’s a very good quarterback draft coming up. I had hoped for Mac, but I completely lost it. Bailey is 10 times worse than Mac Jones. So there’s no hope they are whatsoever. We just lost the rookie of the year Christian Gonzalez for the season so let’s take bring back everyone healthy for next season on the defense and do whatever the hell we can to get WILLIAMS to replace Jones and rebuild the offense.
TBH I would be OK with either Maye or Williams so if they end up with a top 5 pick and don't trade up to number 2 I would be done with this organisation and they cannot allow Bill to ruin another first round QB so they need to get an new HC
#1 draft QBs rarely ever are that great, besides for Burrow and Lawrence that we still aren't sure about yet you have to go allllll the way back to Peyton Manning for the last #1 QB in the draft that was actually worth the pick
I’m excited for the idea of Caleb too. But trying not to get my hopes up too much, because it’s still very early. Bill doesn’t care about the draft, he could figure out a way to win a few pointless games and ruin the draft for us

I think the team needs to toughen up, and everyone needs to do their job!
I would suggest the best way to fix the offense is through high draft position and free agency. We will have cap space. Maybe just let things go the way we going. 3 to 4 wins should get us somewhere between pick 1-4. Also I don’t Mind if Bill still coach next year but he better not have anything to do with draft.
That's a good point Phil they should just pound the ball for a half and try to bruise a defense then start mixing in longer passing plays when the defense is expecting run.
I completely agree. But they can’t run the ball with this offensive line. They are so one dimensional and even then they’re not effective.
It's not about results. It's about putting in the work. I think Mac should be in line for a Pro Bowl selection. And if not that, then Hardest working player in the NFL award. (And if it's not an award, make it one, inaugural winner, baby 🐐)
There is no fixing this offense in season in anyway that's going to make us a playoff team let alone a SB contender. What the Patriots need to be doing is playing Tyquan Thornton, Pop Douglas, and Kayshon Boutte develop those guys for the future. Trade Parker even if the only thing you can get for him is a 7th round pick. The Patriots organization from front office to the coaches need to be real with themselves that it's time to tank, go get a Qb, rebuild the OL, and sign a real #1 at WR.
If you want any of that to happen you’re gonna need a new coaching staff and front office

@@Lord_Clarke the thing is that this isn’t the NBA. You under no circumstances can go out of your way to sewer careers in a violent game, which he’s already down before see flipping Isaiah Wynn from the left side to the right side. Players career’s are at stake and putting them in positions to fail so that it’s harder for them to get jobs is an unforgivable thing in the football world so even if he’s trying to tank forget about the ability to sign a soul let alone functional players.
They’ll win some games and you just have to be thankful that some of your current favorite players did well. But I can’t support a tank under any circumstance in football

Denial: "2022 was all Patricia's fault." "Mac had some great throws Vs Eagles." "Mac had some good throws Vs Dolphins"
Anger: "This OLine SUCKS! The WRs are pure TRASH! BB destroyed Mac last year!"
Bargaining: "Okay, Mac was good Vs the Jets, and hit rock bottom Vs the Cowboys. But that's just one bad game. I mean he was great the first two games, good Vs Jets, now one bad game. I've never seen him play like this before, because 2022 never even happened in my mind."
Depression: "Mannn I'm starting to think that a tiny bit of this is on Mac. It hurts me to say it, but maybe 2% of the problem is Mac's fault. Sorry guys, that's my bold take. I'm so depressed."
Acceptance: "Maybe I'll look for a new football boyfriend to ride or die with. Zach Wilson's kinda hot."

Hey Phil...great stuff!
I love the idea of bigger bodies on the field. Forget extra tight ends. Give me 2 more linemen. 7 linemen (2 as tighet ends positionally), RB, FB, 1 WR. Just run it down their throat. And the WR is your biggest TE, motion him right into the run side. I like this idea, but only because it takes the ball out of Mac's hands.
I would at least try the hurry up offense after that just play everyone and treat it like a scouting season.
Patriots could win the "Biggest step back" award. For the team that took the biggest step back from the previous year. Its the opposite of the comeback team of the year.
My 5 point plan. 1) swap out Parker and Juju to Boutte and Douglass. Bourne and Thornton are your others. 2) Oline Brown McDermott Andrews Reiff Onwenu 3) Continually Tongue lash and then bench if necessary any Oline players that are low effort or bad form. 4) Run two minute offense much more, Mac showed some promise for that. 5) Tell Mac to use shotgun w/ step up and just take the Sack anytime a potential toss does not feel 100% confident. 5b) consider Malik Cunnigham in a "Taysom Hill package" type role where he tends to run outside Maybe that tends to prevent middle pash rushes and open up middle runs, maybe even some Mac runs.
Deep down, all these pundits & coaches KNOW that the offense flows better with Zappe, they’re just still in denial.

Ya Ted's take is insane...he basically saying he cares more about the mental wellbeing of one player over the other 52...it's completely nuts and you can't run a team like that...and they wonder why the team isn't playing hard

Phil has become so unrealistic with the patriots because he is so entrenched in the Mac is good camp. It’s ok to say hey I was wrong Mac sucks they need a franchise guy.
Mac Jones is not that guy. If bill wants keep losing, then yeah, keep putting him out there. There best option is Cunningham and they refuse to give him an opportunity. We have a good wide receiver room, and mac is making them look like dog 🤬, and it shows. Oh, the show is always better with no Tom.. Thanks for another good one Phil.

The least surprised people by the Patriots offense is Phil Perry and the people who watch this podcast . I mean we all shook our head when they extended DeVante Parker. We all saw this coming..
I don’t want to see anyone on this roster fail. But how much of Mac’s struggles are a result of how the team has been mismanaged? The debacle that was Matt P/Joe J as OCs. The lack of talent on the outside and offensive line that can’t seem to come together? That has to weigh on player’s confidence. Most people can’t handle ONE person criticizing them. Imagine over 80k fans in a stadium booing you and chanting your backup’s name?
Sure he has to work on things such as his maturity and leadership. But we all have flaws. Again, I don’t want to see anyone on this team fail. But I do think he was put in a position where succeeding is going to be difficult. Especially for a position that comes with high expectations.
This is a much bigger problem than the qb. The overall talent on the roster compared to the other 3 teams just in the division isn’t even close. At the end of the day talent wins, Patriots have a severe lack of talent roster wide.

If they aren’t panicking is due to arrogance. They have the worst offense in an offensive league. Might not win 3 games the rest of the year.
Only thing BB, Judge, and Kraft are panicking about is Zappe getting to actually start games and looking better than Mac. Better to forfeit the entire season with Mac than risk looking stubborn. They set Zappe up to fail all training camp/preseason, then ritually humiliated him by cutting him. All because they didn't want there to be a QB competition. They went all in on Mac, and now they're all gonna get fired along with Mac. 100% of Pats reporters should also be facing unemployment for being so wrong about Mac's emotional stability for 2 full seasons.
And if fans had a vote, Kraft would get fired too, and sell the team like his dear mensch Dan Snyder.

Thanks for the calm voice and a different perspective, Phil. I prefer problem solvers. It doesn't take work to see a problem. The work is in the resolution. I have been a Pat's fan for a long time but only followed the media starting at the end of the Brady era. Easy since I live out of the market. So much drama. But, it is addictive. I am ready for some drama-free football.
Why not try with TB12 as GM or as OC or HC?

Phil is going to be so miserable by the end of this season if this keeps up. Will be interesting to see if he can stay a Chipper Chip
My personal 5 point plan :
1. Trade Mac Jones for whatever you can get
2 . Tank for top 3 pick ( Williams , Maye or Harrison Jr )
3. Fix the Oline weather it’s free agency or the draft
4. Get a real #1 WR or Vet QB like Kirk ( only if we draft Harrison Jr )
5. Get Judon & Gonzo healthy
Solid plan. I don't think Bill will do that though, but I'm hoping

I agree we are playing too predictable on offense go under center get back under center and have zek and stevenson in the formation more together zek at fb stevenson at hb switch them up too and do split back formations , could pass could run and get 2 set te with 2 rbs in the backfield. get the ball out quick until oline gets it together and mac gets comfortable again. Keep the defense guessing cant keept doing the old style plays with this oline and wr core. I still say trade a second rnd 2024 pick or 2025 picks for #1 wr and #1 talent Tackle.
It's so easy to defense this offense. Jam everyone up front and dare the QB to throw long. Take away the short passes and jam the middle of the line. The problem with using tight ends is that our tight ends can't block so they don't help with the run game. The whole thing is a mess.
Basically just stand there and wait for the qb to throw you a couple and game over

Also this pressure rate stat they like to use to defend Mac doesn't accurately assess real pressure. That stat just says how many times a defender is within 2 yards of a qb when they release the ball. It doesn't account for a qb who holds the ball cuz they can't read a defense or can't go through their progressions.. if you look at actual sacks they're about middle of the pack last I knew
@@AJ........ because sacks didn’t tell the entire picture of how terrible the o line actually was. Over 40% the time when Mac threw the ball there was a defender less than 2 yards from him. He only has 2 seconds to throw, Mac isn’t playing good but stop trying to excuse dog shit play from other parts of the game and then put it on him. Brady mahomes you name it if there isn’t time to throw it doesn’t matter, mahomes vs the bucs and we watched Brady look real bad against the jets giants broncos and ravens throughout the years when the o line wasn’t up to par.

Let Grier play and/or elevate Malik. Just use this season to see who is going to be here next year. Spice it up. We just watched the whole league pass us by.
I don't see how "one sid eof the ball" is playing any better than the other. The defense even when Judan and Gonzalez where there was giving up easy scores and special teams is no better in leaving plays and point on the tabes. This is a teamwide player and coaching failure and there is ONE person responsible for all of it. BB...

Mac Jones isn't the problem and Bill Belichick is the problem.
GM Belichick has made disastrous move after disastrous move since Brady left.
Belichick moves:
--allowed the only Patriot WR (Jokobi Meyers) who could consistently get open. A WR Mac Jones had great success with.
--Instead Belichick signs a WR (Ju Ju Smith-Schuster) with a bad knee who can't get open and consistently runs the wrong routes.
--Did not pick young stud OT Broderick Jones.
--Did not pick a young stud WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Imagine WR's Jakobi Meyers, DeAndre Hopkins, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the Patriot's today. This was easily done. Instead Belichick reworked old, slow DeVante Parkers contract, signed Ju Ju Smith-Schuster for the same Jakobi Meyers was paid by the Raiders, abd Mike Gesicki. So Patriots fans does this make me a better GM than Belichick? The answer is YES!.
--Belichick signed 34 yr old OT Riley Reiff, who had a bad 2022 season and OT Calvin Anderson who can't run or pass block. Then Belichick panicked and signed 2 Practice Squad OT's from other teams.
--Resulting in a O-line that can't run or pass block.
Mac Jones had a good 1st yr. Tgen Belichick wasn't prepared for Josh McDaniels to leave for Las Vegas. So Belichick panicked and hired a defensive co-ordinator to be the Patriot's Offensive Coordinator. Thry tried to run the West Coast Offense (Wide Zone Blocking) fir 3 weeks of training camp, couldn't do it, scrsped it, and wasted 3 weeks of training for nothing.
This is a crucial year to see if you sign Mac Jones 5th year option. So Belichick does NOTHING POSITIVE FOR THE OFFENSIVE LINE OR THE WR's. Instead Belichick's 1st 3 draft picks were all on defense. 2 picks were for Special Teams. Joe Cardona, the NFL Highest Paid Long Snapper has played Long Snapper worse among ALL NFL Long Snappers.
-- Belichick removed WR Demario Douglas for fumbling. But kept Ezekiel Elliott in the Game for fumbling. Demario Douglas was the only Patriot WR Philadelphia could not cover. So Belichick's upside down Disciplinary System could gave cost the Patriot's a victory.
--I agree MC Jones isn't playing well and his mechanics are broken. ALL BECAUSE OF BILL BELICHICK'S DECISIONS.
CONCLUSION: I believe the Patriots have a better chance to have the worse 2023 record in the NFL with Belichick as Coach. It's working that way so far. I SEE NOTHING CHANGING. I ACTUALLY SEE THE PATRIOTS GETTING WORSE. BUT, I ALSO SEE ROBERT KRAFT FIRING BILL BELICHICK AFTER THE PATRIOTS LOSE TO THE LOWLY LAS VEGAS RAIDERS. AND THAT IS MY PREDICTION PHIL PERRY. AND I COULDN'T CARE LESS WHAT THE OPTIMISTIC PATRIOTS COACHING STAFF THINKS, SINCE MANY WILL BE WITHOUT JOBS AT SEASONS END.

@@ScoutsHonorBB Mac is a steal at 140 Mil over 4 years. NOT for the Pats though. Pats are stuck in the 50 year-old Erhardt-Perkins offense. Mac is average at best in that system. But Mac is elite in the new 4 & 5 wide shotgun offense. The one Miami and the 9ers run.

2. Trade Mac
3. Tank for Caleb
4. Fix the offensive line
5. Get a #1 Wide receiver

The O-line is the #1 problem. How can THAT be fixed in-season? You need both better players and better coaches. So, you think that THIS O-line will be able to run-block when that is ALL you're doing? Good luck!
Trade Mac to the Raiders for Jimmy G. Under Josh and with Jacoby, Mac might flourish. Make Malik the backup QB. He's mobile and can deal with the turnstile o-line.

When you have to look so deep into stats and info, there is nothing that can help this offense, i would rather have a 1-16 season and reload next year than a bunch of 7-9 wins seasons with Mac

They have a really good receiving TE in Gesicki, but they use him as a blocker because the O-line is so messed up. I groaned when they signed JuJu. I groaned when they signed Jonnu. I don't understand why they don't have a stud receiver like every other team in our division. I was pissed when McVie laughed at our Cole Strange pick, but now I get it. My forehead is flat from hitting it with the palm of my hand.
Kraft didn't want to pay Top receiver money so he could spend more at massage parlors..That old pervert!

Sorry but all this starts and ends with horrendous decisions made by BB and his inability to adapt to modern football...he may have ruined Mac Jones and we may need a new QB but no chance should it be BB who oversees the development of a new QB
Mac is their ONLY option. Zappe is just awful and fortunate to have a job on an NFL roster. Will Grier? Grier's NEXT NFL TD pass, after five seasons, will be his first. (Don't you ever bother to do research?) Weakest QB room in the NFL. And do you want to waste resources bringing in a veteran just to win a few more games this year and give us a weaker draft position? That makes no sense. This is ALL on BB.
How can you actually say Mac is a better option than any other qb on their roster? I don't care if they only throw for 10 yards and don't turn it over it's still a massive upgrade over Mac. I don't understand how people don't get that you can't win with a qb who spots the other team points every week

2) New OL
3) New WRs
4) New TEs
5) New RBs
It's easy. Replace 3 of the 5 offensive lineman. Replace the QB with the noodle arm and terrible decision making, Get a couple WR who actually matter in the NFL. Get a 3rd down back that they had all the great years like James White or Kevin Faulk. #5, get rid of BB and start with a young offensive minded coach. That was easy, see you guys in 2028 🤣
Hell, just give Bill a decent qb who's mentally tough and a good leader and watch how fast it turns around
